Heritage Highlights at WTC
Situated on the south-western fringe of Adelaide's central business district is an iconic attraction of undeniable heritage riches and tourism potential. State Heritage Listed West Terrace Cemetery has been a feature of Adelaide from the time Colonel William Light laid out the city in his 1837 plan. Since then the more than 150,000 people have been laid to rest, bringing together the many threads of the State's rich heritage in one place.
West Terrace Cemetery is home to one of Australia's distinctive cultural tourism experiences; the Heritage Highlights interpretive trail. Launched in March 2011, the two-kilometre self-guided loop walk starts just inside the main entrance to the cemetery and takes in 29 sites. Each point-of-interest is marked with an interpretive panel, exposing visitors to the cemetery's vast store of human interest stories that chronicle the historic, social and cultural development of South Australia.
This project received the 2012 Interpretation Australia Bronze Award for Excellence for projects over $30,000.

Payneham Tavern - For Sale
319-325 Payneham Road, Royston Park
JLL has been exclusively appointed to present for sale the Freehold Investment interest in the Payneham Tavern, Royston Park. The Hotel is leased to Coles Liquor Group (a division of ASX listed Wesfarmers Limited), one of the largest and most successful hotel operators in Australia.
This premium retail investment is strategically located on one of the major arterial roads out of the city, Payneham Road in Royston Park, less than five kilometres from the Adelaide CBD in the attractive eastern suburban metropolitan local government area (LGA) of Norwood, Payneham and St Peters
The Payneham Tavern comprises a modern tavern complex which was built in the 1980's and has undergone extensive recent refurbishment. The complex is constructed over a single level and incorporates a public bar with TAB, bistro and bar, gaming room with 40 gaming entitlements and bar. An attached drive through bottle shop is located at the front of the property and trades under the Liquorland brand. Designated outdoor smoking areas are provided throughout. Additional improvements include large bitumen and sealed concrete driveways and extensive onsite car parking for approximately 110 vehicles with landscaped gardens.
This attractive investment is anchored by a 20 year lease to Coles Liquorland with a secure 11 years remaining on the first term with options out to July 2047
The value is underpinned by a large and strategic site of 7,887sqm* in a prized Adelaide location less than 5km north-east of the city.
The income provides a fully net Income of $603,971 (from July 2016) per annum with the tenant paying all outgoings including land tax on a single holding basis. The investment is considered blue chip with the Coles Liquorland Investment backed by the strength of the ASX listed Wesfarmers Group.
In such a low interest-rate environment retail assets nationally offering the very best tenancy covenants like Officeworks Bunnings Liqourland and Coles all owned by a ASX listed Wesfarmers Corporation, or ALH, Dan Murphy's, Woolworths or McDonald's for example have proved to be a safe haven for astute capital and those looking investors seeking underlying property with secure long-term annuity income streams. The Payneham Tavern is one such asset and will be a sought after investment in an exceptional location.
The new owner will enjoy the benefit of ownership of the 32 valuable gaming entitlements and the hotel & gaming licences.
With annual 4% rental increases this investment provides a passive “set and forget” income stream, with indexed growth and an underlying attractive land bank in a desirable capital city and Adelaide eastern suburbs location.

Why are there so many dickheads on our roads? This wanker (S332BIM - SA) just couldn't wait five seconds for the truck to turn into the yard. Instead, cut the corner and drove on the offside of the median island. Took off like a scalded cat as well, way over the sign-posted 50km/hr speed limit.
Private Miller Mack reburial
Australian Army soldiers from 7th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, commemorated the reinterment of Private Miller Mack, an Australian World War One soldier at Raukkan, South Australia on Friday, the 24th of March 2017.
Private Mack was a 22 year old Aboriginal labourer from Raukkan, South Australia when he left to fight in 1916 with the 50th Battalion who deployed on the Western Front. While on the Western Front in 1917, Private Mack was gassed; suffering terrible effects like pulmonary oedema, skin lesions and blurred vision. He was evacuated to England in July 1918 before returning home to Adelaide where he passed away on the 3rd of September 1919, aged 25.
He was originally buried in the West Terrace cemetery in Adelaide prior to being reinterred at his traditional land in the Raukkan cemetery. The reinterment was honoured with military and traditional indigenous ceremonies at the Raukkan community, followed by a formal service in the church and burial at the Raukkan cemetery.
The Australian Army commemorated Private Miller Mack's reburial with a 12-man firing party, pall bearers and military orderlies during the ceremonies.

Adelaide Central Market Ghost
Trading since 1869, there's bound to be a story or two connected to this incredibly iconic piece of South Australia. At around 3am the Security Guard began has round when he felt something brush against his back. He felt quite uneasy, as he was the only person in the Market at the time. Curious, he checked the security footage just for a look - and what he saw (at around 13 seconds in) was something we can't explain...
The figure seems to appear out of nowhere, walking from one side of the walkway to the other. Its reflection can even be caught on the side of the window.
It can be seen from behind a metal grill roller door - no plastic or glass to produce a bounce-off reflection.
What's your thoughts?
