NZ Craft Beer TV - Mash Up - Episode 6 - West Coast
Episode 6 - Continuing north through the amazing scenery of the South Island's West Coast, we arrive in Westport, and visit the West Coast Brewery. Brewer Dave Kurth shows us around the brewery, and gives us a taste of his great beers. Including the hoppy Pale Ale.
A travel show, of a road trip around the craft breweries of New Zealand hosted by brewers Luke Nicholas and Kelly Ryan. We visit the breweries and interview the brewers, to capture their stories and their passion, with the resulting being the world's largest collaboration brew, involving 44 of New Zealand's craft brewers.

NEW ZEALAND WEST COAST ROAD TRIP | Incredible Hidden Gems
Join me on my West Coast road trip adventure in the South Island of New Zealand. I spent four days exploring the lesser-known northern part of the West Coast which is isolated with incredible, untouched natural beauty.
I picked up my Hertz rental car in Christchurch and drove through the stunning Lewis Pass, did a distillery tour in Reefton, walked across New Zealand's longest swingbridge in Buller Gorge, visited the historic mining area in Denniston, did an incredible Honeycomb Hill cave tour in Oparara Basin, explored the two amazing arches in the rainforest there, had an amazing time driving along the scenic Great Coast Road, admired the Punakaiki Pancake Rocks, joined a Monteith's Brewery tour in Greymouth and finished up in Hokitika.
It was an incredible solo road trip and I loved every second of it. If I can do all this in four days, imagine what you can do in a week!
Read all about my experience with my detailed itinerary and tips here:
Thank you so much to West Coast Tourism for making this trip possible. Check out more info on the West Coast here:
And thank you to Hertz for the epic wheels:

Blackout, Westport - New Zealand
Wild West Coast: Heaphy Track, Punakaiki, Franz Josef & Lake Matheson
New Zealand's Wild West Coast: episode 026
The West Coast in New Zealand's South Island is a wild and untamed place famous for its rivers, rainforests, glaciers and geological treasures! Coastal jungle, wild beaches, glaciers, and incredibly serene lakes--what more could one ask for?
New Zealand's Great Walk: Heaphy Track -
Kiwis LOVE tramping! Why? Because it's SO BEAUTIFUL everywhere! The Heaphy Track is just one of nine New Zealand Great Walks. The entire walk is 82km, and takes approximately 4 days. See the best parts of the Great Walk, as we hike from Kohaihai to the Heaphy Hut. Vibrant Nikau palms, multiple swing bridges, roaring rivers, golden sand, crashing waves, you'll be planning your next NZ adventure around these sights!
Punakaiki Pancake Rocks-
A famous tourist destination, the Punakaiki Pancake Rocks must be included on your must-see list as you make your way down the West Coast. Just a 20 minute loop walk from the parking lot, this is an easy walk with extremely rewarding views. (Note: it can get crowded because it's such an easy walk!) The Pancake Rocks look like ... giant stacks of pancakes! These unique rocks were formed 30 million years ago from minute fragments of dead marine creatures and plants landed on the seabed about 2 km below the surface. Immense water pressure caused the fragments to solidify in hard and soft layers. Gradually seismic action lifted the limestone above the seabed. Mildly acidic rain, wind and seawater sculpted the bizarre shapes.
Franz Josef-
This ever-changing icescape is perhaps New Zealand's most spectacular glacier. Franz Josef Glacier is the steepest glacier in New Zealand, descending from its origins high in the Southern Alps, deep into the lush native rainforest of Westland's National Park. It also moves faster than the average glacier at around 50cm per day, which creates some truly incredible features in the glacier. Unfortunately, one cannot walk on the glacier unless paying for an (expensive) heli-hike. See how we view the glacier instead!
And, if you want to see what a day in the office looks like, CHECK THIS OUT: We made a promotional video for adventure company 'Across Country Quad Bikes'!
Lake Matheson-
Lake Matheson is a must-see, and well worth the easy walk! As the CameraMan says, Lake Matheson is magic. Go early, beat the crowds. Or, be patient and wait for the crowds to leave. You won't regret it!
Shoutouts for our latest and greatest supporters!
Thanks to our (new) friend, Graeme, and our (old) friend, Josh, for the coffees! You are wonderful, amazing, incredible people. Thank YOU!!!!! If you want a shoutout, all you have to do is buy the CameraMan a cheap beer -

Monteith’s Brewery Tour, Greymouth - New Zealand's Biggest Gap Year – Backpacker Guide New Zealand
Day 111: Today we are hitting one of the hop-tastic New Zealand brewery tours, the Monteith’s Brewery Tour in Greymouth. See what it’s like for yourself in today’s New Zealand vlog.

Tomorrow – Day 112 ➜
30 Tips for Backpacking in New Zealand ➜
-- About this video --
Today we are in Greymouth on the West Coast of the South Island! First activity on our list is to visit the Monteith’s Brewery for a taste of a New Zealand Brewery Tour!
The Monteith’s Brewery is right in the centre of Greymouth so we can easily walk there from our hostel. Once there we put on some hi-vis jackets and tour begins in this New Zealand working brewery.
We first learn about the history of the Monteith’s Brewery and the ingredients that go in a classic beer. It’s a hands-on brewery tour with ingredients to smell and even taste. Then it’s time to go into the working brewery itself.
Here we learn about the beer-making process as we stand in the middle of giant fermentation tanks with the aid of flow charts and a video. After the beer-making process, it’s the bottling and putting beer into kegs.
At the end of the brewery tour, we get to pour our own beer for a tasting. At the bar we can also choose to purchase tasters and food, which we do exactly that!
So what do you think of the Monteith’s Brewery Tour in Greymouth? Is it something to add to your New Zealand bucket list? Let us know in the comments!

OUR NEW ZEALAND ADVENTURE 17-'18
NEW ZEALAND | '17-'18 | AMS - AKL 11.250 m by plane | 11184 m by car | 68 days | 69 hostels and 1 hotel | 74 cities
Only one week of travelling through new Zealand and we've seen so many beautiful places, met kiwis and other lovely backpackers! We went to Okura, Auckland, Takapuna, Devonport, matakana, Rotorua, Waikita Valley, Wai-o-Tapu Thermal Wonderland. We went mountain biking and hiking in The Redwoods. Watched a beautiful sunset at Hamurana and had a night walk through The redwoods. Tonight we're going to celebrate my birthday in Auckland and tomorrow we're gonna enjoy our hangover in Coromandel! Did a funny horse ride, went to a pig farm scooped our own hot pool at the hot water Beach and saw the amazing Cathedral Cove in Coromandal. We went east and saw the first sunrise at the East cape light house. Slept in our tiny car and went off to Gisborne where we went to the natural water slides. On our way to Napier we got stuck in traffic between hundreds of cows!! At the Art Deco city, Napier, we slept for four days. We biked trough the vineyards and did some Wine tasting, we went bodyboarding at Ocean Beach, had a walk in the Botanical Gardens, had a dive in the Maraetotara River and last, but not least, we went to the Hawkes Bay Museum & Art Gallery. Currently we are in the capital city, Wellington enjoying our Speight's Beer. Got lost in the middle of now where, our car got stuck in the sand! We had a breathtaking hike and saw the Putangirua Pinnacles. Celebrated Christmas in Nelson and went kayaking to Abel Tasman. Did a lovely horse ride on the beach at Abel Tasman National Park. We saw the Split Apple Rock. Slept in a cute hostel, we were exhausted. Did a hike at Farewell Spit. It's the longest sand spit of New Zealand and it was very impressive. We saw a seal at Wharariki Beach. After that we saw the clearest water at Takata Valley, called Pupu Springs. Went to Takatana a little hippish town. Nothing to complain. Celebrated New Year's Eve at Nelson! After tropical Nelson we hit the road to the Wild West coast. It was an amazing drive through the dramatically landscapes. We stayed in Westport for two nights. Catched some waves with our body boards. We saw the Pancake Rocks, Blowholes, the clear blue water at Hokita Gorge. Drove through Greymouth, Ross and Hokita to Franz Josef. We hiked to the Franz Josef Glacier, did a cool quad drive through the rainforest. Did the Minnehaha walk in the night to see the glowworms.
