Beautiful beach with white sand and clear water. The waves were big and consistent. Maybe too big for kids. My kids enjoyed them but it made mom and dad nervous. Whaihi is still our favorite beach so far. Whitiora is still beautiful and a must see.

A walk down to Whiritoa beach
The boys and I headed to Whiritoa (Coromandel) for a few days, it gave us plenty of time to have a good look around. My pop had a Bach here back in the early 70's so it was great to get the boys walking in my old footsteps.
This little vid is of us taking the 1min walk down to the main beach for a look....

Whiritoa Beach, Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand
Footage taken on a recent trip to the Coromandel area. Whiritoa beach was arguably our favourite beach for its mix of beautiful white sand with the odd black sand patch (pretty cool) and untouched feel.
A short walk at the end of the beach takes you over to Waimama Bay which is a bit rockier, has rugged cliff edges lined with hardy New Zealand pohutukawa trees and is well worth the walk even though it doesn't have the idyllic white sand look of Whiritoa Beach.

Walk to Waimama Bay Whiritoa
Just over the hill at the Northern end of Whiritoa is a 30min walk to a little gem called Waimama Bay, a nice morning and still a little swell rolling in this place was quite stunning. I remember as a young kid my dad walking over this ridge to go fishing - I think back then there was no walkway just a full on bush walk with just a little goat track....
