Phillip Island Wildlife Coast Cruises - Australian Fur Seal Capital
Come for a journey to the Australian Fur Seal Capital of the world, aboard Phillip Island Wildlife Coast Cruises at Cowes Phillip Island.
Cowes in Phillip Island is 90 minutes south of Melbourne, and is a tourist hotspot for wildlife spotting. Here you will find thousands of fairy penguins, Australian Fur Seals, and heaps of other wildlife.
This awesome cruise out to seal rocks off the southern coast of Victoria costs AU $80 per person, and takes about 4 hours round trip. It's a scenic cruise along the southern coastline of Phillip Island through Westernport Bay.
We went through the washing machine, a treacherous 1km stretch of water near the Nobbies in Phillip Island. But actually it wasn't so rough. Then we arrived at Seal Rocks, where we saw thousands of Australian Fur Seals.
The captain gave us an interesting commentary at Seal Rocks, where we learnt that Australian Fur Seals like to eat Squid, and they are not afraid of the large population of Great White Sharks.
Overall in interesting cruise which we thoroughly recommend if you are ever in Cowes, Phillip Island, Victoria.
