Whian Whian State Conservation Area is a Protected areas of New South Wales, operated by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service.The park is west of Byron Bay, New South Wales and north of Lismore, New South Wales, in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. Boggy Creek Trail

Situated near Minyon Falls in Nightcap National park/Whian Whian State Conservation Area Boggy Creek Trail joins the Minyon Falls viewing area and Rummery Park Campground and is approximately 2km each way. Both Rummery Park and Minyona Falls are accessed via an unsealed road that is fine for 2WD vehicles. The trail itself lives up to its name so if you have old boots or walking shoes that would be best! Plenty of leeches - you've been warned!

Illegal rainforest logging at Hensleigh Creek, Errinundra Plateau -Win News

Easter Monday, Aprill 2015, Goongerah Environment Centre (GECO), discovers illegal rainforest logging at Hensleigh Creek on the Errinundra Plateau in East Gippsland, Australia.

A report was lodged with the Department of Environment and pressure was put on the Environment Minister Lisa Neville, to halt logging in the area and investigate why an estimated 1ha of protected rainforest had been bulldozed.

The Department of Environment Land Water and Planning (DELWP) investigated GECO's allegations and could not find sufficient evidence as the area had already been destroyed. Based on aerial mapping the DELWP said it was likely the area was rain forest and should have been protected, however because of the highly disturbed nature of the site a physical assessment could not be made and therefore an inconclusive ruling was reached. Basically the evidence had been logged.

Vic forests, who failed to inform contractors of the presence of rainforest, was put under the spotlight by the Environment Minister, Lisa NevilleMP who labelled the logging appalling and announced improvements to the regulatory system would be made. Several months later, no changes have been made and the volunteers who reported the rainforest logging have been issued with fines from the Victorian government. The minister responsible for issuing the fines is Agriculture minister Jaala Pulford. Despite her fellow cabinet minister condemning the logging and saying she'll act on our concerns, Jaala Pulford is shooting the messenger while VicForests continue to log under a veil of secrecy.
