Blackwater Falls, West Virginia - Video © Robert Zinn, Aerial View Specialists, LLC
Blackwater Falls State Park is located in the Allegheny Mountains of Tucker County, West Virginia, USA. The centerpiece of the Park is Blackwater Falls, a 62-foot (19 m) cascade where the Blackwater River leaves its leisurely course in Canaan Valley and enters rugged Blackwater Canyon. It is among the most photographed venues in the state and appears on calendars, stationery, advertisements of all kinds and, most famously, on jigsaw puzzles. The River is named for its tannic acid-darkened water.

Crockett became famous during his lifetime for larger-than-life exploits popularized by stage plays and almanacs. After his death, he continued to be credited with acts of mythical proportion. These led in the 20th century to television and movie portrayals, and he became one of the best-known American folk heroes.

The Life and Adventures of Nat Love by Nat Love | Audio book with subtitles
The Life and Adventures of Nat Love
Nat LOVE
Nat Love was born a slave, emancipated into abject poverty, grew up riding the range as a cowboy and spent his maturity riding the rails as a Pullman Porter. For me, the most amazing thing about him is that despite the circumstances of his life, which included being owned like a farm animal solely because of the color of his skin and spending later decades living and working as an equal with white coworkers, he was an unrepentant racist! Convinced that the only good Indian was a dead one, and that all Mexicans were greasers and/or bums, he rarely passed up a chance to shoot a member of either group, whether in self-defense or cold blood, and shows no sign of having appreciated the difference. At one point, he fell in love with a Mexican girl but, apparently unable to tolerate this reality, considered her Spanish. Nat Love was a fascinating character who lived in equally interesting times, and one only wishes his autobiography was much longer and more detailed. summary by ohsostrange

Hiking With Mountain Goats | Mt. Baker
Hello, lovely people. This hike (a 10 miler!) was rather exciting as we started with rain, wind, and cold, and ended in sunshine. Experienced a sunny whiteout at one point - is that a thing? Also got to see some mountain goats -- finally!! Hope you enjoy.
DISCLAIMER: Since this hike, I've realized the trail actually ends at Camp Kaiser right before the portals which we didn't make it to but were so close to. I didn't realize the trail continued on... I thought it had ended earlier. Thinking we might need to go back and actually finish this trail...
DISCLAIMER PT 2: I've had a few people comment on my safety of hiking alone. Rest assured, I actually hike alongside my husband! Though I have heard of and known a number of women who solo hike and are completely fine! We're very cautious though and don't push our limits. Thank you for your concern, you're the best xx
Until next time! x

Kentucky ( (listen) kən-TUK-ee), officially the Commonwealth of Kentucky, is a state located in the east south-central region of the United States. Although styled as the State of Kentucky in the law creating it, Kentucky is one of four U.S. states constituted as a commonwealth (the others being Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts). Originally a part of Virginia, in 1792 Kentucky became the 15th state to join the Union. Kentucky is the 37th most extensive and the 26th most populous of the 50 United States.
Kentucky is known as the Bluegrass State, a nickname based on the bluegrass found in many of its pastures due to the fertile soil. One of the major regions in Kentucky is the Bluegrass Region in central Kentucky, which houses two of its major cities, Louisville and Lexington. It is a land with diverse environments and abundant resources, including the world's longest cave system, Mammoth Cave National Park, the greatest length of navigable waterways and streams in the contiguous United States, and the two largest man-made lakes east of the Mississippi River.
Kentucky is also known for horse racing, bourbon distilleries, moonshine, coal, the My Old Kentucky Home historic national park, automobile manufacturing, tobacco, bluegrass music, college basketball, and Kentucky Fried Chicken.
