Weymouth is a seaside town in Dorset, England, situated on a sheltered bay at the mouth of the River Wey on the English Channel coast. The town of Weymouth is 11 kilometres (7 mi) south of Dorchester and 8 kilometres (5 mi) north of the Isle of Portland. The town's population is 52,323 (2011). The town is the third largest settlement in Dorset after the unitary authorities of Bournemouth and Poole.
Weymouth is a tourist resort, and its economy depends on its harbour and visitor attractions; the town is a gateway situated halfway along the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site on the Dorset and east Devon coast, important for its geology and landforms. Weymouth Harbour has included cross-channel ferries, and is home to pleasure boats and private yachts, and nearby Portland Harbour is home to the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, where the sailing events of the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games were held.
The A354 road bridge connects Weymouth to Portland, which together form the borough of Weymouth and Portland. The history of the borough stretches back to the 12th century; including involvement in the spread of the Black Death, the settlement of the Americas, the development of Georgian architecture, and preparations for World War II.

Nothe Fort /noʊð/ is a fort in Weymouth, Dorset, England, situated at the end of the Nothe Peninsula, which juts eastwards from the town of Weymouth, and Weymouth Harbour, into the sea to the north of the ex-military Portland Harbour. The fort is located next to Nothe Gardens.
The coastal defence was built between 1860 and 1872 by 26 Company of the Royal Engineers to protect Portland and Weymouth Harbours, with Portland then becoming an important Royal Navy base. Shaped like the letter D, the fort was built with bomb-proof casemates and deep magazines.[1] The fort was abandoned in 1956 and purchased by the local council in 1961. It is now a museum and remains one of the best-preserved forts of its kind in the country.[2]
The fort and its outer gateway have been Grade II* listed since 1974.[3] Its fusee steps, located in Nothe Gardens, have been Grade II listed since 2000, and was constructed for hauling trolleys transporting ammunition, spares and stores from the quay to Nothe Fort.[4] In 1978, the Nothe Fort, tramway and searchlight battery at The Nothe, also became scheduled under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979.

Weymouth and Lodmoor Country Park off Preston road, County of Dorset, England. ( 6 )
Having seen the small example of Sand Sculptures on Weymouth Beach on the last few visits I decided to visit Lodmoor Country Park in Weymouth where a larger amount of Sand Sculptures are on display there. If you love the sand sculptures on the beach, you will absolutely love Sand World. Founded by local businessman David Hicks and Mark Anderson, Weymouth’s resident sand sculptor and Grandson of Fred Darrington, who together clock up an impressive 95 years of carving out of the famous Weymouth sands. In it’s eighth season, Sand World is a unique art gallery with a difference. Sand World in Weymouth, Dorset, is the UK's only all weather Sand Sculpture Festival. It is home to awe inspiring sculptures made entirely from Weymouth sand and water, some the size of a double decker bus. A different theme each year and ongoing projects throughout the season ensure that each trip to our attraction is a unique one.
We showcase enormous, breathtaking, life-sized works of art, created entirely out of sand and water by visiting world class, award winning sculptors. 2018 theme is TV & Film and will feature an enormous Star Wars scene, Game of Thrones, The Jungle Book, Super heroes & X-Factor to name but a few. Once inspired by the amazing art, the exciting bit happens; you get to have a go at creating your own masterpiece, be it a R2-D2, Spiderman or a Snake - anything is possible, as we have skilled staff and the necessary tools to guide you. There is a small cafe there along with a child’s section for making Sand castles etc.
Ticket Type Ticket Tariff
5yrs to under 16yrs £4.95 per ticket
Adult £6.95 per ticket
Senior £5.00 per ticket

The park itself is worth a visit there are enough attractions to spend a whole day here and its right on the sea Front section of Weymouth. Lodmoor Country Park is just a 15 minute stroll from the Esplanade and through Greenhill Gardens. You'll discover a host of independent attractions providing something of interest to entertain everyone. Access to most of the park is free and you can enjoy the numerous sport and recreation areas, wander around the footpaths and nature reserve or enjoy a picnic or barbecue.
Facilities
A small cafe provides refreshments for visitors to the park.
The Lodmoor pub has a large restaurant but also caters for passing lunchtime trade.
Picnic tables and barbecue stands available for the public to use throughout the year.
