What to do on the West Coast of TASMANIA - E11
This week after we decided what to do we started to drive north from the most southern point of Tasmania. We spent one night camped in Ouse before making our way to Lake St Clare.
After a quick lunch stop and some helpful info from the information centre we explored the lake a little and learnt about some points of interest between there and Strahan. We decided to camp the night next to the Derwent River.
From here we made our way to the points of interest until we continued onto Strahan.
Strahan is famous for one thing - The Gordon River - so we decided to join all the grey nomads and cruise along it in the premium section (they were the only seats left). So Strahan took all our money and before heading off we found one more free camp before making our way to Montezuma Falls.
In true Tassie west coast style it was raining and had been raining for our hike to the falls. But luckily for us it was sooooo worth it!
Thanks for watching and we hope you enjoyed it! If you did please give us a thumbs up and if you want to see more make sure you subscribe so you don't miss out on future episodes as we upload weekly

Day 5 Highlights 2011
The 2011 Swisse Mark Webber Tasmania Challenge reaches its conclusion in Hobart with competitors taking on a frantic final day of racing in the rolling hills and sparkling harbor of Tasmania's picturesque and cosmopolitan capital.
Australia's second oldest city, Hobart has developed over the last decade from a sleepy, pretty waterfront community to a vibrant, bustling centre that leads the country, if not the Southern Hemisphere, in art and culture.
The opening of the Henry Jones Art Hotel, a restored jam factory, in 2005 led the art revolution and the launch of Mona - the extraordinary Museum of Old and New Art -- at the start of 2011 has been described as the most significant addition to Australia's cultural landscape since the Sydney Opera House.
The day's racing, however, is all about exploring Hobart's natural beauty in the suburbs beside the Derwent River, through the city parks and in the foothills of the 1,300m-high Mount Wellington, which dominates the skyline and provides the ultimate weekend playground for locals and visitors alike.
Checkpoints will be dotted around the city with locations including Chimney Pot Hill, Knocklofty, Mount Nelson and Queens Domain on the western side and Lindisfarne, Montagu Bay and Rosny on the east. Competitors will set off from the Henry Jones Art Hotel with the task of visiting as many as possible during an allotted time.
The course highlights the city's ease of access to a range of wilderness regions, with Chimney Pot Hill, part of the Ridgeway reserve, offering an unbroken stretch of natural bush; Knocklofty a wild area of heath and open woodland leading to a 375m summit; and Mount Nelson, once the site for one of a chain of signal stations linking Hobart with Port Arthur and now a native bushland with sweeping views over Hobart and Storm Bay.
In the heart of the city, meanwhile, Queens Domain is an area of park and bush on the waterfront that preserves the last remnant of the area's original endemic grassland and has unearthed Aboriginal middens that date it back to long before European colonists arrived in 1803.
In 1860 the site was commissioned as an area that belongs to the people and was once used to house the Queens Battery, which defended the city from attack. It is now a popular place for gentle Sunday walks, a destination for sports and home to the Botanical Gardens, the Aquatic Centre and the grand Government House.
Across the water, the bays of Lindisfarne and Montagu provide access to a number of small hills around which several suburbs have developed. These were the first areas to be settled in the east of Hobart and their population boomed when the floating Hobart Bridge was built in 1943, followed by the Tasman Bridge constructed 21 years later.

Convict History: The Ship That Never Was | Discover Tasmania
Meet passionate local thespian Kiah Davey. She's spent the past 20 years performing in Australia's longest running play. Originally written by her late father, Kiah proudly retells the story of 'The Ship That Never Was', at the Visitor Centre amphitheater in the gorgeous village of Strahan on Tasmania's west coast. See the harrowing true account of the great convict escape from Sarah Island, brought to life in this humorous and engaging play. The play is based on a real event in 1834 when the last ship built at the convict settlement in Macquarie Harbour was about to sail for the new prison at Port Arthur but was hijacked by ten convict shipwrights. So begins the story of an amazing escape, an extraordinary voyage and an intriguing twist in the tale of 'The Ship That Never Was'.
By day, you can cruise up the stunning Gordon River and walk in the footsteps of these convicts on the very island where they lived, worked and escaped.
