Adventure by definition is a risky undertaking of unknown outcome.
If you go on a surf trip and chose South-Western Australia it can even be very risky.And if you can't resist the call of the desert you have to deal with some hardcore effects. It's a harsh desert climate -- the shark factor is extremely high -- and some of the locals like to protect their spot aggressively. All in all it's a wild untamed area, which many people would consider hell. Today we see how the Desert Rebels defined adventure.

Waves were small but fun. Cactus is very isolated, and remote - a long way to travel if you need help. But still there were plenty of Nullarbor travellers, and locals enjoying the surf that day - a very hot day..!! Beware there are heaps of sharks here - especially Great Whites - and this has been the site of a few fatal attacks.

Locks Well Surf Fishing For Salmon
Surf Fishing the popular surf beach Locks well for big Australian salmon. I end up getting 4 nice fish one real nice size salmon, I was using pilchards for bait on a standard surf salmon rig. I keep the salmon for shark bait.

Travelling Australia - Eyre Peninsula and the Nullarbor
After working for 3 months in the Flinders Ranges,SA, we were more than excited to hit the coast again.
So we headed straight down the Eyre Peninsula to a fabulous beachside free camp.
1. Free camp Between Cowell and Port Gibbon
Free camps are all along here at the beach accesses. No facilities but Camp is smack bang on the beach.????
We moved on to Poverty Bay which is between Port Gibbon and Arno Bay.
2. Free camp Poverty Bay
Again no facilities and camp is slightly elevated on the cliffs, but with easy access to beach. Our only concern was a swarm of ???? hanging around our sink getting fresh water from the tap.
3. Free camp Carrow Wells
Carrow Wells is 5 minutes out of Port Neill, we didn’t stay here but it looked like a great camp spot and the beach was lovely.
We skipped across the Peninsula missing a very busy Port Lincoln as we had been there before.
After a quick stop in Streaky Bay we headed to camp at Perlubie Beach.
4. Low cost camp Perlubie Beach
Perlubie beach is about 21 kms out of Streaky and costs $10 per night via honesty box. You can camp on the beach but we chose to stay in car park as we are pretty heavy. Has toilets.
After fuelling up and getting supplies in Ceduna we headed out to Point Bell. All I can say was it was a bloody mission, should of just went to cactus but we were avoiding the crowds. Only a tiny camp area behind the dunes and it rained all night making it a slippery drive out.
Next stop was Head of the bight info centre which we thoroughly enjoyed. Being quite late we stayed at the free camp just outside the gates of the info centre. No facilities but the couple who run the info centre dropped us some fresh figs that were Devine.
Next camp was just a road side stop out of Eucla, then we checked out Cocklebiddy cave which was good. Then our last night was a free camp at Balladonia in the bush up Balladonia Rd as we thought $30 a night at the roadhouse to be a bit steep. We were wanting to head down to Cape Arid from here but it was closed due to bushfire.
So off to Esperance the long way!

I am in the town of Mandurah in Western Australia and here I met up with my friend Damien Bell, Damien is a sustainable fisherman who fishes for sea mullet and blue crab on the Peel-Harvey Estuary! He aksed us to tag along to see how he catches sea mullet! Enjoy.
