The Navajo Road: Anasazi Ruin Discovery
Discovery of a large prehistoric Anasazi ruin on the Navajo Nation, while on 'The Navajo Road'.
Anasazi ruins on the Puerco
The BLM has done a good job of excavating and protecting this ruin, which is on top of a mesa near the Puerco River. This fortress-like structure told all who passed through who was in charge of this particular valley. This place is what the archaeologists call a Chacoan outlier community and is about 60 miles from Chaco Canyon. All who were traveling to Chaco from points south including Mexico would have passed through here. They came up the Rio Grande then turned northwest at the Puerco and just followed it up and then over the Continental Divide. This was a very good spot to pick to live too, which is easy to tell if you visit the place. At the beginning of this video in the immediate foreground you can see a small hill that appears to be carved out slightly on the top. I believe this was a signal mound. You can also see a distinct waterway that drains a canyon leading up to the Mount Taylor plateau. The bulk of the community lived up and along that canyon. At the end of the day this video was made I was near the upper end of the canyon and it revealed to me that it runs directly east-west. I could see the sun setting to the west, going right down between the canyon walls with no obstructions and behold in the other direction a full moon was rising to the east - straight up between the canyon walls with no obstructions. What a place.
A Day at Canyon de Chelly
On a recent trip to the Four Corners, we spent a day at Canyon de Chelly. Got up real early and hiked the 2.5-mile trail that goes down the canyon wall to the White House Ruins. One of the few trails that can be hiked without an Indian Guide. Beautiful colors and textures of the canyon & rock walls leads to this fabulous ruin that was first inhabited by the Anasazi Indians and is now part of the Navajo Reservation.

White House Ruins at Canyon De Chelly
This is called the white house ruins because one of the old houses is painted white. Another fantastic old pueblo of the Anasazi. This is the only hike within the canyon which you are allowed to go on without an authorized Navajo guide. I camped out at the campground at the start of the canyon and walked all the way to the ruins along the rim of the canyon and then down the public access trail. Absolutely fantastic walking in this area!

Hiking Canyon De Chelly Navajo Nation Arizona (HD)
Canyon de Chelly (pronounced de Shay) is in Arizona in the Navajo Nation. To go into the canyon you must go with a Navaio guide. Thank you Edwina for sharing your people's culture and history.
Reflecting one of the longest continuously inhabited landscapes of North America, it preserves ruins of the early indigenous tribes that lived in the area, including the Ancient Pueblo Peoples (also called Anasazi) and Navajo.

Mylungpuppy is the channel of musician Ron Anderson.
I have been making avant-music for over forty years in a number of different projects; PAK, The Molecules, RonRuins, Oblique Quartet and numerous collaborations and solo. I combine composition and improvisation exploring the regions where they intersect. Sometimes my music is brutal, but I’m not afraid of melody, in general my work is pretty much out there.
The main focus of my channel is music, but I also make vlogs on various subjects, cycling, touring and traveling, vegan food, rare vinyl LPs, audio field recordings, etc. Because not everyone is going to be interested in all the subjects covered on this channel, I have made playlists so you do not have to search through videos to find what you are looking for.
I try to answer questions and respond to as many comments as I can, any and all feedback from you is welcome.
I'm trying to make at least one or two new videos a week.
