Great to see Wicklow Golf Club feature in an episode of RTÉ One's hit series Striking Out. The stunning coastal views surrounding the course looked great on television! Our members might even recognise a few familiar faces in the background!
Ireland - Wicklow Golf Club
Wicklow Golf Club was founded in 1904 and is an 18-hole parkland golf course hewn from the wild coastline of Wicklow. As you play, enjoy the spectacular views of the Wicklow Mountains and the magnificent coastline from the old Wicklow Head Lighthouse to the South as far as Bray Head to the North and on a clear day right across the Irish Sea to the tip of Snowdon in Wales.
A unique feature is the drive from the championship tee on the 6th. The Nose is situated on a promontory in the Irish Sea and provides a formidable drive with a 200 yard carry to the distant fairway - not for the fainthearted.
The 17th hole which is the signature hole is played from an elevated tee into the neck of the Glen Valley with water hazards in front and with the other three sides bounded by shrubbery and rough. The course has been described as one of our great coastal challenges.
Situated on the southern end of Wicklow town, the club is only 30 minutes from Dublin.
