when the wind not enough for kaiting ...
Stigero Skiathos
Stigero beach is a secluded cove located on the northern side of the island. It is surrounded by sparse pieces of rock and thick sand and crystalline waters. The area is not protected by the strong winds and the sea becomes abruptly deeper, therefore it is not an ideal place for families. Stigero can be reached by boat, and this is why it remains such a secluded beach, with no tourist facilities around. Some parts of the beach are used for naturism, as this is a place where visitors can enjoy total privacy.
Kiting in Greece (Zante)
Alzi having it large in Greece!!!!
The Lycian way
In ancient times, a mining area located in the South-West of Asia Minor, in the region of the Teke Peninsula, was called Lycia.
On the West it bordered with Karya,
on the North with Phrygia and Pisidia,
on the East with Pamphylia
and washed by the Mediterranean sea on the South.
The coastline is strongly indented in Lycia.
There are many bays, islets and sheltered coves.
And internal areas are occupied by fertile valleys separated by spurs of the Taurus range.
At the end of the XX century, an Englishwoman named Kate Clow, paved the Lycian tourist route.
It became one of the most popular trail in the world.
Disparate roads, trails and goat paths are connected in a single path, with a total length of 509 kilometers.
The trail is marked with red and white marks.
In some places, they are more common and in others, less common.
And sometimes completely lost or hidden in dense vegetation.
There are numerous signs along the trail.
They show the direction to the nearest historical attractions or large settlements.
You can go on the path without a guide.
Of course, you may end up strayed.
Mutual assistance between tourists helps them to find their way.
The most difficult area to for orientation are the fields lined with pyramids of stones. They are called the ducks.
The Lycian trail streches along the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, from Fethiye to Antalya.
The path goes through forests and mountains, agricultural areas, ancient ruins, villages and abandoned villages.
The route is made so that it can be walked with ease.
It is never more than one day's walk, from one rest area to the next.
On the way, you can easily find restaurants, snack bars and grocery shops.
With the alternative of travelling with a tent, cooking over a campfire and sleeping under the stars.
There are no organized campsites in Turkey.
A tent can be placed anywhere without any restrictions.
It's easy to find drinkable water and wood for the fire.
There are also springs, rivers, lakes and wells.
You can easily ask for water in any home.
The Turks are a very hospitable people.
Especially to foreigners.
Local residents not only willingly undertake to fulfill traveler's requests,
they also invite them for tea, food and shelter.
The trail can be walked at any time of the year.
But the ideal season remain Spring or Autumn.
As Summers are too hot and Winters too wet.
The most popular season on the trail — May holidays.
The Lycian trail begins on the outskirts of Fethiye.
From Oludeniz, she abruptly goes into the mountains.
The path reaches the sea for the first time, in the area of Kabak, on a small pebble beach.
The water is still cold and swimming is unattractive.
But it is already quite comfortable to sleep in the tent. It is not cold.
The Lycians founded their cities in the most convenient places.
Most often on the top of a mountain or on the river bank.
On a hill at the mouth of the Xanthos river in the Mediterranean sea, there was, in ancient times, a port city called Pindi.
There were 23 major cities in Lycia.
One of the most important was Xanthos.
It was founded by settlers from Crete in the VIII century BC.
The City was the capital of the Lycian Union.
And later became a part of the Roman Empire.
Only fragments remain from the high walls.
The port city of Patara was founded in the VI century BC.
It was one of the largest cities in the Lycian Union.
Here lived the Roman Emperor Hadrian.
And on the way to Rome stayed in St. Paul.
The holiday village of Kalkan has replaced the Greek village of Kalamaki.
Now this village, is popular amongst those who prefer a quiet and relaxing holiday by the sea.
On the shore, at the foot of the cliff under Felos, was in ancient times, the port of Antiphellos. It is briefly mentioned in Homer's Illiad. The inhabitants of this city fought on the side of the Trojans.
The ancient city of Myra was in the Lycian Union.
The amphitheatre was designed for 30 thousand seats. We can see many rows of seats of the audience, the scene and arches covered galleries, still perfectly preserved.
Roman Emperor Julius Caesar and the Apostle Paul were visiting here. At the beginning of the IV century, the local Bishop was Nicholas, from Patara. He performed many miracles and was canonized.
The trail goes along the slopes protected the Göynük canyon.

Other Stunning Beaches
This incredible destination is arguably the most scenic beach in all of Greece, let alone all of Europe. Navagio Beach aka Shipwreck Beach is paradise on earth with its turquoise waters, beautiful coastal views and is even home to an actual shipwreck hence the name Shipwreck Beach. The beach is only accessible by boat, however, the best pictures are taken from atop the towering sea cliffs, which you can visit by vehicle.

Kalami beach, Kassopei, Corfu island, Greece, my favorite place in Corfu
Kalami Guide
Kalami Corfu is considered to be one of the most tranquil beauty spots in Corfu. It is a horseshoe-shaped bay, with a rare beauty of the Greek uniqueness of nature. The amphitheatric greenery accompanied with the Ionian Sea and the hillside villages around Kalami Corfu are a perfect combination for an idyllic and relaxing environment
What is Kalami beach like?
Kalami beach proudly flies the blue flag, the European standards symbol awarded to beaches that are clean and well organized. It offers a wide range of water sports including water-skiing, canoeing, pedalos and boat hire. There are also sun beds and umbrellas available for hire. The beach itself is a pebbly beach and the water is crystal clear and absolutely attractive to the holidaymakers.
Who is best to go to Kalami?
Kalami is suitable for most people coming on holiday. With Kalami being a typical small Greek village, it is not for people who want a lively holiday. The emphasis put on this village is relaxation and tranquillity. Kalami is ideal for family holidays, for people who enjoy the romance, the nature and the simple life of the Corfiot country. If you are a lover of peaceful and quite holidays, then Kalami is definitely your destination.
Self-catering facilities
In Kalami Corfu you can find a range of facilities including traditional Greek tavernas all idyllically situated on the beach, few bars and pool bars for refreshments, snacks and drinks during the day and night, super markets, gift shops and tourist offices.
There are two phone boxes accepting phone cards, which can be purchased from “Giorgos” super market. There is also a phone for public use in our travel office.
The post box is painted yellow and is adjacent to “Giorgos” super market, where you can buy stamps.
What can I do in Kalami and what can I see?
If you like exploring and walking, there are some beautiful coastal and scenic walks where you can visit nearby bays, the picturesque little harbour of Kouloura (approx. 15 min. walk), the next bay on the right of Kalami, which is one of the best highlights of the northeast coast of Corfu, then Kerasia (approx. 30 min. walk) and San Stephanos (approx. 1h 15 min. walk). On the other side of Kalami you can reach Yaliskari - or Gialiskari - bay (approx. 15 min. walk), which is an isolated and unexploited beach with vivid green and crystal water and a little further Agni bay (approx. 25 min.walk) with three traditional taverns.
Kalami is well known as the place where the Nobel Prize nominated author, Lawrence Durrell, once lived in the White House, and wrote excellent novels as “Prospero’s Cell”. The White House is still preserved at the end of Kalami bay from the beginning of the 20th century.
Be entertained with the various water-sports or hire a boat to explore the unspoiled beaches of the northeast coast. You can go on numerous excursions by coach or boat to explore the rest of Corfu or other neighboring islands.
On the 21st of May is the name day of Saints Constantine and Helen. The local church of Saints Constantine and Helen is located on the main road nearby the village Gimari (the top village over Kalami). The local people celebrate the name day of the Saints with a festival in the back yard of the church. There is plenty of food with souvlakia or grilled lamb and soft drinks, Greek retsina wine or beers. The people are dancing to traditional Corfiot and Greek songs played by a live band.
During the summer season, the festival of pie is organized at the same place. The local women cook delicious pies for all of different tastes: pies with courgettes, potatoes, salted codfish etc. There are also grilled souvlakia for the meat lovers. Everybody enjoys the food and drinks, dancing with live music.
Every year, the local businesses of Kalami organize the Varcarola festival in Kalami. An old Corfiot event, where the boats, decorated with lights, sail along Kalami bay as the choirs of the Municipality sing traditional Corfiot songs called cantades.
