Exploring Ruins in the Irish Countryside - County Cork, Ireland
I travel through the backroads of Ireland often on my photographic adventures, here I stopped at an impressive ruin of a 17th century (approx. 1620s) house known as Barrymore Castle in Castlelyons, County Cork in the southwest of the country.
It became ruined in the 1770s after an accidental fire, many other ruins in the Irish countryside were deliberately destroyed during various centuries but this was an unintentional destruction that left the place unrestored for the past 250 years.
