The White Horse - Kilburn, North Yorkshire - 26th Sep, 2018
The White Horse was designed and financed by Thomas Taylor, a Victorian businessman, and was completed in 1857. A native of Kilburn, he had seen the famous chalk hill figures of southern England and wanted to create something similar for his home village.
The village schoolmaster, John Hodgson, marked out the figure of a horse on a hillside high above the village, and a team of thirty-one volunteers did the actual cutting.
The White Horse is 314ft long and 228ft high, and about 20 people could stand on the grass island, which forms the eye, though walking on the horse is now strongly discouraged.

Passport And Visas Requirements To Enter The UK
Please note: Following the recent referendum vote for the UK to leave the European Union (EU), there are currently no changes in the way people travel to Britain. The following guidelines still apply:
If you're planning an adventure to the UK, depending on your nationality and your reason for visiting, you may need to organise a visa.
If you're an American, Canadian or Australian tourist, you'll be able to travel visa-free throughout the UK, providing you have a valid passport and your reason for visiting meets the immigration rules (link is external).
Citizens from some South American and Caribbean countries as well as Japan are also able to travel visa-free around the UK.
European Union citizens, non-EU member states of the EEA (Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland), Switzerland, and members of the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT) do not need a visa to enter the UK.

Driving in England. The view from my car cam, on the road up white horse bank in the county of North Yorkshire, England. Driving in the UK. White horse bank. Far steeper then it looks on the video winds up hill towards the Sutton bank gliding club. A parking area and picnic rest area part way up gives great views of the gliders and air tugs as they take off from the airfield above. Also a perfect spot to view the famous Kilburn white horse hill figure cut into the hillside and the starting point for some serious steep walking paths.
