Salem, MA. The Witch City
By hadeel Alharbi
Pre Halloween night 2010 walk of Salem Massachusetts Music by Britannica
Halloween 2010 is coming Sunday night to Salem, Massachusetts. The party goes on the entire month of October here. This is a walk around the city only 6 days before on a Monday night. There was a light fog adding to the atmosphere. The music is an original song by the Salem based band Britannica with the full band and acoustic duo. Those videos are also available on my profile page. Tonight's walk starts where my last Halloween video starts, New Derby St at Artists Row. It then goes to Essex St, Hawthorne Blvd, then up and back on Derby St including some of Pickering Wharf, ending with many of the great restaurants of Washington St.

Red Line Cafe: Salem, MA; Salem Police Department
I was in the cafe. Maria Veres (owner) was very rude to me. I called her a bad name and was leaving. I thought her husband was going to attack me. I refused to let him bully me, and then I left. They had the Salem Police Department harass and arrest me. I was charged with disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.

SALEM IS ALREADY KNOWN FOR IT'S PAST... BUT THE FOCUS IS NOW ON IT'S FUTURE.
NATS UP -- this allows you to see vision
BUT THE FOCUS IS NOW ON IT'S FUTURE.
THE MASSACHUSETTS CITY WAS THE SITE OF THE NOTORIOUS WITCH TRIALS OF THE 17TH CENTURY.
IT'S SO CLOSELY IDENTIFIED WITH ITS HISTORY THAT EVEN SALEM'S FIRE ENGINES AND POLICE CARS HAVE FLYING WITCH LOGOS.
SOT: Salem is known all over the world as the witch city. Mostly because of what happened in 1692 when 19 people were hanged and one person was crushed under rocks under the crime of witchcraft. But now Salem is known for witchcraft in many ways because of the modern witches and warlocks who live here today.

THAT'S BECAUSE THE WITCH INDUSTRY IS A SEASONAL BUSINESS.
WHILE 100-THOUSAND PEOPLE VISIT SALEM IN OCTOBER TO CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN, TOURISM OFFICIALS WANT TO MAKE IT A YEAR ROUND DESTINATION.
SO THEY'RE TRYING YET AGAIN TO REBRAD THE HISTORIC SEAPORT
SOT: we want people to come and stay longer, we want them to see the appeal of salem and understand that there's a lot to do and that there's a lot to do in the region.
