Trams & buses at Airport West - Melbourne Transport
In this video we see some trams and buses at Airport West, a suburb situated around 11km northwest of the Melbourne CBD. It's named after it's geographic location, being just west of Essendon Airport, but is also situated less than 5km from Melbourne Airport.
Westfield Airport West shopping centre serves as the focal point for the area, and serves as the main hub for Tullamarine Bus Lines. It also serves as the northern terminus of the 902 Smartbus operated by Transdev, and the northern terminus of the route 59 tram. Kastoria's route 501 also passes through.
We start the video off by seeing various buses at the bus interchange. Tullamarine's fleet consists almost entirely of Mercedes Benz buses, mostly O405NH's and O500LE's with Volgren CR211L, CR228L and Optimus bodies. We also see their only bus that isn't a Mercedes, #26 which is a 2004 Dennis Enviro 200, made in Australia by Custom Coaches when the company was owned by Alexander Dennis. The unique bus run exclusively on route 490 to Gowanbrae. The Transdev buses seen include a Volvo B7RLE and some Scania K310UB's, which include some of their newest buses with the updated Gemilang bodywork. Kastoria buses seen include a Volvo B7RLE and a Mercedes Benz O500LE.
We then take a short walk to the tram terminus where we see some B2 Class trams.
The main purpose of this video was recorded the operations of Tullamarine Bus Lines, a company that now no longer exists. In April 2018 it was announced that the company had sold their entire operations to CDC Victoria, who took over the company on the 1st May 2018. With most Melbourne bus operators negotiating new contracts with the state government, I suspect this may have been a large factor in Tullamarine's decision to sell up. It's also not the first time a smaller bus company has sold up to CDC, with Driver Buslines selling their route operations to them in 2013.

English - The Westfield Shopping Centre at Airport West in Melbourne's North is located beside the Standard Gauge line to Sydney and Southern New South Wales and the Broad Gauge to Northern Victoria and The Goulburn Valley. The elevated view from the car park gives a great view as the trains pass by the shopping centre. The majority of the trains are freight and Pacific National Freight Trains are featured here. Qube and SCT also run trains but are not featured here. Passenger trains from NSW Trainlink XPT and V/Line Passenger Albury Service are also shown as they pass the shopping centre.
