Wide Bay Hospitals Museum

Did you know Australia's first and only recorded outbreak of Pneumonic Plague occurred in Maryborough in 1905? The Wide Bay Hospitals Museum is the place to visit if you want to learn more about nurses Bauer and Wiles who willingly sacrificed their own lives to stop an outbreak.

The museum has a fantastic display of Maryborough Hospital history, including early records of births and deaths, surgical instruments and apparatus, 19th century nursing books and more.

Located in a heritage listed building on the hospital grounds, the museum is open every Thursday 9am to 12pm with a gold coin donation.
