IS ROMANIA WORTH VISITING? | Timisoara, Sibiu & Bran
One country I really wanted to visit was Romania and even though I had researched it, I still didn't really know what to expect. I started my Romanian trip starting in Timisoara. I then went and explored the cutest wee medieval town of Sibiu. One place which has been high on my bucket list for some time was Bran castle also known as Dracula's Castle. We Drove on the Greatest Driving Road in the World | Transfagarasan in Romania
Welcome back to Romania everybody - this is our final episode here in this incredible country and we are going to be heading back to Bucharest on of the greatest roads in the world.

Our morning started nice and slow in Sibiu as we walked around the town at sunrise before jumping into the car and heading into the fast lane to drive through the Transfăgărășan - a paved mountain road crossing the southern section of the Carpathian Mountains of Romania.
After going on a hike, having some lunch and our last papanasi :( we continued back onto Bucharest.
The next day we headed out to a local winery to blend our own wines whilst tasting some Romanian reds and whites.

To end our final day in Romania we headed to the largest wellness centre in Europe - Therme Bath & Spa.

This is the trailer for Wines of Romania- Pure Experiences documentary film that will be released on September 26th 2018 on this channel.
Wines of Romania - Pure Experiences is a series of documentaries shot as a travelogue that follows Robert Marshall, an Englishman living in Romania, throughout his journey to discover Romanian wineries and their surrounding regions.
Robert is a wine specialist who wanted to learn more about Romanian grape varieties and so he travelled around the country, during weekends, to discover where these vines grow and learn more about their history. In this episode, Robert travels to the birthplace of the white grape variety - Fetească Regală.
Cycling around the countryside, Robert visits several places in central Romania and experiences the beautiful landscapes and an authentic culture, rich in history. He meets people passionate about their lives and work and they share with him their unique experiences and stories.
He smiles, laughs and even dances with them, tastes local wines, savours delicious home-cooked dishes and this hugely enjoyable experience is captured and documented for us.

Romania has beautiful mountains and landscapes, and road trips are a must in the summer. If you are looking for a 3-day road trip from Bucharest, Romania, then I recommend this route: Bucharest - Ramnicu Valcea (1st night)- Transalpina - Alba Iulia - Sibiu (2nd night) - Transfagarasan - Curtea de Arges - Bucharest.
Pro tips: Wake up early, and start driving early. Take care of the other drivers. HAVE FUN!

Does Sibiu in Romania worth a visit? | Travelling Romania
I've read that Sibiu is a great place to visit in Romania. Travelling to Transfagarasan and getting short on petrol I was forced to pass very close to it and decided to go take a look at this town in Transylvania myself.

Ro-Wine, eccellenza internazionale a Festival del vino a Bucarest
Roma, (askanews) - RO-Wine, The Wine Festival of Romania, giunge alla sua seconda edizione. Il 20 e il 21 maggio il Festival del vino di Romania, metterà insieme produttori e consumatori locali e internazionali, anche italiani, che potranno assaggiare, giudicare e presentare 350 vini, attentamente selezionati.
Il Festival, organizzato dalla sommelier Marinela V. Ardelean, e da Liviu e Mihai Popescu, si svolgerà a Bucarest nei locali di Fratelli Studios. L'ambasciatore d'eccezione sarà Helmuth Kocher, presidente e fondatore del Merano WineFestival.
La selezione dei vini presenti all'edizione 2017 di Ro-Wine è estremamente rigorosa e i partecipanti sono stati selezionati soltanto tramite inviti diretti. Si tratta di un momento storico importante per il settore, ha spiegato la sommelier Ardelean.
Credo che ci troviamo nel momento più interessante, perché c è una svolta nella qualità non solo dei vini ma anche dell atteggiamento dei produttori e dei consumatori. C è maggiore rispetto per quello che vuole dire il vino veramente. Se la Romania ha una grandissima storia dal punto di vista della produzione, per il consumo abbiamo tanto ancora da imparare e ispirarci dai paesi vicini. Abbiamo un futuro in questo paese dal punto di vista enogastronomico, molto importante e vale la pena investire in questa direzione.

This was the ultimate Romanian medieval BBQ meat feast. Huge thank you to Nassim ( and Cristian ( for setting up this incredible trip. #Romania #RomaniaFood #bbq
Meat Paradise in Romania at Ferma Dacilor ( - During my trip to Romania, we went to a place called Ferma Dacilor, one of the most unique and special meals and food experiences of my trip to Romania. The entire concept is straight farm to table, where nearly everything they serve, from the meat to the vegetables and seasoning, are grown, produced, and aged, on location at the farm.
Medieval BBQ Cooking - Not only is the food fresh and local, but they strive to cook things in the ancient way, they way their ancestors cooked - over fire, rustic, iron, and huge portions of Romanian food.
Along with the 110 KG pig they roasted whole, one of the highlights for me was trying Mangalica pig, a type of hairy pig that almost looks like a sheep. The fat is said to be quite healthy, with little to no cholesterol. The meat was fatty and delicious.
Huge thank you to Cornelo and his entire family for hosting us and for making our time at Ferma Dacilor so memorable. One of the best Romanian food experiences!

Why My Trip To Romania Was Somewhat ‘Tainted’

In this video I discuss how I met an Australian immigrant in a Bucharest hostel. I also talk about how the danger of smiling in Eastern Europe, meeting a hilariously negative city-tour guide in the city of Cluj-Napoca in Transylvania, and a 'Rirish' kid in the town of Sibiu whose version of Australian history was a little bit warped, to say the least.

Picked up the rental car from Cluj-Napoca, and loaded up the boys for a little road trip to Sighisora and stopping off for the evening in Brasov. We spent the day trying to check off items for our Romanian road trip, and ends with a little winter surprise.
