1) The History of Nelson
It is believed that Maori have been living in the area since about 1400. Nelson was the second city to be settled in New Zealand by Europeans, the city being established in 1841. Reminders of the early settlers remain in a few grand old houses today. Broadgreen was built in 1855, and on display in the house are colonial furniture and a collection of textiles and clothing of the pioneer era. Also on show is a fantastic rose garden.
2) The Nature & National Parks of the Nelson-Tasman Area
A 540-million-year-old fossil, the oldest ever found in New Zealand, was located in the Kahurangi National Park, a huge, park with large areas of trackless wilderness, while Nelson Lakes National Park is full of birdlife and activity. The Abel Tasman National Park is a relatively small park, with coastal views and beautiful scenery. Wander along beaches and over hills, and find fur seal colonies, and see penguins and dolphins off the coast as you go. Farewell Spit, the absolute top of the South Island, is a 30 km stretch of sand, that has been a bird sanctuary since the 1930s.
3) Places to visit in the city of Nelson
The Centre of New Zealand is right here in Nelson. Located in a walk from the Botanical Reserve, which incidentally, is where the first rugby game in New Zealand was played. If visiting gardens are your scene, there are a couple of highly recommended places you must see. The Miyazu Japanese Gardens are a celebration of the relationship with Nelson's sister city in Japan, a serene place that utilizes styles of Japanese gardening to create sought-after models in this collection.tranquility and beauty in horticulture.
4) Produce in the Nelson-Marlborough area
While the Marlborough region is very famous for wine, the Nelson-Tasman area also has some great boutique wines. A drive around the vineyards will also introduce you to other food tastings that are locally produced, such as chocolates, honeys and jams, chutneys, pesto, and processed meats. Wines to be found are usually Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay or Pinot Noir. Marlborough is a big Sauvignon Blanc producer, with some quality Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Reislings. Try stopping off at Havelock for some Greenshell Mussels.
5) Walking Nelson Plus
Nelson has to be the hiking capital of New Zealand with so many walks, scaled to all energetic levels. Short walks start at about 5 minutes, like the Pelorus Bridge Walk. The Motueka Waterfront Walk is suitable for wheelchairs, and will take about 90 minutes if the entire walk is done. The Abel Tasman Coastal Walk is 52 km of easy walking that will take between 3-5 days, and there are lots of choices in between these options.

Surviving the New Zealand wilderness with Miriam Lancewood

Miriam Lancewood has spent the better part of the last decade living deep in the New Zealand wilderness - hunting wild animals, foraging edible plants and living a nomadic lifestyle with her husband Peter. What started as a year-long adventure to see if they could survive off the land, soon turned into their new way of life - isolated, connected to nature and, most of all, happy. Without any technology - no mobile phone, GPS or even watch - they were able to find a true sense of freedom moving through the dense bush and rugged mountain ranges of the region.Miriam is the hunter of the pair and Peter is the cook. Miriam first learned to hunt with a bow and arrow before using a rifle to hunt to feed themselves during the bitterly cold winters.Miriam is in Hong Kong for the Hong Kong International Literary Festival, November 1-11, 2019, to talk about her memoir Woman in the Wilderness and about her time in the wilds of New Zealand.

Online Tourist Guide : Where to go new zealand
The Abel Tasman Coast Track in Abel Tasman National Park is one of New Zealand's Great Walks. Winding along sparkling Tasman Bay, from Marahau to Separation Point, this scenic 51-kilometer hike lies in one of the sunniest regions of the South Island.
In the heart of the Southern Alps, New Zealand's highest peaks rise above the alpine landscapes of Aoraki National Park, also called Mount Cook National Park. More than 40 per cent of the park is covered in glaciers, and the country's tallest mountain Aoraki/Mount Cook and longest glacier, the Tasman Glacier, lie within its borders making this a top destination for mountaineering.
Blessed with two sparkling harbors, Auckland, the City of Sails, is New Zealand's largest city and the most populous Polynesian city in the world. Blond- and black-sand beaches, rainforest hiking trails, picturesque coves, islands, and volcanoes surround the city making it a perfect base for day trips and wilderness adventures.
A three-hour drive north of Auckland, the beautiful Bay of Islands is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the country. More than 144 islands dot the glittering bay making it a haven for sailing and yachting. Penguins, dolphins, whales, and marlin live in these fertile waters, and the region is a popular sport fishing spot.
Just across the Hauraki Gulf from Auckland, the rugged Coromandel Peninsula seems a world away from the city's hustle and bustle. Craggy mountains cloaked in native forest form a spine along the peninsula offering excellent opportunities for hiking and birding.
A World Heritage Site, Fiordland National Park protects some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. Glaciers sculpted this dramatic landscape carving the famous fjords of Milford, Dusky, and Doubtful Sounds
Among the most accessible glaciers in the world, Franz Josef and Fox glaciers are the main tourist attractions in spectacular Westland Tai Poutini National Park. Both of these rivers of ice flow from some of the highest peaks in the Southern Alps to near sea level where the gentle coastal climate makes it easy for visitors to explore them on foot.
Birders, wildlife enthusiasts, and seafood aficionados will love the charming coastal village of Kaikoura. Tucked between the Seaward Kaikoura Range and the Pacific Ocean, Kaikoura offers excellent coastal hikes and popular whale watching tours.
In the center of the North Island, a few kilometers from glittering Lake Taupo, New Zealand's largest lake, Tongariro National Park is a dual World Heritage Site due to its spectacular volcanic features and its importance to the Maori culture.
In the sunny region of Hawke's Bay, Napier is famous for its gourmet food and Art Deco architecture. After a powerful earthquake destroyed the town in 1931, it was rebuilt in the Spanish Mission style and Art Deco design for which Miami Beach is also famous.
Snuggled between the shores of shimmering Lake Wakatipu and the snowy peaks of the Remarkables, Queenstown is New Zealand's adventure capital and one of the country's top destinations for international visitors. Bungee jumping, jet boating, white-water rafting, paragliding, rock climbing, mountain biking, and downhill skiing are just some of the adrenaline-fueled sports on offer, and visitors can explore the stunning alpine scenery on the excellent network of hiking trails
On the tumultuous Pacific Ring of Fire, Rotorua is one of the most active geothermal regions in the world. This is a land where the earth speaks. Boiling mud pools, hissing geysers, volcanic craters, and steaming thermal springs betray the forces that birthed much of New Zealand's dramatic topography.
drone footage over amazing private beach in New Zealand
Turn HD ON ! 1440 or 1080
Heres a short clip from an aerial photography reel I've been working on based on the scenery around North Canterbury, in the beautiful South Island of New Zealand.
The beach itself is located off the cost of the Waipara Valley, which is a small budding wine region about 40 minutes north of Christchurch. The beach is accessed only by foot and is surrounded by farm lands with sheep and cows grazing the area. When the swell and winds are working it makes for one of the most scenic surf spots in the country !
The colour of the cliffs are so because of the high limestone make up of the mineral rich soils, hence why viticulturists find the area great for growing vines. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling are the by most the variety of choice in the Waipara Valley.
I hope you enjoy the snippet and i'll be posting a full length movie on my photography website which will be online in 2015

Hobart City Video Guide | Expedia
Hobart is located in Tasmania, Australia's southernmost state.
Originally an infamous penal colony, Hobart is a place where the old and new meet, right at the edge of a pristine wilderness.
The waterfront is where early settlers first stepped ashore, and today the docks make a perfect place to start your adventures. Visit Australia's oldest brewery, which is still in business today.
The Maritime Museum is a great place to gain an insight into just how important the ocean has always been to this remote place. Help set the rigging, trim the sails, and take a turn at the helm of the Lady Nelson.
A short stroll from the waterfront is Salamanca Market, a local institution for over 30 years.
Learn about the great southern wilderness and those who tried to conquer it at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. For artwork of a more controversial nature take a ride upriver to Mona - The museum of old and new art.
South east of Hobart is Australia's version of Alcatraz, the convict settlement of Port Arthur.
Don't leave the city without a trip to the top of Mount Wellington, where you can imagine Hobart as it was 200 years ago.
It's clear from the moment you arrive that this old city now beats with a young and creative heart.

Auburn Coach Wife Kristi Malzahn Agrees with Match & eHarmony: Men are Jerks
My advice is this: Settle! That's right. Don't worry about passion or intense connection. Don't nix a guy based on his annoying habit of yelling Bravo! in movie theaters. Overlook his halitosis or abysmal sense of aesthetics. Because if you want to have the infrastructure in place to have a family, settling is the way to go. Based on my observations, in fact, settling will probably make you happier in the long run, since many of those who marry with great expectations become more disillusioned with each passing year. (It's hard to maintain that level of zing when the conversation morphs into discussions about who's changing the diapers or balancing the checkbook.)
Obviously, I wasn't always an advocate of settling. In fact, it took not settling to make me realize that settling is the better option, and even though settling is a rampant phenomenon, talking about it in a positive light makes people profoundly uncomfortable. Whenever I make the case for settling, people look at me with creased brows of disapproval or frowns of disappointment, the way a child might look at an older sibling who just informed her that Jerry's Kids aren't going to walk, even if you send them money. It's not only politically incorrect to get behind settling, it's downright un-American. Our culture tells us to keep our eyes on the prize (while our mothers, who know better, tell us not to be so picky), and the theme of holding out for true love (whatever that is—look at the divorce rate) permeates our collective mentality.
Even situation comedies, starting in the 1970s with The Mary Tyler Moore Show and going all the way to Friends, feature endearing single women in the dating trenches, and there's supposed to be something romantic and even heroic about their search for true love. Of course, the crucial difference is that, whereas the earlier series begins after Mary has been jilted by her fiancé, the more modern-day Friends opens as Rachel Green leaves her nice-guy orthodontist fiancé at the altar simply because she isn't feeling it. But either way, in episode after episode, as both women continue to be unlucky in love, settling starts to look pretty darn appealing. Mary is supposed to be contentedly independent and fulfilled by her newsroom family, but in fact her life seems lonely. Are we to assume that at the end of the series, Mary, by then in her late 30s, found her soul mate after the lights in the newsroom went out and her work family was disbanded? If her experience was anything like mine or that of my single friends, it's unlikely.
And while Rachel and her supposed soul mate, Ross, finally get together (for the umpteenth time) in the finale of Friends, do we feel confident that she'll be happier with Ross than she would have been had she settled down with Barry, the orthodontist, 10 years earlier? She and Ross have passion but have never had long-term stability, and the fireworks she experiences with him but not with Barry might actually turn out to be a liability, given how many times their relationship has already gone up in flames. It's equally questionable whether Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw, who cheated on her kindhearted and generous boyfriend, Aidan, only to end up with the more exciting but self-absorbed Mr. Big, will be better off in the framework of marriage and family. (Some time after the breakup, when Carrie ran into Aidan on the street, he was carrying his infant in a Baby Björn. Can anyone imagine Mr. Big walking around with a Björn?)
