WOW Air Travel Guide Application
Welcome to São Paulo, Brazil. São Paulo is a HUGE city. The city itself has more than 12 million people - that if you don’t count the extended metropolitan area that surrounds the city.
You probably can imagine that, in a city this big, we have a lot of options on what to do, what to see, where to eat, where to drink and so on. So you can surely tell how hard it would be to sum up our city in just 2 minutes! We decided to face this challenge and choose what we would do if we had 24 hours to spend in this incredible city.
By the way, when in São Paulo, there are many ways to get from one place to another. You can drive, take an Uber, ride a bike, take the bus… We chose the subway, one of the fastest ways!
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
We started the day downtown, where the city was founded almost 500 years ago. There you can find lots of museums, cultural sights, places to shop and also great spots with amazing views of the city from above - most of those for free, or at least very cheap. Our choice for the travel guide video was the Municipal Market. Inside a beautiful historical building are lots of fresh food and specially fruits. On the second floor you can sit at a restaurant and order some typical food from São Paulo! Very much worth the visit.
São Paulo is immensely diverse. It was built by immigrants from many parts of the world - specially european, japanese, chinese and african. Until today, people from all over the world and from different parts of Brazil come live here. Like us! Ana is from Curitiba, in the south, and Carol is from Rio! Our second choice for the day reflects the cities background. We went to a neighborhood called Liberdade, which means freedom. It's our own Chinatown! It’s a great place for shopping and seeing a mixture of cultures. In our opinion, the best thing to do there is to eat - hence our chosen spot for lunch. We tried some different street food and everything was delicious (besides cheap)!!!
Our third stop was at Paulista Avenue, our financial center. We like to call it our Wall Street. The big avenue is filled mostly with huge office buildings. Surprisingly though, it's also a great place to have a good time, specially on sundays and holidays, when the avenue is closed for traffic and the place is taken by artists, musicians, cyclists and street food, flooding with people. That means that there are lots of things to see and do!!
We headed to Vila Madalena - one of our young and hip neighborhoods. There you can find lots of bars, restaurants and stores, full of young people everyday of the week! We strolled by a must-see tourist spot: Batman's Alley. Filled with ever changing graffiti and a million corners for that perfect instagram shot.
Our choice to end the day was in a typical brazilian boteco: a bar with live samba, typical brazilian bar food (we went for pastel and dadinho de tapioca) and the MUST HAVE caipirinhas, our world-renowned drink. One thing's for sure: there's no better way to wrap up such an amazing day!!
Hope you had fun and we expect to see you soon in the magnificent São Paulo!
