CHAMPAGNE DAY – Epernay, France Champagne Tour
YAY! It’s champagne day!
Today, we splurged on an all-day champagne tour with France Bubbles Tour. We used this same tour company for a champagne tour in Reims, France during our honeymoon. But, this time we are touring Epernay, France!
Throughout the day, we stopped at three different champagne houses to taste many of their champagnes, learn about their history and explore their facilities & vineyards.
We also had the chance to stop in Hautvillers, which is a small, but charming town near Epernay. The Hautvillers Abbey is where Dom Perignon spent the majority of his time and it’s his burial place.
We had so much fun on this tour and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great experience in Epernay or Reims.
Enjoy the video and we’ll see you in our next one as we keep GOING PLACES!

A taste of the Champagne region, France
From the bubbles of Bollinger to the towns of Reims and Epernay, this is the Champagne region of France. It's a region full on flavour and epicurean and historic explorations.
The Champagne region of France has a royal past - it is in Reims, just 45 minutes by train from Paris, that 33 French kings have been crowned. And with UNESCO world heritage status, centuries-old traditions, classical villages and towns, vines rolling over endless landscapes, and fascinating architecture, Champagne itself is a region to be celebrated.
Why You Should Travel to Champagne, France and Do a Wine Tour
You can travel to the Champagne region in France on a train from Paris as a simple day trip and do some amazing wine tours of the Champagne Houses if you get up early and get after it!
We recommend training into Epernay, the capital of the Champagne region of France, and tour the Monet House, as well as a few others if you have time.
It's an aggressive itinerary for a single day trip, but it's possible, and in this travel video, you'll see us make it happen. The location of Epernay is only a couple hours via train from Paris, so don't think it isn't possible.
If you have time, we'd stay a couple nights though, there are so many things to do in Champagne.

EPERNAY, FRANCE – Exploring the Capital of Champagne
During our honeymoon in 2015, we took a day trip from Paris to Reims, France for a champagne tour. We fell in love with this region and its tiny bubbles; so, we always said we’d come back to stay and play longer in the Champagne region of France.
Well, we finally made it back! Today, we explored the city of Epernay, France and took a stroll down memory lane, I mean, Champagne Avenue...
Throughout the day, we popped in a few famous champagne houses and tasted their champagnes. Along the way, we wandered through Epernay exploring the Champagne City.

Champagne tasting in the Champagne region
During a sunny weekend in august we went on a roadtrip to the Champagne region in France to taste different champagnes and learn about the grapes, production methods, brands, types etc... A very learning and delicious experience!
Champagne Tasting in Epernay France - Charles Mignon
Let's taste some champagne in Épernay, France! We'll take the SNCF train from Paris Gare de l'Est to Gare d'Épernay. The trip takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes and then we'll have a 20 minute walk to Champagne Charles Mignon. We tour the cellars and then do a blind taste test to see who can tell the difference between champagne Rosé and the non-Rosé brut champagne. We had a wonderful time!
Want to visit the cellars at Champagne Charles Mignon?

Taittinger Reims Champagne tour - Paris, France
Champagne Tour of Taittinger Cellars in Reims. The guide was not only beautiful but an eloquent orator and clearly answered questions. The champagne was wonderful. I tasted several. My favorite was the 2012 vintage bottle which I had the good fortune to bring home to Cusco. If you love champagne like I do I hope you get to experience this amazing and exquisite champagne from Taittinger in Reims, France

Best Wine Tour in Chateauneuf-du-Pape
Sophie Bergeron of Travel in Provence sure knows her wines. That's why a wine tour with Sophie in Chateauneuf-du-Pape is such an awarding experience. Not only do you taste some of the best wines of the Rhone Valley region, you learn about the wine, the geography and the culture. Especially for a wine lover like me who knows little about French wine production, the tour with Sophie of Travel in Provence was exceptional.
A Private Tour and Champagne Tasting at La Maison Pannier
We visit La Maison Pannier, a select champagne house with a labyrinth of medieval underground cellars, for a tour and a private tasting.
What is hotel barging?
Despite the growing popularity of cruising, especiallly on large river vessels, hotel barging is still a little known niche concept. Most hotel barges started life as cargo vessels but have since been painstakingly converted to offer luxury boutique accommodation for small groups of up to 20 passengers.
This is cruising, but in a very different style to ships plying the big rivers or oceans. The pace is slow, with a 6 day cruise covering maybe just 50 miles along a rural canal. Passengers can walk or bike the towpaths as their floating hotel glides gently along. Guests enjoy an intimate atmosphere, high levels of personal service and immersion into the culture, history and gastronomy of regions of Europe such as Burgundy, the Midi, or the Italian Veneto.
Every day there is an excursion, perhaps to a chateau, a vineyard for a wine tasting, or some other ‘off the beaten track’ location. About half of European Waterways’ bookings are for whole boat charters, ideal for families. Otherwise, clients book a cabin to join other like-minded people. A ‘slow boat’ European Waterways barge cruise offers the ultimate in experiential travel. A truly unique experience!
European Waterways offer luxury hotel barge cruises on the beautiful canals and rivers of Europe, such as through Burgundy, the Midi, Alsace, the Po Valley, Holland and the Scottish Highlands.
The exclusive collection of hotel barges accommodate up to 20 passengers who may charter a whole barge with family or friends, or join a small group of like-minded travellers on an individual cabin basis.
Each barge is fully crewed with a Captain, chef, hostesses, deck-hand and tour guide. The 6-night cruises include gourmet meals, fine wines, open bar, excursions and the use of facilities such as bicycles and spa pools.
