White Lady / Brandberg / Twyfelfontein - NAMIBIA
Das Brandbergmassiv ist ein Bergmassiv im Damaraland in Namibia. Es liegt in der Region Erongo im Westen des Landes, rund 90 km vom Atlantik entfernt, ist im Mittel 2500 m hoch und überragt das umgebende Land um fast 2000 m.
In der Umgebung von Twyfelfontein sind insgesamt über 2500 Bilder auf über 200 Felsplatten beschrieben worden. Diese Felsbilder wurden auf verschiedene Weise hergestellt.
Die Weiße Dame (englisch White Lady) ist eine Felsmalerei in der Tsisab-Schlucht des Brandbergmassivs in Namibia.
Die Figur ist 45 Zentimeter hoch und wurde am 4. Januar 1918 durch den deutschen Universal-Wissenschaftler Reinhard Maack (1892–1969) entdeckt. Er interpretierte sie richtig, wie man heute vermutet, als Krieger, maß ihr aber keine große Bedeutung bei, wodurch sie wieder in Vergessenheit geriet.

A visit to the White Lady rock painting of the Brandberg - Namibia
Myself and friend Nancy Ogilvie were gifted an opportunity to visit this sacred painting, that I Sean Caulfield have so been inspired by in my art - rockartgallery.com
It was a moment I have been dreaming about for sometime but well worth the walk in the heat and luckily we had very nice river water flowing to cool down with. This moment of arriving was surreal in that it came about so harmoniously. The energy at the site itself was grounding and pure. I felt my heart pour open in gratitude to the artists of old that would have for ceremonial reasons painted this sacred work of art, in honour of a connection to spirit, in some sacred way. The White Lady himself is a young boy being initiated into becoming a man, a warrior and medicine person for his peoples. There has been much controversy over this painting, not only because it is called a lady but is a man, yet that is also debatable, but it has an Egyptian look about her. Maybe it is the balance of the male and female energy, it to me also has a feeling of the Egyptian God Ra. This rock art site is in a grand mountain range called the Brandberg(FireMountain or BurningMountain) that has many crystals of which I bought some from the local crystal miners too. This exceptionally detailed painting comes from the Brandberg in Namibia. Even though it is still called 'The White Lady' it has been known for many years that the painting in actual fact depicts a male figure. Clues to this include the very obvious fact that he carries a bow and various arrows in his hand, objects only used by men the hunters, as well as the fact the he has a penis (not so visible in this reproduction due to fading). He also carries a ritualistic object in his hand, which some have described as a cup of some sort, but it is most likely a flywhisk. Again the word 'fly-whisk' is deceiving in terms of usage. A fly-whisk is in actual fact used for certain rituals, such as during a trance-dance, and is made from the tail of an animal, usually a wildebeest but it can also be another animal's tail, such as a gemsbok. The white on the lower half of the body probably signifies initiation, as different tribes in Africa, to represent the process of potency often use this colour. It could also represent potency, due to the fact that in bushmen rock art, white is reserved for special occasions and significant spiritual symbolism. Note also the very detailed and elaborate beadwork worn around the wrists, top of the arms, chest, waist and knees.

We started in Brandberg at The White Lady Lodge and continued our trip to Twyfelfontein in search of the desert elephants. We visited the rock engravings and the organ pipes. CRAZY NAMIBIA - DAMARALAND & SKELETON COAST | TRAVEL VLOG
Today's vlog starts in Etosha National Park campsite. We drive south towards Damaraland, an area that amazed me. I am happy with the drone footage I managed to get there of the endless desert and rock formations! From Damaraland our road trip continues to the Skeleton Coast.
This was such a hard video to make! Being completely new to vlogging, I just kept on forgetting to pick the camera up and vlog. I filmed lots of other stuff but the segments of me creative a running storyline were lacking so I had to get a little creative in putting this video together. I hope it works for you guys! I will get better, I promise!

We went on an exciting 2-week road-trip around Namibia. Namibia is a country found on the south west coast of Africa. It's one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world so largely untouched.
Join us on our road-trip as we travel round the country in a pick-up truck, sleeping in a roof-top tent.
Today's vlog starts on the border to Etosha. We prepare to drive to the mysterious Damaraland, a place I hadn't really heard much about. Little did I know, Damaraland was going to be a place of wonder and perhaps the craziest, most beautiful place I have ever seen!
After 1 night in Damaraland, it's time to head to the Skeleton Coast, somewhere I've been dying to visit for years.
