Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre (UWEC)
Uganda wildlife education center was established in 1952 as the Uganda zoo also known as Entebbe Zoo, and the primary purpose of the zoo was to accommodate the injured, sick, orphaned and rescued animals from poachers and other phenomena. It is located at the shores of Lake Victoria, which is the largest fresh water lake in Africa. In the early 1960s, it was converted to the traditional zoo.
Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre (UWEC) Trust was founded in 1994 to convert the traditional system of zoo from bring an attraction center to use it for Conservation Education purpose.
It surprisingly houses a wide range of wild animals (around 400), plants (around 500), and verities of bird(around 250), many reptiles, various butterflies and other indigenous animals which makes it an attractive venue for imparting education as well as providing a pleasing experience for those who loves wildlife.

THE KILLER CROCODILES OF LAKE VICTORIA
The fisher-folk of East Africa's largest fresh water lake, Lake Victoria are now becoming prey in the same waters they draw fish from. Crocodile attacks have increasingly made fishing a life threatening activity. More than 15 people have been killed by crocodiles in Lake Victoria since 2013. It is believed that the human-wildlife conflict is caused by increased activity in Lake Victoria which includes overfishing and sand harvesting. Africa Uncensored's Dennis Mbae was in the lakeside city of Kisumu in Western Kenya, to count the human and environmental cost on the shores of this Lake.

Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda
Murchison Falls National Park is the jewel of all of Ugandas game parks. It is located along the Western Rift Valley in the northwest of Uganda. The park is 3877 sq km and contains 76 mammal species and 450 bird species. There are many vegetation zones including savannah, riveriene forest, and woodland forest. The key feature of the park is Murchison Falls where the Victoria Nile funnels down a 6 m wide gorge dropping 40 m at 6 million cubic meters per second making it the most dramatic thing ever to happen to the Nile on its 6700 km long journey to the Mediterranean.
The highest density of wildlife is found in the delta that is bound by the Victoria Nile, Lake Albert, and the Albert Nile. This is one of the best places to track the chimpanzees.

Giraffes: Preventing extinction in Africa with Chester Zoo
This is a huge conservation victory for Rothschild’s giraffes in Kidepo Valley National Park and there is certainly room for optimism in the areas where we’re working.
Zoo experts, alongside The Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF) and the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), have been working to protect one of the last remaining populations of wild Rothschild’s giraffes in Kidepo Valley National Park.
In 1995 it was believed as few as just three giraffes remained in Kidepo Valley. However, in 1997, three more were translocated to the park from Kenya in an effort to boost numbers. Now, with 12 calves born in the last year, at least 60 giraffes are now known to live in the protected reserve.
Teams from the zoo regularly head out to Uganda to assist with the ongoing, monumental efforts to help prevent the extinction of the Rothschild’s giraffe. So, there is certainly room for optimism in the areas where we work. Recent evidence now suggests that numbers are slowly increasing these areas, which is fantastic news. It’s a conservation success story that we’re very proud to be a part of.
However, the majority of giraffe populations across Africa still face threats such as habitat loss and poaching which continue to push them towards a silent extinction.
We will continue to to fight for these gentle giants ????
