Wildflowers in Western Australia
The Western Australian landscape is monochromatic except for a few weeks in spring when wildflowers strut their stuff. Finding the flowers involves traveling on back roads, collecting information from small town tourists centers, and luck. The spring crop is dependent on winter rains and transitional temperatures. These flowers were found 3-4 hours north of Perth. This video also contains photos of The Pinnacles, limestone monoliths seemingly sprouting from desert sand.

Wildflowers in Western Australia
The Rainbow Coast and the South West of Australia is home to one of the richest floras in the world.
Starting late in August and stretching into the southern hemisphere summer, wildflowers can be seen throughout the region. The colours spring forth from the undergrowth like waterfalls of colour. From oceanside to far within the forest canopy wildflowers are captivating.
As this video shows, one of the best places to see the botanical bonanza is at the West Cape Howe National Park in the Albany Region of the Rainbow Coast.
West Cape Howe National Park contains the most southern point in Western Australia, Torbay Head. Almost completely covered in heathland and forest and bearing the force of the Great Southern Ocean, this National Park is worth the visit.

This video is the culmination of a year's work in my multimedia presentation class. I am very passionate about Australian native flowers and spring is my favourite time of year. This year (2010) I spent about 6 weeks photographing flowers with and without a macro lens both for my fine art assignments and for the sheer joy it gives me to spend time documenting these little works of art. I hope this video captivates you with our unique and very beautiful wildflowers.
To see more of my work both with wildflowers and other fine-art subjects, please visit my site.
