Official Ceremony for the raising of Totem Poles in White Rock
The City of White Rock, White Rock RCMP Detachment and Semiahmoo First Nation have had a long standing relationship based upon mutual respect. In fact, in 1999, two totem poles were raised on East Beach, at Totem Park as a sign of working towards reconciliation, understanding and mutual respect, and a shared responsibility for maintaining relationships. This site was blessed as a spiritual site by the Semiahmoo people and the poles raised according to their traditions. White Rock’s community rallied and helped raise funds for this legacy project. In 2009, Totem Plaza was dedicated to the memory of Grand Chief Bernard Robert Charles, Chief of the Semiahmoo First Nation from 1963-1996.
White Rock Coffee With Attitude Owner Laura Cornale and Team at 'Five Corners', White Rock BC
Laura's coffee and lunch crew is Francine and Robynn from Monday to Saturday [closed Sundays] from 7 AM to 5 PM this coffee and lunch place is energized by its owner and hopping and bopping of hungry guests, tourists from all over and of course the 'regulars' who come here as punctual as the Rotary clock on the White Rock Pier on Marine Drive West..
This is the coffee house in paradise on the Canadian Riviera. It is conveniently located in the 'old' town of this seaside resort so much known for its Seaside, beaches and its two totem poles, museum, many restaurants on the Marine Boulevard, sorry pardon me, I mean , Drive, west and East. OK LET ME MENTIONED 'PARKING METERS' PER SE OR THE DISOPENSIN 'YELLOW BLUE' contraptions fed by visitors with loonies or twoonies to satisfy the 'Parking Division' need of revenues. But not where Coffee with Attitude is located. Parking FREE and the address to the coffee and lunch heaven for many is simply 15202 Pacific Avenue or what most residents know as the 'Five Corners' Where Buena Vista Av. and Johnston Road join pavements. You cannot miss it . Enjoy the good coffees, the abundance of home made high quality , nutritionally sound breads, cakes, pasteries, pies..and else on the menu. You will not forget your venture in this relaxed and typically 'local' hang-out. Let me say , ;You just haven't been in White Rock if you haven't been to 'Coffee with Attitude' Lorna, Robyn and Francine, all three says Welcome.
White Rock Jan. 1st 2011; 'Polar Bear Swim Time'. White Rock Reporter By The Fireplace
A message from the WhiteRockReporter by the Fire.
Happy New Year...2011 will be the year of surprises, big changes and great advancements for the White Rock Community..'things will never be the same. Enjoy the beauty surrounding White Rock, the train tracks, the pier and the totem poles. Don't forget the museum and the cultural ambience saturating our environs.....!
And by all means start to try to buy Canadian products and services, If we do not there won't be any local merchants around....in the future. Only eateries and gelatos will be the muse of the day.
Have hope..there will be a civic election this year..a new Council or administrative body per se and some other changes.
Working hard for the community doesn't cut it anymore. It must be 'working smart' for the community, instead.

White Rock British Columbia Beach
The beach is divided into East Beach and West Beach for the sake of orientation, separated by a slight rise in the shoreline which locals refer to as The Hump.
Grand Chief Bernard Memorial Plaza at the edge of Lions Lookout Park on East Beach is one of the more picturesque access points. The Ka'Kan totem pole represents the Coast Salish spiritual belief of the Semiahmoo Aboriginal peoples, that raising a house post provides protection and love of the Creator. The adjacent Haida Gya Ana pole is a historical document of family heritage and status. The poles commemorate 125 years of RCMP service to the area.

A day at the beach
A glimpse of Farmers' Market White Rock ; a day of recognition of Semiahmoo First Nation Band.
Closer to noon I discovered the rain or drizzle had ceased and visitors to the Farmers Market walked in comfort and enjoyed the , by now, much warmer winds than we experienced earlier in the day before noon.
I am pleased to announce the sponsorship of this 'Candid Video' to be Surfside Flooring on Russell Avenue by Johnston Road, White Rock .

Yanyeidí totem pole raising
There's a new totem pole overlooking Sandy Beach in Juneau. The Yanyeidí Gooch (Wolf) Totem Pole is meant to honor the T’aakú Kwáan and the residents of “Akáx Yaa Andagán”, Douglas Indian Village that the City of Douglas burned down in 1962 to make way for a harbor and park.
