Illinois Adventure #1508 Wheels O' Time Museum
Come in and see, feel and listen to the products of the Past. The Wheels O' Time Museum is a museum of the Twentieth Century, which allows you to enjoy reminders of your childhood and how grandma and grandpa lived.
In 1979, two men had many antique and collector autos stored in various places in the Peoria, Illinois area. They started thinking about storing them in one place, such as a building on the north edge of the city. Nothing could be found that suited their needs, so they decided to erect a building. They found a five-acre tract which looked good, bought it, and thought about how nice it would be if other hobbyists joined them. They now have a large facility they call a Museum and it's open to the public.
Wheels O' Time Museum
Displays of vintage and classic autos, gas engines, fire engines, airplanes, tractors, musical instruments, juke boxes, toys, dolls, animated miniature circus, and many hands-on displays. Open May-October, Wednesday-Sunday, Noon-5 p.m. Located 8 miles north of downtown Peoria on Route 40 (1710 W Woodside Drive, Dunlap, IL 61525).

Railroad marvels over America
Follow the Rock River down to the Mississippi and you will find yourself in Rock Island Illinois, an important city in railroad history.
The mighty Rock Island line took the city's name when founded there in 1851 and was an important link to Wisconsin railroads west.
In the 1950s at the zenith of its 130 year existence, the Rock Island Line made a feel good movie about itself, American industry. and he American way of life. Last week, I highlighted 1950s trains and autos from the film. This week is the film itself edited down to 10 minutes.

The History of Cycling in Illinois with Librarian Chris Sweet
It is often forgotten that from 1890 until about 1930 bicycling reigned supreme as the most popular sport in America. Bicycle racers were well-paid celebrities and races routinely attracted thousands of spectators. The social elite were members of cycling clubs with private clubhouses. This period of cycling history is particularly significant because it had a direct impact on social progress in the areas of race, class and gender. Historically, Illinois was home to the majority of the country’s bicycle manufacturers (Schwinn being the most well-known). Bicycle races were big business in both Chicago and Central Illinois. Chris, Associate Professor of English Info Literacy Librarian, will explore this forgotten history, which has been buried in archives and old newspapers.

1955 Chevy Bel Air for Sale
Visit to see this 1955 Chevrolet BelAir Sedan for sale from Left Coast Classics in Sonoma California.
Great opportunity to own a very special Chevrolet Belair with an extremely short owners list!
This is a super cool and original 1955 Chevrolet Belair Sedan for sale. The factory inline 6-cylinder starts; runs and drives beautifully. There is no smoke and the engine is quiet and smooth. The automatic transmission shifts spot-on and the suspension and braking feel good. It's easy and relaxing to drive.
This Bel Air has been in California from the beginning and is an amazing survivor with just two owners and one repaint. This special time capsule comes from a collector friend of ours with a love for original, California cars with a short ownership list but especially big family cars of the sedan variety. As they say, They're only original once. Whenever he acquires one it heads straight to his mechanic for a thorough check-up and any deferred maintenance to ensure reliability.
The interior decodes as Gray/Coral though it is black. It looks to be 100% original to me including seats and panels. The car appears to have had exposure to the sun through most likely a garage window on the passenger side. I believe this to be the case because the seating areas front and rear are worn exactly the same front & rear. Again, given its age and originality, some patina is to be expected. But if you're anything like our friend, it's all about this originality and honesty that the car bares so well.
The car has been repainted once in its original colors many years ago though it still looks good. It has little or no signs of previous damage though expect some scuffs and chips as part of the charm. The floors are solid including the inner rockers, many undercarriage photos provided, especially on our site.
