AUSTRALIA'S BEST BEACH | Wineglass Bay and Freycinet National Park (Tasmania Day 3)
It’s my last full day backpacking in Tasmania, so I hopped on a bus and went to one of Australia's best beaches: Wineglass Bay, located in stunning Freycinet National Park.

MORE FROM TASSIE
Ibrahim and I got up early in the morning to catch a bus that would take us all the way from Hobart north to the Freycinet National Park. Our plan was to go for a hike to the Wineglass Bay Lookout and then hopefully go for a swim in the crystal clear water.
Our first stop on the ride up was in the rural town of Orford to see Maria Island. The island was originally used as one of the largest prisons in Australia for British convicts during the early 19th century. Now, the island is well-known as an excellent spot for scuba diving and is a national park.
We also stopped to see some padimelons and feed them their breakfast. The adorable animals look like miniature kangaroos and were a small part of our day trip that I found pretty cool. After saying goodbye to the padimelons we got back on the bus, eventually reaching Coles Bay. Located right outside of Freycinet Park, we stopped in Coles Bay to have a quick lunch on the beach and fill our water bottles up before heading into the park.
During the walk in Freycinet, we stopped at the Coles Bay and Wineglass Bay lookouts. Here we got to see some incredibly scenic views that I’m going to remember for a long time. We also came across some wallabies and even had the chance to pet one (we were being pretty stereotypical tourists for the day).
From the Wineglass Bay lookout Ibrahim and I decided that we’d move on to Honeymoon Bay and go for a swim. The sea water was warm and crystal clear, making for a great way to cool off after hiking around all day in the hot sun. After our swim, we explored the park a little bit more before getting back onto the bus and returning to our hostel in Hobart for one last night.

Wineglass Bay & Freycinet National Park - Tour review
Wineglass Bay in Freycinet National Park is a popular day trip from Hobart.
We went on this tour -
One the way to the national park we were lucky enough to hand feed some rescue wallabies, although this option is not always available.
We chose to walk down to the beach at Wineglass Bay while the other members of the group went onto to Cape Tourville Lighthouse and Honeymoon Bay. We were able to finish the walk to the beach in time to visit Honeymoon Bay which is a small bay within Coles Bay.
The walk to the lookout at Wineglass Bay is a little strenuous and some sections of the path include stone steps so you need to be careful with your foot
WINEGLASS Bay Hike ~ Freycinet Peninsula, Tasmania
Today I got up super early to explore Wineglass Bay Lookout and then hiked through to Hazards Beach, before arriving back at the carpark just as the tourist busses rocked up. I also stopped for lunch at the Bangor Wine & Oyster Shed, where I ate some delicious oysters in a beautiful outdoor setting.
See the tranquil Tasmanian beach from the lookout and enjoy the beautiful scenery from my hike. The Freycinet Peninsula was one of the real highlights of my trip over!

Discover Things to do in Hobart Tasmania - City Travel Guide
Hobart is full of history and culture; it sits on the River Derwent and one of the most historic areas is Battery Point overlooking the water.
Start your trip off by visiting Salamanca Place, these old warehouses have been preserved and converted into craft shops, galleries, performing arts venues and cafes. Head there on a Saturday where the market boasts over 300 stalls.
Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery are great to stroll around on a cold afternoon, whilst there take a glimpse at Tasmania's oldest building -- the Commissariat, which was built in 1808.
Beer lovers will be in their element on the tour of the Cascade Brewery and after, soak this up at one of the many restaurants at Battery Point, Salamanca Place or Constitution Dock.

Australia - Tasmania - Hobart, Mount Wellington & Boat Trip
In the second video instalment from Tasmania we head up to the top of Mount Wellington, the views of Hobart and the surrounding area were absolutely breathtaking... as was the icy cold wind. After a visit to the Shot Tower at Taroona we headed back to have a walk around the port in Hobart. The following day we visited a replica of Douglas Mawson's Hut which houses a fascinating museum about the his Antarctic expedition, after that we headed out on a great boat trip with Finn from Pennicott Wilderness Journeys.

My Trip To Wineglass Bay (4k)
Wineglass Bay is approximately a 2 hour drive from Hobart. I highly recommend taking the Mt Amos trail. Its challenging but EXTREMELY rewarding. On the day, I did both the Mt Amos trail and the 2 hour walk to Wineglass Bay (7hrs walking in total). Some of the trails are pretty frightening but when time is taken, you can conquer them. Do it!

Wineglass Bay Cruise
We were blessed with a fantastic Tasmanian summers day and headed out from Coles Bay on our day tour with Wineglass Bay Cruises. This most certainly is a spectacular cruise taking in the unspoilt and rugged beauty of Freycinet National Park and of course the iconic Wineglass Bay. The kids young and old were thrilled to have 30+ dolphins bow riding the boats wave, jumping out of the water and having a jolly old time. The Australian Seals perched on the rocks were amusing to watch as they jumped into the water and frolicked in the water. Lunch while in Wineglass Bay was delicious and a cool refreshing amber ale washed it all down nicely. We had a fantastic family day out.
Wineglass Bay (Tasmania)
Wineglass Bay is in the Freycinet National Park on the east coast of Tasmania. It comprises a 120 Km coastal strip of breath taking ocean views.
The largest nearby towns are Coles Bay and Swansea.
Wineglass Bay has been voted by several travel authorities as one of the world's ten best beaches.
Famous features of the park include it's red and pink granite formations and a series of granite peaks in a line which are called The Hazards.
