On the Enid Blyton trail ... Dancing Ledge, Isle of Purbeck, Dorset
This pool is widely speculated to be the source of inspiration for the natural swimming pool in Enid Blyton's Malory Towers books. It's quite a hike from the nearest car park down some very steep and rocky hills with a large drop from the ledge down to the pool itself. It's certainly not a trip for the faint-hearted!!!

NT volunteers stone seat Purbeck
National Trust volunteers, staff and locals have been working on restoring a semi-circular stone seat for the scouts in Purbeck, Dorset. Probably last used in the 1960s, it had become a scattered pile of stones and fallen branches but with funding from IBM new stone was bought and barrowed down to the site. The National Trust Tuesday walling group put in the foundations, built the wall end and laid down the first few courses of larger heavy stones. The community day with parents and children built up the courses to seat level and the walling group laid the flat seating stones and built up the back rest.

Dorset's Jurassic Coast - a scramble down to Chapman's Pool
Today, as part of my adventures in Dorset exploring the Jurassic Coast, I visit Chapman's Pool, not the most easiest beach to get too.
Chapman's Pool is a small cove to the west of Worth Matravers on the Isle of Purbeck, and is most deserted because it so difficult to get down too. However, once there, the views are fabulous and the beach lovely.

Dorset's Jurassic Coast - Bald Explorer goes to Dancing Ledge
In today's video, Dave Ford takes me to the fascinating quarry along the Dorset coastline known as Dancing Ledge.
Dancing Ledge is part of the Jurassic Coast near Langton Matravers in the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, England. Dancing Ledge is a flat area of rock at the base of a small cliff. A little scrambling is required for access. It is signposted on the South West Coast Path a few kilometres west of Swanage. Dancing Ledge is so called because at certain stages of the tide when the waves wash over the horizontal surface, the surface undulations cause the water to bob about making the ledge appear to dance.
