Spectacular Lion Chase around our Safari Vehicle
This was a spectacular Lion chase, taken on safari with Private Kruger Safaris by one of our guests in Kruger National Park. The Lions missed this one but it looked like an experienced couple of old Kudu Bulls and you don't get old in the African bush if you don't outmaneuver the Lions. This scene played out close to the Highwater Bridge on the Skukuza to Lower Sabie Road next to the Sabie River.

OOTY JUNGLE RESORT
live life, naturally!
Vanakkam! This is how we welcome guests when they visit our home. The Jungle village resort is your home and our team would like to greet you in the traditional manner!
Step into our world… off-trail, unspoilt, luxurious, and in sync with nature…. where days slip away like birds in flight…
A lush space, a refuge for the senses where the land is nurtured and life-affirming moments happen all the time…
The resort is a tribute to the ancient clan that co-existed happily with nature in this hot spot of great bio-diversity.
When you arrive at the thatched open-sided reception, warm hues, genuine smiles greet you … The resort, wrapped in a haze of green, sprawls earthy and natural… meandering pathways lead you to our tribal-style cottages and suites… all crafted with natural materials, with creature comforts in place.
Inhale the heady aroma of nutmeg, pepper and cloves… the resort has been built artfully in a 10-acre former spice plantation, sculpted into a hill… without felling a single tree! Jacaranda, rosewood, jackwood trees rise tall and sinewy like tibal warriors… pepper vines wrap themselves around the thick trunks…
Our guests too will live like the tribals, feel the pulse of the earth, live in harmony with its cyclical rhythms; wake up to the call of the whistling thrush; the gurgle of streams, the splash of waterfalls, the rustling of the wind in the trees, tall as totem poles…
Vanakkam, once again!

Live video of Snake rescue from a forest well-1.(Sunday 5-6-2011)IMGP3396.AVI
In the previous video this snake was in the process of being eaten by a Bull-Frog in this well. Here a actual rescue operation of removing the snake from the well is demonstrated by B.N.H.S Ornithologist/author/trekker guide Mr Nikhil.Bhopale with a littele help from co- guide trekker Mr Vandan.Zaveri and local guide Mr Nandu. Tambe. This well is situated in the forested Sahyadri mountain region of Shiroli in konkan district of Ratnagiri .This particular Sahyadri forested area has a small wild-life population of birds, mammals and reptiles , including leopards. As for us ,B.N.H.S Konkan Bounty tour group members, it was a case of being at the right time at the right place to witness this fascinating wild-life encounter and rescue operation , something, which even professional naturalists and photographers take years to witness or photograph. :- Seafarer/Blogger/Backpacker Rudolph.A.Furtado.
Horse Riding Safari in Western Ghat, Maharashtra, India
About Horseback Safari / Trail riding conducted by 'Digvijay Horse Riding Safari':
This is one of the most thrilling forms of adventure sports and is basically an outdoor activity conducted on horseback over off-road tracks which include open grounds, lush meadows, hilly terrains, hill-tops, hill-slopes, forests and over water streams / rivulets etc. These are ideally performed in gaits such as walk, trot and canter. This kind of a sport should ideally be performed on the Indigenous Indian breeds of horses such as the 'Kathiawari' and or 'Marwari', as their endurance and fitness levels are very high as compared to the 'Thorough Breeds' which are ideal for Horseback racing. Horseback Safari's / Trails are also organised for beginner level riders. Age groups ranging from 7 years and above can participate in this sport.

Bandipur tiger reserve: The beauty & the beast
This week our special episode focuses on Bandipur National Park in Karnataka. Bandipur which part of the Nilgiri Biosphere reserve is part of the belt that has the highest density of tigers in India. The NDTV team was fortunate enough to spot the majestic beast in all its glory. The forests of Bandipur is known for its beautiful landscape used to be a hunting ground of the Maharaja's of Mysore in the past. The tiger reserve in Bandipur was declared a tiger reserve as part of project tiger in 1973. With a variety of flora and fauna these jungles are home to our national animal and its protectors the Special Tiger Protection Force or STPF of Bandipur whom we interact with as they look for snares to prevent poachers from hunting game within the park. The STPF is not equipped well at the moment, although through the Aircel-NDTV Save our tigers campaign the forest department of Bandipur and Nagarhole did receive two rapid response units. We also focus on funding and how corporates like Aircel play a major role in helping forest departments. Man-Animal conflict also is a predominant issue in this park and we look at measures being initiated to combat such issues.

Group of Hanuman langurs in a dry forest of Southern India
Herd of Hanuman langurs inside dry forest of Bandipur National Park, Karnataka, India.
Gray langurs or Hanuman langurs, the most widespread langurs of South Asia, are a group of Old World monkeys constituting the entirety of the genus Semnopithecus. All taxa have traditionally been placed in the single species Semnopithecus entellus. In 2001, it was recommended that several distinctive former subspecies should be given full species status, so that seven species are recognized. A taxonomic classification with fewer species has also been proposed. Genetic evidence suggests that the Nilgiri langur and purple-faced langur, which usually are placed in the genus Trachypithecus, actually belong in Semnopithecus.
Gray langurs are large and fairly terrestrial, inhabiting forest, open lightly wooded habitats, and urban areas on the Indian subcontinent. Most species are found at low to moderate altitudes, but the Nepal gray langur and Kashmir gray langur occur up to 4,000 metres (13,000 ft) in the Himalayas.]
Hanuman refers to the Hindu deity Hanuman.
Bandipur National Park, established in 1974 as a tiger reserve under Project Tiger, is a national park located in the south Indian state of Karnataka. It was once a private hunting reserve for the Maharaja of the Kingdom of Mysore. Bandipur is known for its wildlife and has many types of biomes, but dry deciduous forest is dominant.
The park spans an area of 874 square kilometers (337 sq mi), protecting several species of India's endangered wildlife. Together with the adjoining Nagarhole National Park (643 km2 (248 sq mi)), Mudumalai National Park (320 km2 (120 sq mi)) and Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary (344 km2 (133 sq mi)), it is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve totaling 2,183 km2 (843 sq mi) making it the largest protected area in southern India.
Bandipur is located in Gundlupet taluq of Chamarajanagar district. It is about 80 kilometers (50 mi) from the city of Mysore on the route to a major tourist destination of Ooty. As a result, Bandipur sees a lot of tourist traffic and there are a lot of wildlife fatalities caused by speeding vehicles that are reported each year. There is a ban on traffic from the hours of dusk to dawn to help bring down deaths of wildlife.

Travel Sahara Desert, North Africa - Tour of Life in The Sahara Desert
Take a tour of Life in the Sahara Desert in Morocco -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
Almost as large as Europe, it is the world's largest desert except for Antarctica.
Although the Sahara is mostly inhospitable, desert plants and animals have managed to survive here.
Among those animals are humans, roughly 4 million of them, who dwell in the sands.
Many of these people have adopted special ways of living to survive the desert climate.
A good number are nomadic and follow the scarce resources of food and water.
Some permanent civilizations, notably the Egyptians, have managed to make the Sahara their home.
For many, there is a rugged beauty to the desert that must be recognized and respected.
For example, the awesome Saharan dunes can look like waves in an ocean of sand.

Kalahari Bushmen | African Tribes
▶ SUBSCRIBE! Full Documentaries every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday!
The bushmen once ranged over the entire continent, but they were displaced by Bantus pushing south. They took refuge in the Kalahari and namib deserts long before the arrival of the Europeans. Those who did not reach safety in the desert were exterminated or enslaved by the Bantus and the white people. It’s not surprising that the majority have alcohol problems.
Luckily there are still some families holding onto their culture and traditions… including their hunting methods.
Their most powerful weapon comes from under ground. Using metal bars they dig holes looking for the round objects that they’ll use to prepare a powerful poison. Back at camp, the men prepare to make the poison mixture. Then they chew the roots of the poisonous sansevieria plant and mix the resulting paste with the insides of the larvae and the seed powder, producing a liquid powerful enough to kill anything. All that's left is to apply the poison to some arrows.
With the performance of the appropriate ritual, the spirits will show the way to find game. This is considered necessary in order to bring good luck and keep bad spirits away.
The hunt has begun.
They have hit a male oryx. If the arrow has hit a sensitive area, such as the neck or the lungs, the oryx will fall down dead in a matter of hours, but if not, the slow chase can go on for several days. The arrow punctured the oryx's left lung, resulting in a slow, painful death. The Bushmen are, in fact, extremely respectful of their natural environment, as many anthropologists have pointed out. This meat will provide enough food for a couple of weeks. They preserve it by smoking, and it belongs to the community as a whole.
