Wheel Peevor
Wheal Peevor was a metalliferous mine located on North Country Downs about 1.5 miles north-east of Redruth, Cornwall, England. The first mining sett was granted here in around 1701 on land owned by the St Aubyn family.
It was originally mined at shallow depths for copper, but when the price for that metal slumped after 1788, the mine was able to change to mining tin ore, which was found deeper down.
In the late 18th century Wheal Peevor had the advantage of being drained by the Great County Adit which was around 100 metres deep here.
The mine covered only 12 acres (4.8 ha) but had rich tin lodes. In addition to tin and copper, pyrite was also mined here between 1872 and 1887
Great flat load & South Wheal Francis
This video is of Great flat load and South Wheal Francis at Piece, near Four lanes, near Redruth, Cornwall, UK. This was one of the big mines in Cornwall and is where a lot of the ore would have came from. This video shows different parts of the mine including the main engine house and the rooms for smelting and other things to do with the mine. The Camborne area was one of the richest mining areas in the world and the last mine, South Crofty mine, closed down in the 1990's but a Canadian company is wanting to open it again but with the big cost of opening it people don't know what to do and no, this mine wasn't (that I know) used to film Poldark!

Wheal Frances Mine- Daytime Investigation
Wheal Frances is a village in Cornwall, England, UK. It is located in the civil parish of Perranzabuloe. The village was noted for the South Wheal Frances Mine of which many ruins remain. Mining began in the local area in the early 1720s. After Lady Frances Bassett, the mineral Lord, offered a new lease on the land in 1834 it resumed production and experiences a golden period for ore production was the 1850s. By the early 20th century, several thousand men, women and children worked in the mine. A 75-inch cylinder pumping engine house with a was built at Marriott's shaft in 1847 and pumped water from Pascoe's shaft as well as Marriott's. In 1857 a 24-inch winder was installed in close proximity. Between 1896 and 1899 a major refurbishment of the shaft was undertaken, enabling mining to take places as far down as 6,000 feet. Due to a slump in tin prices during World War I it ceased operations in 1918.

It is documented that 14 people died here in mining accidents. There was probably a lot more but there is definitly 14 documented deaths that I have managed to find online at cmhrc...
In this video I explore the ruins of the old mining site and take some video clips in 1080 HD. I also do some EVP work and take some full spectrum photos because ghosts are said to be seen a lot better in this spectrum of light due to the so called ectoplasmic residue that they are said to be made up of. This is part 1 of the daytime investigation video and shows me attending the mine site at Wheal Frances for the very first time and walking around it taking photos and filming. Part 2 will be coming soon and it will have more videos and photos. I will be returning here again very soon to do a night time investigation with my night vision camera, digitial recorder, spirit box and k2 meter to try and capture any evidence.

HARRY POTTER LINK
Harry Potters Ford Anglia featured in the movie Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets was stolen from the South West Film studios in St Agnes, Cornwall in 2006. It was found in the grounds of the castle.
Police were left baffled as to how the 1962 car, which has no engine, was stolen and they feared thieves would sell it on for scrap or on the black market.
Carn Brea Castle, where the car was found, bears a striking resemblance to the Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft which features in the Harry Potter books.
CASTLE HISTORY
Carn Brea Castle on Carn Brea is a 14th-century grade II listed granite stone building which was extensively remodelled in the 18th century as a hunting lodge in the style of a castle for the Basset family. The building is now in private use as a restaurant.
The Castle is a small stone folly decorated in the romantic ideal style of a medieval/gothic castle. It has an irregular layout with 4 rectangular turrets round a core of the same height and an embattled parapet. The building is built into a large stone outcrop with a steep drop on the rear. The building was designed as a hunting lodge rather than a dwelling and measures 60 feet by 10 feet.
The Castle was originally built as a chapel, in 1379, thought to be dedicated to St Michael It has been extensively rebuilt in different periods since, primarily in the 18th century by the Basset family as a hunting lodge. It is considered a Folly castle, due to the huge uncut boulders that make up part of its foundations, giving the impression of the building melting into the land.
Its use as a beacon for ships was recorded in 1898 when stipulated in the lease, the tenant agreeing to show a light in the north facing window. The castle had periods of disuse and disrepair in the 1950s to 1970s, until private renovation in 1975-1980.The building was classed by English Heritage as grade II listed in 1975.
In the 1980s the building was converted into a Middle Eastern cuisine restaurant

Wheal Kitty shaft 18 Oct 2011.mp4
Went looking for two Wheal Kitty shafts on my way to work this morning. The ordnance survey shaft positions would seem to be accurate. This one looks like a beauty. it is quite small but if you listen to the stone drop it is dry and goes a long way. It is quite inclined and has an interesting building around the top of it.
I did tie myself to a tree before leaning over the edge to film in case you were wondering. I think it would take a long time to find me if i accidentally fell down that particular hole. Its completely hidden.
Looking forward to dropping it if i can get landowners permission.

Lintel shaft
We explore a lintel covered mine shaft in mid Cornwall.
The shaft goes to 2 levels, the top level at 70ft down is just a short 10ft drive and the lower level, at 90ft goes to small workings, a open winze and a decline shaft to water. The mine would have been mostly a copper and tin mine, possibly dating back to mid 1800's. A interesting off the map kind of explore.
