Whitewater World And Dreamworld's ┊AquaLoop┊Super Tubes Hydrocoaster┊Waterslide
►WhiteWater World is a water park situated in the suburb of Coomera on the Gold Coast, Australia. It is owned and operated by Ardent Leisure and is the sister park to Dreamworld.
After years of planning and a year of construction, WhiteWater World opened to the public on 8 December 2006. The ten Australian beach culture themed attractions cost approximately A$56 million. These included The Green Room, Super Tubes Hydrocoaster, The Rip, The BRO, Temple of Huey, Cave of Waves, Wiggle Bay, and Pipeline Plunge. Since then, four additional water slides: two called Little Rippers, one called The Wedgie and one called the Triple Vortex have been added, with newly revealed plans for a $7 million expansion starting in 2019.
►History
Development
In 2004, Macquarie Leisure began planning a water park to be located next to the company's existing Dreamworld theme park. Dreamworld's Chief Executive Officer Stephen Gregg and General Manager of Special Projects Bob Tan visited water parks around the world to discover the most thrilling and cutting-edge water rides available. Later Tan was quoted saying ...the drawing board for the new park was a restaurant napkin in a little cafe in the US.
On 28 November 2005, Macquarie Leisure announced it would invest $56 million on the Dreamworld Water Park project, with construction commencing shortly thereafter.
The existing Dreamworld car park was redesigned to accommodate more cars and the addition of a water park in the southern portion. Construction of the water park began in January 2006. In June, two of the three slide towers were complete, with several slides in the early phases of construction. One month later, several attractions were announced by the park with others being speculated upon. Some attractions were nearing completion in September and all the planned attractions had been revealed by October.
WhiteWater World opened three weeks ahead of schedule on 8 December 2006 after a week of previews. The park opened with ten attractions, including The Green Room, The Rip, Super Tubes Hydrocoaster, The BRO, The Temple of Huey (3 individual slides), Pipeline Plunge, Wiggle Bay and the Cave of Waves. At this time, the park featured many Australian and world firsts: The Rip and Super Tubes Hydrocoaster were both Australian firsts; The BRO was a world first;[ and The Green Room was Australia's biggest Tornado slide[18] After six months of operation Macquarie Leisure announced that WhiteWater World attracted 247,360 visitors, producing a revenue of $8.7 million and a profit of $4 million.

WhiteWater World performed above expectations after opening with approximately 23,000 guests between 8 December and 31 December 2006. WhiteWater World continued to exceed Macquarie Leisure's expectations during its first year of operation. The first year saw 493,227 guests, exceeding the 450,000 estimate, earning the park over $8.4 million in revenue. The park continued to perform well in subsequent years with an 18.4% increase in attendance in 2008.
In June 2009, Macquarie Leisure was renamed to Ardent Leisure as part of a corporate repositioning which saw the company split from Macquarie. In August 2010, Ardent Leisure announced a decline in revenue and profits in its theme park division. It stated that a capital expenditure plan had been endorsed which would ...strengthen ride inventory and consumer appeal.
WhiteWaterWorld is currently ranked as one of the world's most water efficient parks because of its sustainable water management and environmentally friendly technology.
►Expansion
At a shareholders conference on 23 August 2019 Ardent Leisure announced a $7-million investment[49] into WhiteWater World, with the first attraction being a new waterslide complex named 'Fully 6' featuring six new body slides and multi-coloured natural light effects. Construction of the slide complex, designed and manufactured by Swimplex-Polin Australia had already begun at this point with plans to open to the public in late 2019.

Dreamworld deaths and other Australian theme park accidents
A tragic accident at Dreamworld in Queensland, Australia has led to the deaths of 4 people on a ride known as Thunder River Rapids.
Due to the horrific nature of the injuries the Police forensic crash unit were called in with forensic pathologists to examine the victims in-situ (in their original position). The Coroner has also examined the scene.
****************
The horror theme park accident that killed four people at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast was caught on CCTV, police have confirmed as investigations into the tragedy began in earnest.
Police were called to the site at Coomera around 2.20pm following reports that a number of people had been injured by a conveyor belt, a police statement read.
Four adults have been confirmed as being deceased.
The four victims were on board the Thunder River Rapids ride, which involved six-person circular rafts riding a heavy man-made current. The rafts can reach speeds of up to 45km per hour.
Aerial footage shows one of the water ride's six-seat circular rafts flipped on the conveyor belt that usually delivers them back to the boarding and disembarking area.
It is believed the ride was drained of water while attempts were made to rescue the four people.
According to Dreamworld, visitors as young as two years old can ride the Thunder River Rapids, but under-fours must be accompanied by an adult.
*******************
Queensland Ambulance Service acting senior operations supervisor Gavin Fuller said two people were ejected from the ride and the other two were caught in the ride.
They were assessed by Queensland Ambulance personnel and had all sustained injuries that were incompatible with living, he said.
Mr Fuller said responders had been deeply affected by what they had seen and would be offered counselling.
Inspector Reid said forensic pathologists had examined the victims, two women aged 32 and 42 and two men aged 35 and 38, in situ and the Queensland coroner had also examined the scene.
We have specialist police here engaged with witnesses and those people are being offered support, along with the responding police are being offered appropriate support as well, he said.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said police and workplace health and safety were doing a thorough investigation and expected that to continue until early Wednesday morning.
I understand there were many witnesses and I want to thank paramedics and police who were there, she said.
I have been told the scene was horrific.
Everyone is in deep shock that this has actually happened at one of our most popular theme parks, our heart goes out to family and victims.
****************************
The Dreamworld website earlier said the ride was meant to be closed yesterday for annual maintenance and would not reopen until next week. That information was later removed from the site, though the theme park is yet to respond to requests for comment.
A witness at Dreamworld said there had been problems on the Thunder River Rapids Ride earlier in the day and engineers were called in.
We were waiting there for about half an hour and the engineers had to come, the visitor reported.
They drained all the water out and then had to fill it all back up.
**************************
Dreamworld CEO Craig Davidson said his company was shocked.
Dreamworld confirms that at approximately 2.20pm today, an incident occurred on the Thunder River Rapids Ride that resulted in the tragic deaths of four people, he said.
At this stage the park is closed and Dreamworld is working closely with police and emergency services and authorities to establish the facts around the incident.
We are deeply shocked and saddened by this and our hearts and our thoughts go to the families involved and to their loved ones.
