Wilson's Raid
Most of Alabama escaped the ravages of the Civil War until Union General James H. Wilson's raid in spring of 1865. Within weeks, Wilson captured prisoners, destroyed four major industrial centers and occupied the former Confederate capital. While most scholars regard the raid as a minor episode during the Confederacy’s final days, the Battle of Selma and the burning of the University of Alabama remain notable events in Alabama history.
Recently Discovered Civil War Battlefield in Cullman, AL
This site was actually the scene of a bloody battle. They had to bury their dead in trenches like these.
Since it was a Confederate stronghold, they were probably Confederate Soldiers buried in these trenches. Like most families, we had family in the war that fought on both sides.
Look at my ghost video to see the spirit energy that was found on this property. Many paranormal research teams have found irrefutable evidence here.
SmartlyPants found a picture of one of his relative's at the museum. He initially didn't want to tour the property. But after a gentle nudge he paid the nominal entrance fee of $5 a piece. But, the museum and grounds were so interesting, we paid him $20. That would also cover the two cokes he gave me and gave him a nice tip. He never asked or indicated that there would be a charge for the cokes. Plus, he spent 2.5 hours with just me & SmartyPants.
The tour didn't seem like it took that long because it is so interesting. If you are any where close to the Covered Bridge and to The Crooked Creek Civil War Museum, you simply need to go.

Decatur City Cemetery
The Decatur City Cemetery is a historic graveyard within the City of Decatur, Alabama. Located roughly in the NE ¼ of the NE ¼ of Section 13 of Township 5 South and Range 5 West. Technically, the newer addition to the cemetery is in the SW ¼ of the NW ¼ of Section 18 of Township 5 South and Range 4 West. For reference, on the USGS quad sheets the main part of the cemetery is on the Trinity map, and the newer part is on the Decatur map.
It is currently divided into seven (7) sections. Original, Brown, Cantwell, Cowan, Decatur Land Co., Humes and Sterrs. History The Banks Family Cemetery on Lafayette Streey NW was getting full in 1853. Calvin Brown asked Where are we going to put the dead? On a few acres of gently rolling hillside that year, Brown buried the first of two people in what would become Decatur City Cemetery.
Maria Ford's burial, on 2 July 1855, was the first to be recorded, although other burials preceded hers, as early as 1851.The cemetey now covers more that 41 acres, with some 35,000 graves. The Sterrs Addition is 7.9 acres. All the land was donated and the cemetery is, now, managed by the Decatur Parks and Recreation Department.
