More info about Cathedral Cove from Wikipedia:
Te Whanganui-A-Hei (Cathedral Cove) Marine Reserve is on the Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand, covering an area of 840 hectares (2,100 acres).
Cathedral Cove is named after the arch located there, linking Mare's Leg Cove to Cathedral Cove. Gemstone Bay and Stingray Bay are also within the reserve. A walking track exists from the northern end of Hahei Beach, and it is also possible to walk from the local authority car park at the top of the headland between Hahei and Gemstone Bay. The area is very popular with tourists, and receives around 150,000 visitors per year.
Boat and kayaking tours come from Whitianga in the north and Hahei in the south to visit the area. Both coves contain shapely natural rock stacks, Sphinx Rock in Mare's Leg Cove, and Te Hoho Rock in Cathedral Cove. Stingray Bay, and in particular Gemstone Bay, are popular snorkelling and diving areas, as marine life within the reserve boundaries is plentiful. In Gemstone Bay there is also a snorkel trail marked by the Department of Conservation. Both bays are also accessible by paths leading down from the main walking path to Cathedral Cove.
The Māori name Te Whanganui-A-Hei (the Great Bay of Hei) refers to Hei, a tohunga from the Te Arawa waka. According to tradition, Hei chose the area around Mercury Bay as home for his tribe, proclaiming ownership by calling Motueka Island Te Kuraetanga-o-taku-Ihu (the outward curve of my nose.) It is said he made this claim near the site of the present-day of Hahei.
The cave and beach was used as the tunnel through which the Pevensie children first re-enter Narnia in the movie version of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. More recently the cove was used as one of the locations in the music video for the song Can't Hold Us by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring Ray Dalton.
Hope you learnt something new! Catch you soon mates!! :)

Cathedral Cove Walk
Located at Hahei on the Coromandel peninsula, Cathedral Cove is one of the “must visit” sites on the Coromandel. It's a very popular tourist destination so visit at sunrise or early evening if you want to avoid the crowds.
But first it is important to know that the car park at the start of the track is closed, it's now only a drop-off zone, but you have a few other options to consider:
1) free parking is available at the entrance to the village instead, from there walk via the beach to the start of the walk, or
2) Use the park and ride shuttle bus available from the free parking area (It costs $5 return per person, $3 for a child and $10 for a family (2 adults 2 children)
For more up to date rates please visit: or
3) Use the water taxi service that runs from Hahei beach which is $15 per person per trip
4) Or pay a local who offers parking on their property, this might vary but we paid $10, we found this quite convenient and close to the start of the track.
Disclaimer:
All prices mentioned was valid at the time this video was uploaded, please visit the provided links for more up-to-date rates and information.
Cathedral Cove is accessible only by foot, boat or kayak, and is considered one of best short walks you can do, it offers stunning views of the Coromandel coast and takes you past dramatic cliff formations to where it ends at the iconic rock archway of Cathedral Cove.
Along the way you have 2 other side tracks which is well worth the visit, The first one is Gemstone bay which offers excellent snorkeling.
Next up is Stingray bay, this must be one of the most beautiful beaches on the Coromandel! white sand, dramatic white cliffs and turquoise water.
From here is the last stretch to Cathedral Cove, the whole track is well graded but has some really long and steep hill sections.

The potential this large property offers is huge. Start with expanding the existing Avocado blocks with the adjoining 20+ hectares which is simply perfect for avocados and just screaming out 'plant me'! This is premium north facing horticulture land with high quality Waihi ash soil, is well sheltered with high annual rainfall; this sets the scene for a really substantial sized avocado block and with fantastic views! The current orchard is home to 450 mature Hass on Zutano trees which are 18 years old. There is plenty of shedding; including a three bay orchard shed which houses the orchard machinery including the 6m Hydralada which stays with the property. This pristinely presented rural block totals 64 hectares which is a mix of flat to gently rolling contour and only lightly farmed, carrying over 100 head of cattle. There is a central race system and the farm is subdivided into 40 paddocks with water reticulated to paddocks from the spring fed water damn. You can even go duck shooting on these dams! An intensive annual fertiliser programme is used for the orchard and the farm, fencing is perfect, this really is an immaculate block. Wetland and native bush areas have been established and there's two blocks of 14 year old pines. Two sets of stock yards, weigh station, hay barns, machinery, avocado crop and an old cow shed now used as a workshop- all complete this easily managed farm and orchard. But don't forget the land isn't the only star here - the 335sqm (approx.) brick home with three bedrooms, office, huge rumpus room, kitchen with walk in pantry and two lounge areas is a must see too. With loads of sunny outdoor areas, beautifully established grounds complete with ponds - there is something here for everyone in the family. Located only 20 minutes from Whitianga or the quaint white sands of Hahei, Cathedral Cove, Cooks or Hot water Beach and all the splendid things that the Coromandel has to offer - beaches, fishing, boutique shops, great restaurants, hunting, festivals and wineries. You can leave the stresses of city life behind - no traffic lights, no peak hour traffic, no city hustle and bustle - just you and your imaginings. In fact, with all the fishing to be done here, you just might not have time to work on the orchard this week!
