I'M ON A QUEST: For culture cuisine, and connection — in every country in the world. For over ten years I've been riding around the world alone on my motorcycle. I'm not going to stop until I've ridden through every country in the world.
WorldRider TV is my YouTube Channel that captures the raw essence of solo travel around the world on a motorcycle. Some videos are raw and rough while others are edited and produced. Everything is real and authentic. I'm not out to ride the roughest roads, climb the highest mountains, search for ghosts, or solve mysteries.
I am out to meet the beautiful people of this world, to try to understand their culture, and learn about their history. All along enjoying good food, drink, and laughs. We all share much more in common that we have differences. I'm blown away by the kindness of strangers and how many times I've been brought into the homes and families of people everywhere.
There are no strangers in this world, only friends I haven't met. SO I hope I meet you. Meanwhile, join me and subscribe to my YouTube Channel, follow me in the usual places like Instagram and Facebook.
================
It all started on July 4th—symbolic for freedom and independence in my home country, USA. I set off alone on my trusty BMW F650GS Dakar motorcycle to travel the world. I didn't know exactly where I'd go or how long it would take. After three years traveling through thirty-five countries and five continents, I returned home in California and wrote the book that documented that adventure in stories, photos, and recipes: FORKS: A QUEST FOR CULTURE, CUISINE, AND CONNECTION.
Then came a one-year cross country book tour in his legendary FORKS Van”, then a television show on THE COOKING CHANNEL, inspirational speaking gigs, and much more. All along I continue to ride the world months at a time, returning home to work and save for the next segment—always leaving my motorcycle in some garage somewhere around the world.

Interrail 2017 Eastern Europe: Train Budapest to Podgorica (Belgrade to Bar Railway)
Watch in HD!
Interrail 2017 Eastern Europe: Overnight Train from Budapest, Hungary to Belgrade, Serbia and the Belgrade-Bar Railway to Podgorica.
Music: Foxes in Fiction - Memory Pools.
Journey taken in May 2017.
Overnight train departing Budapest-Keleti at 10:30pm, arrives in Beograd Centar station at 6:30am.
Depart Beograd at 9:00am, by bus and train, and arrive at Podgorica station at 8:30pm the same day.
Total journey time from Budapest to Podgorica - 22 hours.
Stunning journey, although very long! The trains are very old and basic. There are conductors and toliets but no running water guaranteed and no shop so take all your food and water with you, as there is no opportunity to purchase any the entire journey (maybe in Belgrade city?).
We stayed in a four bed bunk room on the overnight train. It was dated but comfortable and all bedding/sheets were provided. We shared with two other travelers (strangers, although we shared a bottle of wine together and chatted before going to sleep). There was an Intrepid tour group in the carriage as well. The Hungarian/Serbian authorities woke us for passport checks about 4 times throughout the night, so we didn't get too good a sleep. There was also a lot of waiting and not moving while we crossed the border. The conductor took our Interrail passes at the beginning of the journey and they were returned by a different conductor the following morning before arriving in Belgrade. We were locked in the carriage - so there was no way to go to other carriages in the train and we were on the end. There was also a lock to our compartment, so we made sure to lock it and also secured our bags with locks to prevent any theft.
From Belgrade, we had to take a rail-replacement bus part of the journey. Buses were organised from the station. When on the train, it was quite crowded. We were in a 6 seat compartment shared with other passengers. The scenery was stunning throughout the entire journey - mountains, bridges, rivers and villages. We gained elevation over 1,000m and then descended to 40m to enter Podgorica. The train moves very slowly and has to stop for other trains coming the other way through the tunnel. I believe there is only one train a day. It took us 9 hours to our destination, but the total journey to Bar takes 11 hours.
Interrail 2017 Eastern Europe: Train from Budapest to Podgorica (Belgrade to Bar Railway)
The 296 mile Belgrade to Bar railway has 254 tunnels and 435 bridges and goes all the way from the Serbian capital to the Adriatic sea. Construction of the line started in the 1950's but only completed in 1976, and was opened by President Tito himself.

HI YOUTUBE! / Air Serbia (Operated by Etihad) / Belgrade to London / Economy Class / Airbus A320-232
Hi - its my first trip report! Hope you will enjoy it! I aim to upload a new video every week!
// Belgrade Nikola Tesla (BEG), Serbia to London Heathrow (LHR), United Kingdom //
I had just arrived in Belgrade (BEG) from Paris (CDG) just before mid-day and the small terminal was packed! I had a 4 hour connection before the flight to London (LHR) and needed a place to do some work and recharge batteries.
So, I ventured into the Air Serbia Premium Lounge. For EUR13 per hour, buffet meal and one glass of wine is included, accessible between 1PM and 3PM only. However, for Air Serbia passengers, for EUR18, the lounge is accessible any time of day with free-flow wine. The food was average but I liked the soup of the day: potato soup! The staff were really friendly and kind, too.
The small terminal is walkable within 30mins tops. I like how close the terminal is to the tarmac and the awesome airplane views. There is an awesome work area with multiple charge points at the end of the C gates just past the Air Serbia Premium Lounge. I have footage walking through the terminal which you may like to see in a future video. Let me know in comments!
The flight boarded from Gate C3 and the boarding area is proportionately small along with the terminal (who would have guessed lol). The flight was probably half-full so I really wonder how the terminal copes in the peak summer period. Have you travelled through BEG during summer? Share your experience!
On a 3-3 seating on Economy Class, it was just myself and another passenger on the other end in the A seat. The departure was delayed for 30mins due to congested airspace over Europe. There was no in-flight entertainment. Also the remote control and its console were both broken. The seat had adjustable headrests and average room for my lanky 5'10 frame. The windows need a little cleaning though! The crew were nice and chatty.
Crisps and water were given out to Economy passengers. I also ordered a beef sandwich and a can of Coca Cola Zero for EUR6. There is a package deal of the same price including a chocolate muffin or walnut cake but I missed that! In any case, the food was really average and somehow service a little slow...
The foggy day turned out to be a rather wonderful one later in the afternoon with blue skies and puffy clouds. The weather cleared up further as the day progressed and it was quite an awesome sunset landing into Heathrow!
