Still standing on the southern bank of Cooks River this house was a fashionable rendez-vous in the 1830s, a family home in the 1840s, a girls’ educational establishment in the 1860s and occupied by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan for over 100 years. Today, restored and unoccupied.

Tempe, Sydney, N.S.W. - A Brief History
In 1836 Alexander Brodie Spark, a merchant of early Sydney, built a rural retreat, on the southern bank of Cooks River which he called ‘Tempe’. The Sydney suburb was named after his house. Despite the many changes that have taken place Tempe retains much of its historic past.

Labor MP Anthony Albanese has picked up the nickname DJ Albo, on account of his mad skillz behind the decks at a couple of fundraisers. It's pretty much the best nickname any politician can hope for.
