Family Adventures in the Canadian Rockies
Sunshine Meadows Banff Canada
The Sunshine Meadows are known by many as the most stunning alpine setting in the Canadian Rockies. Surrounded by some of the Rockies' highest peaks, the unobstructed views are beyond compare.
Sunshine Meadows in Banff National Park could easily be considered one of Alberta’s most scenic hikes—and the real beauty of it is that you don’t even have to work that hard to enjoy the million-dollar views. Located in the popular Sunshine Village ski resort, the trails open up as soon as the snow melts, revealing plenty of well-marked trails which wind past piercing blue lakes, fragrant meadows bursting with wildflowers and spectacular vantage points of the surrounding mountain ranges.

Our magical mountain elopement!
4 years ago today, Kristyn and I ran away to Banff and eloped amongst the mountains. We have been on many adventures and made many life changes since our wedding but the fun never ends! Hope you enjoy our wedding as much as we did!
Happy Anniversary to us!
P.S. - 3 weeks later we surprised our family and friends with a fake wedding where we showed them all the video and celebrated together...and it was amazing.

Hiking Banff National Park Rocky Mountains
The Sunshine Meadows are a natural garden set at an altitude of approximately 2,300 metres (7,500 feet). It is located within the peaks of the Canadian Rocky Mountains of Banff National Park. From the vantage point of Sunshine Meadows one has a clear view of Mount Assiniboine, the highest peak in the region at 3,618 metres (11,870 feet).
There is no public road access to Sunshine Meadows, and thus it can be reached either by hiking several kilometres from the area of the Sunshine Village ski resort, located near the resort town of Banff, or by using the Gondola (Fri-Mon) or Alpine Shuttle Bus (Tues-Thurs) which departs from the Sunshine Village base area.

Excerpt from our Sunshine Meadows hike description on 10Adventures.com
The Sunshine Meadows hike is the easiest way to get into the alpine in the Canadian Rockies. The trail starts at the base of Sunshine Ski hill, and you can take the bus or Gondola to the Sunshine Ski village and hike from there. Rock Isle Lake is truly stunning!
Getting to Sunshine Village is via gondola Friday thru Monday or a bus shuttle on Tuesday thru Thursday. It’s worthwhile to book your ticket in advance on the Sunshine Meadows website.
To start this hike, you’ll need to buy a gondola ticket or bus ticket from Sunshine Village. We prefer going by Gondola, as it provides nice views.
Once off the Gondola (or bus) you’re in the base village of Sunshine Village, a popular ski hill known for the legendary powder snow. In summer, the village is much quieter, as summer is the off-season.

BANFF NATIONAL PARK ADVENTURE: SUNSHINE MEADOWS + BANFF SURROUNDINGS GoPro6 4K [SARA&NIL] [9]
Another unforgettable weekend in Canada! Sara and I spent the Saturday in Sunshine Meadows, what is usually a ski station during the cold season here in Alberta. We took a gondola and a chairlift to the top and started hiking from there. We still had some extra time so we stopped at Silverton Waterfalls. Lake Louise campground was full (obviously as it is one of the most crowded places during summer) so we spent the night at the overflow parking lot, just 5min from Lake Louise (only for 10.90CAD the night).
After waking up we stopped at Lake Louise, Vermillion Lakes and Cave and Basin National Historic Site (be aware of the stinky sulfates of the thermal waters). After it, and as we where next to it, we parked the car in the amazing Bow Falls. Just on the other side of the river you can spot Surprise Corner, with views of Banff Village and the falls. From there there is a 2 hour round walk that takes you to de famous and breathtaking Hoodoos. They are actually big! And that's it! We had some raviolis for lunch and couldn't avoid to stop at McDonald's for a McFlurry!!!
