Blue Mountains Walks: The Wind Eroded Cave Blackheath NSW Australia
PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!
This is a short walk from the Anvil Rock car park at Blackheath. It's only a few hundred metres to a spectacular rock outcrop of Triassic Narrabeen Group sandstone.
You can see features of sedimentation and chemical deposition within the rock. Just a short distance away is the edge of the Grose River gorge, so the place is of considerable geological interest.
You really need a copy of the publication Layers of Time to help you understand the geology here. You can buy one from the National Parks and Wildlife Heritage Centre at Govett's Leap, Blackheath or download one free from DIGS. How to do that is explained in one of my early New England Minerals blogs (see below for the link).

Wind Eroded Cave, Blackheath - Time-Lapse Walk
What to do in Blue Mountains | Wind Eroded Cave & Anvil Rock | Blue Mountains National Park
Located at the end of Hat Hill Road in the Grose Valley, this weathered sandstone rock formation offers magnificent views over the Grose Valley to Mount Banks and Mount Hay.
The Lookout gets it's name from an anvil that was placed on the lookout in 1940. A wind eroded cave is just 400 metres to the west. Dirt road access for two kilometres. It is a ten minute walk from the carpark and Hat Hill Road has approximately eight kilometres of dirt access - however the view is well worth it.

Blue Mountains Walks: Centennial Glen and Porter's Pass Blackheath NSW Australia
PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!
My body found this outing a bit tough but I'm glad to have done it. This video is one of a series in which I set out to show the various Blue Mountains walks a 71 year old can do. I'm now 73 and found this walk harder than I expected.
Route: Bundarra St into Centennial Glen, across Collier's Causeway to Porter's Pass. Return via Burton, Wombat and Station Streets to your starting point.
This is a walk that takes you down past a series of small waterfalls before passing beneath the sandstone cliffs for over a kilometre, coming up to the plateau again through another gorge.
It is a popular place for rock climbers, especially at the Centennial Glen end, and I passed several groups testing themselves against the rocky walls.
Allow 3-4 hours for this circuit walk.

Walls Cave Blackheath
I came accross this cool river crossing when bushwalking to walls cave at Blackheath on the weekend. The walk is not well signposted from the road so not many people walk the trail. The path was overgrown in some places and wet under foot but worth the effort. Path starts on Evans lookout road near Possums Hideaway and takes an hour. My waterproof Redback boots did a great job.
Blue Mountains Walks: Hat Hill Blackheath NSW Australia
PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!
Hat Hill near, about 5 km east of Blackheath, provides fantastic views of the Grose Valley and the mountains around it. On a clear day the inner parts of Sydney can be seen in the far distance, so plan your walk for a day like this.
This is a short, easy walk of less than 1 hour return.

Blue Mountains Walks: Evans Lookout Tracks Blackheath NSW Australia

Evans Lookout at Blackheath offers a tremendous view of the Grose Valley and most visitors are satisfied with that. However, there are three other tracks leading off from the parking area all of which have their own special features.
This video shows you some features of each.

Blue Mountains Walks: Fairfax Heritage Track, Blackheath NSW Australia
PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!
The Fairfax Heritage Track at Blackheath in Australia's Blue Mountains is ideal for strollers and wheelchairs. It has a paved surface and winds down through the bush from the National Parks headquarters to George Phillips lookout overlooking the Grose Valley. Govett's Leap lookout is only a short distance away and you can return to your starting point by another track which parallels the road.
Alternatively, one of your group can walk up (or down, depending on which way you are heading) and get the car for the others.

Blue Mountains Walks: Centennial Glen and Wall's Ledge Blackheath
PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!
I chose a very windy day for this walk, which takes you from the end of Centennial Glen Road in western Blackheath (off Shipley Rd) down into Centennial Glen. On the return I followed the Wall's Ledge track.
The round trip took approximately 2 hours and takes in great cliff views and several waterfalls.

Blue Mountains Walks: Cliff Top track, Evans Lookout Blackheath NSW Australia

This is a walk for those who like frequent, extensive views. I started from Evans Lookout and walked to Barrow Lookout before returning. I had previously done the Govett's Leap Lookout to Barrow Lookout section, but it wouldn't be difficult to do the full return trip.
There are numerous views across the Grose Valley. On the day I did this walk there were quite a few family groups, so it's a walk for all ages.

Blue Mountains Walks: Anvil Rock Blackheath NSW Australia - perhaps the best view in the mountains
PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!
This is a short walk to one of the best lookouts in the Blue Mountains. You stand atop an anvil shaped rock (with a real steel anvil fastened to it!) and look straight down into the Grose River gorge and across to Mt Banks. On a clear day you can see the tall buildings in the centre of Sydney. Not to be missed!
The approach is via Hat Hill Rd in Blackheath, the same route as for Perry's Lookdown. The road ends at a small picnic area close to the edge of the gorge.
