Meiji-mura (博物館明治村 Hakubutsukan Meiji-mura, Meiji Village Museum) is an open-air architectural museum/theme park in Inuyama, near Nagoya in Aichi prefecture, Japan.
The museum preserves historic buildings from Japan's Meiji (1867–1912), Taisho (1912–1926), and early Shōwa (1926–1989) periods.
The most noteworthy building there is the reconstructed main entrance and lobby of Frank Lloyd Wright's landmark Imperial Hotel, which originally stood in Tokyo from 1923 to 1967, when the main structure was demolished to make way for a new, larger version of the hotel.

This is the home of the Mitsubishi Zaibatsu. Mitsubishi was established in 1873 by Yataro Iwasaki. It was originally a shipping company but quickly expanded into mining, banking and insurance. In the 1920 Mitsubishi expanded further into aircraft manufacturing. The Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter is probably the most famous aircraft built.
This building was built by Yataro's son. Design is Josiah Condor.

Hirosaki Park

Hirosaki is a castle town which located in Aomori Prefecture, Tohoku region in Japan.
There are traditional streets such as castles and samurai residences and western-style architecture built in Meiji Era.
They coexist in Hirosaki and you'll feel the beat of history.
Hirosaki has cherry blossoms festival in Hirosaki park which is the greatest cherry blossoms festival in Japan.
Hirosaki is also well known as best apple-producing district in Japan.
Aomori prefecture is a fertile soil with abundant natures.
For the reason that there is world heritage Shirakami-Sanchi, a lot of ski resorts and the area are surrounded by seas on three sides.

Rokkaen, Residence in Japanese and European styles in Kuwana city, Mie pref.

Rokkaen is a unique residence which has a mixed structure of the Japanese style and the European style.
The architecture was built in 1913 and is designated as Japan's important cultural property.

The garden of Rokkaen is also designated as a national beauty spot. The residence is well-preserved enough to deliver the air of Japan's early 20th century.

If you're interested in Japanese traditional houses, Rokkaen will hit the spot.

Kyū-Furukawa Gardens

Kyū-Furukawa Gardens is This mansion that was built by Baron Toranosuke Furukawa, which includes a western-style building and a western-style garden,and a Japanese-style garden. The western-style building and western-style gardens were completed in 1917, which were designed by English architect Josiah Conder (1852-1920). Conder was called father of Japanese modern architecture and also designed Rokumeikan and Kyu-Iwasaki-tei Garden, Holy Resurrection Cathedral. And the Japanese garden was completed in 1919, which was designed by Japanese-gardener Ogawa Jihei VII.

Kurashiki (倉敷市 Kurashiki-shi) is a historic city located in western Okayama Prefecture, Japan, sitting on the Takahashi River, on the coast of the Inland Sea.

As of March 31, 2017, the city has an estimated population of 483,576 and a population density of 1,400 persons per km². The total area is 355.63 km².

The modern city of Kurashiki was founded on April 1, 1928. Previously, it was the site of clashes between the Taira and Minamoto clans during the Heian period. It gradually developed as a river port. During the Edo period, it became an area directly controlled by the shogunate. Distinctive white-walled, black-tiled warehouses were built to store goods. During the Meiji Restoration (Japan's Industrial Revolution period), factories were built, including the Ohara Spinning Mill, which still stands as the nostalgic tourist attraction Ivy Square.

On August 1, 2005, the town of Mabi (from Kibi District), and the town of Funao (from Asakuchi District) were merged with Kurashiki.

Kurashiki is the home of Japan's first museum for Western art, the Ohara Museum of Art. Established in 1930 by Magosaburō Ōhara, it contains paintings by El Greco, Monet, Matisse, Gauguin, and Renoir. The collection also presents fine examples of Asian and contemporary art. The main building is designed in the style of Neoclassicism.

The old merchant quarter is called the Bikan historical area. It contains many fine examples of 17th century wooden warehouses (kura, 倉) painted white with traditional black tiles, along a canal framed with weeping willows and filled with koi. The area has no electric poles in order to make it more closely resemble the look of the Meiji period. One of the city's former town halls was located in the Kurashiki Kan, a European style building constructed in 1917.

In 1997 a theme park called Tivoli (after the park of the same name in Copenhagen) opened near Kurashiki Station. After ten years of operation it was closed in 2008, with a massive debt.

The Great Seto Bridge connects the city to Sakaide in Kagawa Prefecture across the Inland Sea.

Kenzo Tange, winner of the 1987 Pritzker Prize for architecture, designed the former Kurashiki City Hall in 1960.

Japanese Castle Cake “Around the World in 40 Cakes”

For my entry in Cake Masters’ Around The World in 40 Cakes, I was honored to be asked by the editors to create a cake for my country of birth, Japan. I wanted to pay tribute to both Japan’s history and it’s yearly love affair with the blooming of the Sakura or Cherry Blossoms as they are commonly known in the West. Every year, towards the end of March and into April, the whole of Japan begins to buzz with talk of the coming Sakura; “When do you think the sakura will bloom this year, early or late?”, “Where shall we have our hanami (picnic under the blossoms)?”, “Who’s going to make the Dango (rice candy)?”, Who’s bringing the Sake?!?”. and the television programming becomes quite dominated with programing dedicated to the flowers and the celebrations, it’s really wall to wall coverage!
Japan is also blessed with some truly beautiful, old style architecture and Japan’s classic Edo era castles are often surrounded by beautiful grounds and… Sakura, of course! The castle in my cake is based on the famous Hirosaki Castle in the northern prefecture of Aomori. It’s a beautiful spot that is popular with Japanese tourists as well as with newly weds for having their photographs taken in their traditional wedding garments. Which brings me to the fun little friends sitting at the castle; the girls are wearing their beautiful kimonos and one boy is wearing Hakama, which are traditional garment pants…And our last friend, well, he decided to wear his Ninja clothes (!)…….

The ancient castle at Kumamoto Japan in cherry blossoms with play of flamenco guitar

　On the 1st April 2012 I visited Kumamoto castle and captured it in images and movies by using EOS7D. After that I have edited them in a movie clip with guitar play by myself.

Traditional Village Aria Uchiko-town in Ehime

We can see the beautiful molding on these old-style Japanese houses, with thick cream-colored plastered walls and udatsu, a kind of fire wall with a roof, and wall decorations.
The traditional town of Uchiko is surrounded by much natural beauty and is located about 42 kilometers southwest of Matsuyama in the Ehime prefecture.
This traditional street is about 600 meters long and around 90 of these historical houses are still lived in. The campaign to preserve this old town area has been ongoing since 1975 and the national government designated this area as a Traditional Construction Preservation Area in 1982.

The area was built in Edo period, more than 200 years ago.

Hirakawa city
If you are a fan of Giburi movie, you definitely like Seibi-en .
It became the model for the Studio Ghibli movie “Kari-gurashi no Arrietty” in Japanese or The Secret World of Arrietty in North America
(Original story is “The Borrowers” by Mary Norton).

Hirakawa city is known with the Japanese traditional gardens which are well taken care of, and well preserved Kura, or Japanese warehouses.

Kyu (Former) Furukawa Gardens, Tokyo ーPart 1 「旧古河庭園」

The land of this garden used to belong to Munemitsu Mutsu, but when his second son became a son-in-law of the Furukawa Zaibatsu (combine) it changed hands and became a property of the Furukawas.
The current gardens are divided into two gardens: one is a Western-style garden with a Western-style house and a Japanese-style one. On this video you see the former with roses in full bloom. Incidentally, this building and garden were designed by the English architect Josiah Conder, who also designed such famous buildings as the Rokumeikan, The Holy Resurrection Church, Nikorai-do, the former Iwasaki Gardens.

JR駒込駅ちかくにある旧古河庭園の土地は、陸奥宗光の手を離れた後古河財閥のものになりましたが、建物と庭は後に建てられたものです。西洋式の建物と庭は、鹿鳴館、ニコライ堂、旧岩崎邸などを設計したジョシア・コンドルの手になるもので、実に見事な洋館と庭を作り上げました。四季様々な花が咲き乱れ、今の時期はバラの花が満開です。

Le Japon historique : Sur la route Kiso

Nous sommes partis à la découverte de la route Kiso au Japon. Appartenant à la célèbre voie Nakasendo reliant Kyoto à Tokyo durant l'ère Edo, la route Kiso emmène le voyageur dans un Japon authentique. Les paysages se succèdent comme les villages d'époques accompagnés par le travail unique des artisans de la vallée Kiso.
