Austin Cemeteries - Part 1 The Final Frontier
The Austin Cemetery was erected in 1863 when the silver boom town of Clifton and Austin grew in the thousands. This graveyard is divided into five sections that includes the Masonic, I.O.O.F., Catholic Calvary, Citizens and American Indian. Many of the interments found here were of Irish origin and were miners who braved this vast frontier deep in the heart of the Toiyabe Mountain Range of Nevada. Touring this cemetery tells a more in depth story about the people who lived here. Many of them died young due to accidents, epidemics such as diphtheria and even travesties such as flash floods in Pony Canyon. Some say this is one of the finest wild western cemeteries as many of the graves are masterpieces and fine pieces of craftsmanship. Between the dramatic views of the Reese River Valley expanse and Austin afar one can see why this burial ground on the hill is an ideal location to explore its history. Many of the pioneers buried here faced many trials and tribulations. Some led lives of great success while for others Austin was there final frontier!!

TEN MAJOR MOTORCYCLE EVENTS IN THE UNITED STATES
Motorcycle rallies and runs are becoming increasingly popular across the United States. Whether you are a newbie or a seasoned rider, there are a few motorcycle events in the United States you won't want to miss. These rides encompass the very heart and soul of the motorcycling community and should be on every rider's bucket list. Here are 10 major motorcycle events in the United States.
1. Sturgis Motorcycle Rally This world famous event can draw over 650 000 motorcycle enthusiasts annually to the Black Hills of South Dakota. Every August, the local streets become parking lots as the masses descend on the small town of Sturgis and the party begins. Whether you go to enjoy the scenic rides or hang around the campgrounds for music, beer and contests, this event should be on every biker’s bucket list. The Sturgis Buffalo Chip is tops in our books for entertainment, camping and all around fun during the rally plus the town of Deadwood and Main Street Sturgis.
2. Daytona Bike Week Ten days of motorcycle racing, concerts, parties and street festivals draws 500,000 people to Daytona Beach, Florida every year in March.
3. Rolling Thunder The annual Ride for Freedom is hosted by Rolling Thunder®, Inc, an advocacy group dedicated to increasing awareness of American POW/MIA issues. The Memorial Day weekend event brings hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists and supporters to the D.C. area. This event is considered more a demonstration then rally and well worth it. Rolling Thunder®, Inc works non-stop helping out Veterans past and present.
4. Bikes, Blues and BBQ Billed as the “Largest U.S. Charity Rally”, BBB, as it has been dubbed, entices approximately 400,000 motorcycle enthusiasts to Fayetteville, Arkansas during the last weekend of September.
5. Love Ride Rooted in Glendale, California, the charity motorcycle event will celebrate its 30th anniversary this October. The 40-mile ride will once again benefit the USO and Jay Leno will return as Grand Marshall.
6. Laconia Motorcycle Week Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire is the location for one of the largest and oldest motorcycle rallies in the country. This June marked the 90th anniversary of the week-long festival.
7. Indiana Boogie Hosted by ABATE of Indiana, this is the biker party of parties- four days of bands, beer and bikes from July 18-21. Indiana Boogie events include an arm wrestling tournament, a motorcycle rodeo and a scenic ride.
8. Laughlin River Run Nevada hosts this 5-day event in April, filled with tons of concerts, vendors and gambling. See Historic Route 66 the way it was meant to be seen by attending this year's Laughlin River Run.
9. Myrtle Beach Bike Week There are over 80 miles of beautiful coastal riding at “the Carolina’s Largest Motorcycle Event”. Held annually in May, this event boasts attendance of 300,000.
10. Redwood Run Plenty of on-site camping with bathrooms and showers make this a truly classic old school motorcycle rally. Enjoy scenic rides if you want, or park your bike for the weekend and enjoy the continuous live music, games and contests and endless food, beer and cocktails.

Austin, Texas Fourth of July Town Lake Extravaganza 2015!!!!
Here is the FINALE (the last sixty seconds) from last weeks's Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza Town Lake 2015!!! I had to shoot this lying flat on my back (all Citizen Kane style) and balanced the phone on my chest whilst trying to manage the auto focus. I have never been so close to a fireworks display in my entire life! There were plenty of harrowing and adrenaline-triggering moments at its peak...this footage really, really belies the enormity of it. I was worried that all of that gun powder and fire would suddenly bond together and engulf us all. You now all have post traumatic stress disorder! Thanks for coming out!

Spanish Mustang - Video Learning - WizScience.com
The Spanish Mustang is a horse breed descended from horses introduced from Spain during the early conquest of the Americas. They are a type that today is extremely rare in Spain. They are classified within the larger grouping of the Colonial Spanish horse.
Spanish Mustangs today are primarily domesticated horses but are sometimes confused with the feral American Mustang. The latter animals are descended from both Spanish horses and other feral horses escaped from various sources; they run wild in protected Herd Management Areas of the western United States, currently managed by the Bureau of Land Management , and to a lesser degree, in Canada. DNA studies indicate that Spanish breeding and type does still exist in some feral Mustang herds, including those on the Cerbat HMA , Pryor Mountain HMA , Sulphur HMA , Kiger HMA and the Riddle Mountain HMA . The true Spanish Mustang as a modern breed differs from the wild American Mustang in appearance and ancestry.
In the late 19th and early 20th century, many ranchers introduced Thoroughbreds, draft horses, Arabians, Morgans and other breeds into most feral herds, seeking to improve the type. However, the breed was saved from extinction by the efforts of preservation breeders and the creation of a registry to protect and preserve the original type.
The Colonial Spanish Horse developed from animals of various breeds and types first brought from the Iberian peninsula to the Caribbean within the first 30 years of Conquest of the New World. The Spanish Mustang is a descendant of the Spanish horses brought from Cuba, Hispanola, and other islands during the conquest and establishment of the Spanish colony of New Spain in what today is Mexico. They are a direct remnant of the horses of a type that is mostly or wholly extinct now in Spain
As the conquest of Mexico progressed during the 16th century, horse herds spread north and crossed the Rio Grande. Over the next one hundred years, horses in the Americas were stolen and traded by the Apache, Comanche, and later the Utes and Shoshoni to various tribes across the Great Plains and Rocky Mountains. Lewis and Clark received horses, later claimed to be Spanish Mustangs, from the Shoshoni, and said they owed much of the success of their expedition to the horses.

2020 Buick Encore GX
The new Encore GX grows Buick’s SUV portfolio, as the brand strengthens its focus on beautiful, premium SUVs. The Encore GX offers safety technologies, driver assistance and convenience features, functionality and style tailored around the size and space preferences of today’s small and compact SUV buyers.
“Premium SUV buyers are looking for features that fit their lifestyle priorities, and Buick is giving customers more segment choices with our new Encore GX,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president, Global Buick and GMC. “As we look to the future of Buick, and customer demand trends, our four-SUV portfolio puts us in a strong competitive position across the most popular SUV segments.”
More safety and connectivity features
The Encore GX will offer a suite of standard and available safety and driver assistance technologies and features that are typically offered in larger, more expensive vehicles. These six safety technologies* will be standard on all trim levels:
Forward Collision Alert
Automatic Emergency Braking
Front Pedestrian Braking
Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
Following Distance Indicator
IntelliBeam headlamps with automatically-adjusting high/low beams
Some of the available safety and driver assistance technologies and features for the Encore GX will include:
Rear Park Assist*
Rear Cross Traffic Alert*
Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert*
Rear Camera Mirror*, provides a wide, less obstructed rear view while parking and driving
Hands-Free Power Liftgate with logo projection, one of only two vehicles within the compact SUV segment to offer this feature
Adaptive Cruise Control – Camera* (camera-based)
Head-Up Display
Automatic Parking Assist with Braking*
High Definition Surround Vision* camera system
The Encore GX will have the latest in infotainment and connectivity, such as Apple CarPlay1, Android Auto2, available wireless charging3 and Bluetooth pairing4, which will allow up to two phones to be paired at the same time. The Encore GX will also support SiriusXM’s next generation audio entertainment platform, SiriusXM with 360L5, which combines satellite and streaming to deliver more channels, plus access to both live and on demand shows and musical performances. This gives drivers and their passengers more control over what they listen to and when and improves listeners’ ability to discover more great content across SiriusXM.
Style and functionality
Aldred added, “Filling the spot between the smaller Encore and the larger Envision and Enclave models, the Encore GX is another proof point that Buick is The Premium SUV Brand. Just as we did with the Enclave in 2008 and the Encore in 2013, we identified a growing market niche and moved quickly to introduce a new vehicle to fill it.”
The Encore GX has a confident stance with a wide, modern grille and 18-inch aluminum wheels. Buyers can also enhance the look with the optional Sport Touring package. The Encore GX ST will have exclusive wheels, body-color surrounds and a distinctive black mesh grille with red accents connected through both the front and rear bumpers.
Inside, the Encore GX embodies the quality cabin experience that Buick customers expect, including the brand’s signature QuietTuning, which helps to minimize road noise inside the vehicle, as well as premium materials and available features, like leather-appointed seats, a heated steering wheel and an ionizing air filter.
The functional interior is designed to help you easily carry both passengers and cargo, with 94.3 cubic feet for passengers and 25.3 cubic feet for cargo6 behind the second row. The Encore GX will have a standard, adjustable two-stage load floor, giving owners the flexibility for either more under-floor storage or a cargo floor that is level with the folded seats, depending on their specific needs.
For even more flexibility, the Encore GX’s front passenger seat folds flat and the 40/60 folding second row is optimized with the narrower section behind the driver’s seat to better accommodate an 8-foot long object diagonally from the passenger seat to the rear driver’s side.
Performance
The Encore GX will come with either a standard 1.2L turbo or premium 1.3L turbo engine, and will deliver up to 155 horsepower, 174 ft-lbs. of torque and offer a GM-estimated 31 mpg combined (based on GM testing. Official EPA estimates not yet available).
In the front-wheel drive models, both engines will come with a standard Continuously Variable Transmission that helps maintain peak performance for responsive acceleration and the power to pass and merge into fast-moving traffic.
For all-wheel drive models, the 1.3L will be paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The AWD models will also have a disable switch, giving drivers the choice between AWD, when more traction is needed, or FWD, for improved fuel-economy when conditions allow.
