Narvik Guide 2019 - Winter Cruise
#Narvik was founded in 1902 for one specific reason, the bay never freezes over because it is in a gulf stream. This allows iron ore from Sweden to be shipped anywhere. The Railway line (Ofoten Railway excursion on separate film) was also built for the same purpose and seamlessly takes you over the EU border from #Norway and into a Swedish ski resort. You are then coached back over the same EU border - no passport, no stopping and the Norwegian guides explaining they do the trip each weekend to shop for food and wine. Narvik itself sits in outstandingly beautiful Norwegian Fjords surrounded by gargantuan mountains, and countryside and thriving arctic wildlife and deer.
From the shuttle stop, you can cross the road as the film shows, and get the number 1 bus to the very ski lift up the Fagernesfjellet mountain that will give you the great views from the 670-metre peak. It is here we first saw the Northern Lights, which are on our 'Aurora snowed in' film on this channel because as we left the warm harbour, we were dumped on by snow.
The film shows the Museum Nord, a brick building erected in 1902. Inside and gives insight into the town's brief but intriguing history featuring the importance of iron.

Arctic Snorkeling & Adventures - Lofoten & Kiruna
If you haven't subscribed yet - do that now! ;)
In this video I've summed up the best clips from our snorkeling adventure in Lofoten and North of Sweden (Kiruna). We stayed in the arctic for 8 days and visited many amazing places.
First we hiked 5km to Rissajaure (a.k.a. Trollsjön), the clearest lake in Sweden with crystal clear and cold water.
Next stop was Å and the lake Ågvatnet. High mountain tops surrounds the lake and it's really quiet and beautiful. In the sea nearby, there was plenty of fish, kelp and other sea creatures.
Then we went to Kvalvika Beach. A 2 km hike took us to the hidden but popular sandy beach, with clear water and mountains on both sides. One of the coolest places during our adventure.
In Ballstad we went out on a snorkeling tour with Lofoten Diving ( An awesome experience and really beautiful water. This is perfect if you don't have your own wetsuit or gear, since you can rent everything from them. Highly recommended!
Later we went to Henningsvær, a really cool village situated on smaller islands. Check out drone footages to see why it's so awesome.
Unstad was our next stop! A small surfer village. There were almost no waves when we arrived , but we rented stand up paddle boards (SUP) from Unstad Artic Surf ( and paddled out on the crystal clear water and did some snorkeling on the same spot afterwards!
Last but not least, we went back to Sweden and Abisko national park. There is a river that runs though the national park and on some spots the water is calmer and you can dive there. Plenty of fish and strong currents. If you go here, make sure that you are experienced and have the right gear. It could be very dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.
If you enjoyed this video, please share it with your friends! Let me know if you wonder about anything, I'll answer you gladly! :)

Walking holiday in the Lofoten Islands with KE Adventure Travel
North of the Arctic Circle, floating out into the Norwegian sea, lies the Lofoten Islands archipelago; ( )for this one week guided walking holiday we’ve picked out the best walks on these wild and untamed islands, from the most beautiful beaches to the peaks with the most iconic views.
The Lofoten Islands offer up a true ‘fairy tale’ landscape of dramatic mountains, soaring ridge lines and rocky outcrops covered in boisterous colonies of sea birds to calm sheltered bays, deep glacier cut fjords, long silver-sanded beaches and tiny fishing villages dotted with colourful fisherman’s ‘Rorbu'; and all bathed in the magnificent arctic light of the midnight sun.
During our week we will walk on four different islands, beginning with Moskenesoya at the southern tip of the archipelago and working our way north across the islands of Flakstadoya and Vestvagoya, before ending in the working fishing village of Henningsvaer on the island of Austvagoya, where we will find a postcard perfect mix of colourful Rorbu, fishing boats and wooden racks of drying stockfish; a great place to end our journey.

Swedish Lapland: Kiruna, Abisco National Park, Narvik & Ice Hotel
It is perhaps true that there are some moments in life that one remembers more than others. This is particularly true with my trip to the Swedish Lapland. Something you experience once in a lifetime and that leaves a memorable impression. Watch the video to experience with me the dog-sledging and snowmobile riding in Kiruna, hiking in Abisco National Park, looking at the Ice-Hotel being constructed, and travelling along the Norwegian Fjords towards the beautiful city of Narvik.

Scandinavia - Living In The Wild 2018
Last year my cousin and I went on a roadtrip to Scandinavia with my 1982 Volkswagen T3 Caper Van, but after just a few days the gear box of the van broke and we needed to end the trip earlier than expected. This spring we decided to give it another shot and drove almost 8000 km through Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
The trip started in the south of Germany in the middle of April and our first stop was 2500 km later in Borlänge in Sweden. That's the place we got stranded last year. We met a nice family there who invited us once again into their beautiful home ;) Thanks family Brundin for your kindness and all your help!
The plan was to drive all the way to Abisko in Sweden and then cross the boarder to Narvik in Norway, where we wanted to drive back south. However, soon we realized that this is not going not happen. The further we drove north, the roads were covered more and more with snow. It was hard to find a solid spot in the wild to stay at night and almost all the side roads were covered with one and a half meter of snow.
Another challenge was the cold in the nights when the temperature dropped below zero and the water in the car froze. Also we had no heating system in the van, which made the nights even colder, but somehow we managed to survive ;) One day after we reached Ostersund we decided to stay in the south of Sweden and Norway.
We stayed a couple of days in the wild and then drove to Oslo in Norway, where we picked up our Friend Rodolfo, who joined us for a couple days.
The road trip was huge adventure and the places we saw were just breathtaking. The nature in Scandinavia is pure wilderness and enchanting.
All the footage in the video ist shot with either the DJI Mavic Air, a GoPro or the iPhone X with a DJI Osmo Mobile 2.
Have fun watching!

Return to Abisko: the Norwegian route
In Sep 2019, after six years and three previous visits of Sarek national park, Lapland, Sweden time has come to return more to the north, into the area of Nikkaluokta, Kebnekaise and Abisko national park.
Actually, we already did Nikkaluokta to Abisko crossing back in 2013, wandering mainly around Kungsleden on less trodden paths. The idea for this year was similar in terms of avoiding the popular and more-and-more packed Kungsleden, however we included tackling Kebnekaise among our ambitions and wanted to reach Abisko following the route more to the west, via Norway, opting for an alternative, more isolated and adventurous crossing.
We chose the third week of September instead of our usual second week due some time constraints – and were rewarded by the first fresh autumn snow since a period of cold weather arrived to the area shortly we set out on the trail from Nikkaluokta.
Retrospectively, it was a great autumn trip, and the unexpected fresh-snow conditions upgraded it to another level that possessed somewhat a challenge, especially in higher-altitude areas of snow-covered boulder fields.
Yet, colorful autumn moods were still prevailing, and the atmosphere of tundra and birch-woods landscape lit by low light, boosting autumn colors to the maximum, was truly fairy-tale and magical at times.

Joker Van goes North - Road trip to Scandinavia 2017
I bought a Volkswagen T3 camper van from 1982 and renovated it. The plan was to travel all the way to Narvik in Norway this spring . We (my cousin, my dog and I) started in south Germany and drove to Munich. Too sad the dog wasn’t very happy to travel in the old loud van and we needed to bring him back home to the fam. But after one day detour we were ready to hit the road.
We drove to the Baltic Sea and took the ferry to Denmark. Some days later we drove through Malmö in Sweden and further north, where we camped next to lake Vättern. The everyman’s right in Scandinavia made it possible to camp in the deep wilderness of Sweden. It was awesome and the pure adventure.
Some days later we had an unexpected twist. The gearbox of our camper van broke. We weren’t able to drive further north and the workshops were closed for three days because of easter holidays. We decided to camp somewhere close to a small lake until the workshops was open again.
My cousin drove and I failed with my navigation skills. Suddenly we we’re standing in somebody’s front yard between a house and some barns. It was a beautiful place next to a lake. The owner of the place invited us to stay a couple of days in this paradise until we figured out the problems with the van. The whole family was so nice and lovely. They even invited us into their home for family dinner and some real Swedish Fika. We stood there for about one week, did a lot of hiking and fishing. Too sad we didn’t catch any fish but it was an awesome experience on the lake with some food beer and a fishing pole every day.
We’re gonna fix the van and go to Scandinavia next year again. Thats for sure!
Thanks to Family Brundin and our friend at the VW workshop. You saved our road trip! See you next year.
