Diving with Humpback Whales in Tonga -- Mother & Calf
HD underwater video of a mother Humpback Whale and her baby. While on a liveaboard in the Kingdom of Tonga we enjoyed the chance of diving with this little whale family. The mother Humpback whale just hung there, tail up while her baby frolicked. Strangely enough, we actually found them twice, the sightings being about 10 miles and one week apart..

Freediving The Arch In Tonga Ha'apai
Short clip from my Tonga holiday with Apnea Australia. Freediving down to The Arch at 25m deep. Had seen videos before of The Arch and never thought that I would be diving down to this incredible place. Was just amazing looking around at the coral reef and fish on The Arch. The holiday was a dream come true and can't wait to do it again with Apnea Australia. Could just hear the Whales all around the island when free diving here. Don't know what i did to deserve this even though I paid for the holiday feels like this was a privilege this place was just a gift. Untouched and nearly deserted this island only had a population of around 100. If anyone enjoys free diving and exploring or even just wants to swim with some humpback whales i highly recommend getting in contact with Apnea Australia and doing the whale encounters experience in Tonga! As you drop down on The Arch you can just hear your heart beating so slow and the world around you seems to move into slow motion and your whole body from head to toe is relaxed. The sound of the whales in the distance and fish sway with the swell. This place is paradise.

Swimming with whales in Ha'apai, Tonga, 2011. Much thanks to all the guides at Whale Discoveries and Fins 'n' Flukes. It was an awesome, and deeply moving experience. All footage taken by me with my trusty little Olympus Utough, underwater camera which even captured the whale talk and song at the end. Please protect the whales.

Mapping Tonga: Bringing Google Street View to the Pacific Kingdom
From urban sprawls, to mountain peaks, to the International Space Station, Google Street View has captured some pretty spectacular places, however much of the South Pacific remains unmapped. Grid Pacific is an organization started by Tania Wolfgramm and Wikuki Kingi who hope to put all of the Pacific Islands countries into Google Street View. In this short documentary watch as they return to Tania's homeland, The Kingdom of Tonga, a country of 169 islands, 36 of which are inhabited, and begin their mapping journey.

Eye to Eye with Whales in Tonga- Simon Millar
On a family holiday we had the awesome opportunity to swim with whales. We took over an hour and a half of footage of this swim which was simply awesome! After driving whale watching boats for over 13 years it was very special to be in the water with them! Very inquisitive and gentle whales and a fantastic guide from Matafonua. Thanks Darren for editing this short clip.
Kingdom of Tonga Vavau Island Group South Pacific Travel Destination
Tonga is a magnificently beautiful country. The Kingdom is a constitutional Monarchy, modeled after England and uses English law as its base. Located in the grand South Pacific, Tonga is between Tahiti and Fiji, an independent island nation in the southern Pacific Ocean, located approximately 650 km (approximately 400 mi) southeast of Fiji and approximately 1,850 km (approximately 1,150 mi) northeast of New Zealand. Tonga is the only remaining Polynesian monarchy. The Vava’u Island Group. This Cluster of islands, North of the Ha’apai Group, is the most spectacular in Tonga. Vava’u is Tonga’s northern island group, made up of over 60 high and thickly forested isles. An attractive, rather hilly main island surrounded by many others, Vava’u has high cliffs which combine to create many deep fiord-like bays. There are many good beaches but you will have to look for them. The main town of Neiafu is built on a hillside facing Port of Refuge Harbor, one of the best in the South Pacific. Neiafu, the administrative capitol of the Vava‘u Island Group, is one of Tonga’s principal ports. Rich, volcanic soils help make agriculture the primary economic activity in the islands, and products include copra, vanilla, and pumpkins. Vava’u Island is rather large and has kilometer after kilometer of beautiful countryside making for some interesting bicycle rides.
