Wisconsin Brewing Co. starts big
Wisconsin Brewing Co. in Verona is the latest addition to the state's growing craft beer scene. The $11 million, 21,000-square-foot facility could eventually make 250,000 barrels of a beer of a year. The brewery's brewmaster, Kirby Nelson, spent almost 25 years at Capital Brewery in Middleton.
WBC 07 09 13 Construction
Nine months ago we ceremoniously broke ground on the WBC brewery in Verona, Wisconsin. Today, we are only weeks away from the completion of our building. Last week, two of our grain silos were installed. In the Taproom, our monolithic Tap has been installed, twenty feet of shimmering stainless steel floating above where the bar will be. Next up, painting, flooring and cabinetry.
Then the real fun starts. In late July, we'll begin installing our brewhouse. Manufactured in Hudson, Wisconsin, it will take up to two months to install and test this state-of-the-art brewing system. Our official opening is scheduled for November 1.

My brother began working here a few months ago. He promised us a tour...I had no idea it would be 4.5 hours! This campus makes me consider changing my career goals.

Alaskan Solstice RV Trip ~ What Was She Thinking? ~ Lots Of Folk Music
After spending time slide out to slide out in Seward we were very excited to explore outside of town! Its not that we do not like the spot we have, it is just great to be able to go out and explore and not be boxed in! Anyway, we make it to Moose Pass for the festival and try a new RV park. The attendant thought we were going to park the RV and bust out a tent...maybe? People always ask how I am able to stay calm in certain situations. Im not too sure but while editing this video I was getting frustrated! Then we head over to find out Kobuk couldnt come in to the festival and we had to put him in the kennel. For those tired of hearing about the dog, sorry, you will just have to get used to it :-) Then we dance the night away and drink some local beer. We ended up having 6 people in the RV. 3 on the blow up mattress, one in the passenger seat and G, Kobuk and I sleeping in the back in our beds. All in all it was a great time! Thanks for reading this short story that you could have just watched instead :-)

Around the Corner with John McGivern | Program | Middleton (#703)
[Latest Airdate: May 3, 2018]
[Original Airdate: January 25, 2018]
Before we showed up in Middleton, we thought this city was started as a suburb of Madison. Wrong. When we got here, we thought that Middleton was divided into the industrial part and the neighborhood part. Not so wrong, but both parts completely impressed us. And after we found the Mustard Museum, we knew we were spot on!
There are tons of places to work in Middleton and John got into some really neat ones, like ETC (Electronic Theater Controls), Standard Imaging, Morley Airplane Company, and Springs Window Fashion. Topped off by a visit to the doll hospital at American Girl, the industrial side of town was an eye-opening whirlwind!
And the living is good in Middleton, too. John learned how to play cricket (not really --- he still doesn't know the rules), held backyard chickens and rode the Metro Transit while talking to welcoming residents. He played board games, helped clean and ate great Chinese food with some Middleton entrepreneurs.
We left with thoughts of kind people, successful businesses and ... mustard. Never thought we'd say that! Thanks, Middleton!

SUMMARY
=======
Madison is the capital of the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the seat of Dane County. As of July 1, 2017, Madison's estimated population of 255,214 made it the second-largest city in Wisconsin, after Milwaukee, and the 82nd-largest in the United States. The city forms the core of the United States Census Bureau's Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes Dane County and neighboring Iowa, Green, and Columbia counties. The Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area's 2010 population was 568,593.
Founded in 1829 on an isthmus between Lake Monona and Lake Mendota, Madison was named the capital of the Wisconsin Territory in 1836 and became the capital of the state of Wisconsin when it was admitted to the Union in 1848. That same year, the University of Wisconsin was founded in Madison and the state government and university have become the city's two largest employers. The city is also known for its lakes, restaurants, and extensive network of parks and bike trails, with much of the park system designed by landscape architect John Nolen.
Since the 1960s, Madison has been a center of political liberalism. Though Wisconsin is regarded as a battleground or swing state in elections, Madison and Dane County have supported every Democratic Party presidential nominee since John F. Kennedy in 1960, with the party's most recent nominees, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, carrying Dane County with over 70 per cent of the vote in 2008, 2012, and 2016.

Around the Corner with John McGivern | Program | Fish Creek & Ephraim (#612)
[Latest Airdate: January 4, 2018]
[Original Airdate: March 9, 2017]
Fish Creek and Ephraim are just minutes away from each other in Door County. While these communities are really different, they are both part of the same wonderful Door County experience. We're on the bay (west) side --- also known as the busy side. Indeed, John had a full agenda, as do most tourists who come to this part of Door County, but this turned out to be one of the most relaxing episodes because that's how Fish Creek and Ephraim are. You can't help but walk a little slower, talk a little less and smile a little more. Well, John didn't follow suit on the talk a little less part because he's a television host and talking to people is what he does. And what fun conversations he had at Lautenbach's Orchard Country Winery and Market, Edgewood Orchard Galleries, Wilson's, and with everyone he met. And since John spent a good deal of time here acting, he couldn't wait to catch up with both famous theater groups. The busy side of the Door in September. We highly recommend it!
