The World's Most Powerful Tidal Current: the Saltstraumen Maelstrom
Near Bodø in Norway, there's the strongest tidal current in the world: Saltstraumen Maelstrom, a constantly-changing rush of whirlpools, boils and vortices. It might not be quite the whirlpools of myth and legend, but it's still an impressive sight to see.

About
New Album 'Hurricane' OUT NOW!
Biography
“When we were kids we were inspired by seeing a great rock and roll show that would take you out of your everyday normal life and leave you on a high. There would be the buzz of the crowd, stacks of amps, fireworks, explosions etc…That is what our band is all about – fun and great song craft.” (Paul Hurst)
The Jokers, who hail from the North West of England, were formed in 2006, with the aim of creating the world’s greatest rock and roll band. Their debut album, ‘The Big Rock ‘N’ Roll Show’, while mixed by Mike Fraser in Vancouver, (straight after he had mixed AC/DC’s 10 million plus selling Black Ice album), was only recorded in guitarist Paul Hurst’s Liverpool living room, with duvets hanging on the walls to help the sound and provide a makeshift vocal booth.
Released in June 2009, ‘The Big Rock ‘N’ Roll Show’ was awarded 8/10 in Classic Rock’s Summer 2009 issue by scribe Dom Lawson, who stated that “If you’re going to start nominating yourself for the intermittently vacant position of rock’n’roll standard bearers, you’d better have the sound, the swagger and the songs. Fortunately, The Jokers have all three in large amounts. Frontman Wayne Parry has one of those voices designed to incite a riot of dancing and Olympic standard drinking, and every song is alive with a real sense of joyful bonhomie. Most attempts to nail that elusive rock’n’roll spirit fall flat because the band simply don’t have the juice. The Jokers, meanwhile, are swimming in it.” The band then spent two years on the road building a substantial live following supporting the likes of Hawkwind, Y&T, Joe Elliot & The Down N Outz, Argent, Anvil and Fozzy, selling over 8000 CD’s and 6,000 downloads of ‘The Big Rock ‘N’ Roll Show’ on their own independent record label along the way.
The jokers then hooked up with producer Andy Macpherson (Eric Clapton, The Who, Barclay James Harvest, The Buzzcocks etc), and began writing their second album, ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Is Alive’, in his Revolution Studio in Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire, early in 2011. After two years of perfectionist recording and mixing sessions, ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Is Alive’ was finally mastered by Tim Young at Metropolis studios in London in February 2013. When massive hard rock label SPV/Steamhammer’s Head Of A&R Olly Hahn heard the album he immediately offered the Jokers a worldwide record deal and scheduled ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Is Alive’ for release in September 2013. Packed with glorious, fluid lead guitar licks, vivid, expressive vocals, groove ridden bass lines and crisp, cracking drums, ‘Rock ‘N Roll Is Alive’ received rave reviews on release; “This second serving from the hard touring foursome is full of sure-footed grit: complete with crystal clear riffing and tight, anthemic tendencies” noted Steve Bailey in Guitar Magazine. Fireworks Magazine’s Alan Holloway stated “They sound like a healthy mix of The Black Crowes, Chickenfoot and AC/DC, albeit with their own mojo throughout. Opener ‘Silver City’ has a great melody and guitar base, whilst ‘Let It Rock’ is very AC/DC but ‘NYC’ has a wonderful smooth feel backed up by a guitar part that brings to mind the theme from ‘School Of Rock’.” Powerplay writer Steve Swift pronounced “Buffoons need not apply here; this is serious business and these Jokers deliver. 9/10”
After a series of sell out pub and club gigs in the North West, The Jokers launched the album in London at a packed out Borderline gig on September 10th. Powerplay’s Chris Kee reviewed, raving that “Before they’d reached the end of their first number tonight, I was blown away by their energy, fire and passion. Every member of the band is a showman and you can’t help but smile as their joy in playing is infectious. You can hear elements of practically every great rock band blended into their sound – the Stones, AC/DC, The Cult, Skynyrd, Purple, Bad Company, The Who etc, they’re all in there somewhere. The Jokers are just a great rock’n’roll band and they put on a fantastic live show. ‘Let It Rock’, ‘Night Driver’ and ‘Head Above Water’ formed the fantastic heart of the set and last song ‘Silver City’ was a proper rock classic in the making and a suitably climactic finish to a brilliant performance.”
The Jokers then set off on a 17 date headline tour of Spain, before returning to play at the Hard Rock Hell VII festival in North Wales on November 30th and the inaugural Planet RockStock festival in Great Yarmouth on December 8th.
The Human-Powered, Giant Theme Park Playground: Ai Pioppi
- - pull down for details of Ai Pioppi!
In the foothills of the Dolomites, an hour or so north of Venice, lies Ai Pioppi, a restaurant that's home to an astonishing, giant, human-powered, kinetic-art theme park playground. It was designed and made by a man called Bruno over forty years, and it's free for folks who eat at the restaurant.
I'll be honest: I sort of thought it was a myth. The idea of unattended, huge kinetic ride-on sculptures was surely false? There was some evidence: a very artfully-shot documentary, and some shaky tourist footage, but I couldn't quite believe that something this potentially dangerous could still exist.
So on Easter weekend, when it was quiet, Paul (@cr3) and I took a road trip to try it. And it's real. It's very, very real. Watch as we try and take a somersault on the Bicycle of Death.
And if you don't take the right amount of caution, it can hurt you -- although my eventual injury didn't come through any rides, but just by tripping over by running!
AI PIOPPI:
Opening hours vary, closed most weekdays and all winter, check before travelling
Via VIII Armata, 76, Nervesa della Battaglia TV, Italy
Thank you so much to everyone at Ai Pioppi: I'm sorry for bleeding on your ride, and for pronouncing your restaurant's name terribly. Thanks to Paul, who drove me to the hospital; thanks to the doctors and nurses at Treviso Hospital, too. And Europeans: remember to take an EHIC card on holiday around Europe, so your healthcare travels with you. I didn't have to pay a penny or deal with travel insurance!
And more than that: if you do go, and I recommend you do if you're ever anywhere near it: TAKE CARE. Even when you're on an adrenaline high and you think you're invincible. I wasn't. You won't be either. Hospital visits in a foreign language aren't fun!

It looks like a puppy following a friend down the road. Only the road in this case is Scotland’s Forth Estuary, an arm of the North Sea near Edinburgh, and the puppy is an energetic gray seal, probably a juvenile. After tailing kayaker Alistair Forrest and his companion for about a mile, the seal took advantage of a break in the paddling to hop aboard Forrest's kayak. There, the sleek marine mammal sprawled out as if ready to come along. Forrest and his companion voice their amazement at the unplanned wildlife encounter. Video: Newsflare.com/Halox

Top ten things to see in Scotland
1. Loch Ness and the Great Glen
A geological rift split the land from coast to coast, once dividing Scotland in two. Glaciers deepened the trench and the
result today is a long glen of steep-sided, wooded mountains and dark, mysterious lochs. Castles and forts abound,
bearing witness to the Great Glen's strategic importance and enhancing its dramatic grandeur with intrigue and nostalgia.
And, of course, there's the legendary Loch Ness monster, elusive but irrepressible, and still attracting scientific
interest -- keep that camera to hand.
2. Edinburgh Castle
Dominating the city's skyline as it has done for over 800 years, this castle is a national icon and, deservedly, the
country's most popular visitor attraction. Din Eidyn, the stronghold of Eidyn, from which Edinburgh takes its name,
was the vital possession in Scotland's wars. Varying roles as royal palace, barracks, prison and parliament have all
helped shape this castle, home to the Scottish crown jewels and the fabled Stone of Destiny.
3. Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum
Scotland's most visited collection is more popular than ever, since a 27.9 million pound refurbishment allowed even more
of its fascinating collection of art and artifacts to be seen. Some 8,000 works of major international significance are
displayed over three floors of gallery space. The diverse collection takes in world-wide ancient cultures, gives a
comprehensive view of European and Scottish art across the centuries, and provides insights into 20th-century Glasgow
life. Contrasting displays in open spaces demonstrate Kelvingrove's quirky sense of fun
4. Isle of Skye
The product of violent geographical upheavals, the misty isle is justly famed for its towering, ragged mountains
wild coastline. Add to these a colourful patchwork of crofts (farms), waterfalls, an exceptional whisky, a castle linked
to the fairy world and the historical romance of Bonnie Prince Charlie, and you find on Skye all the ingredients that
best symbolize the Highlands.
5. Glasgow Science Centre
This £75-million millennium project is a pure delight. The heart of the centre is the Science Mall, a glass-sided silver
crescent with three floors of hands-on exhibits, demonstrations and special-effect theatres. Adjacent to this is the
world's only revolving tower and an IMAX cinema projecting gigantic 3D films.
6. The Cairngorms
The highest mountain massif in the British Isles comprises a magnificent range of peaks, wild lochs and ancient forests,
as well as bird sanctuaries, nature reserves and sports amenities. It is a region of exceptional scenery and habitats
that have not been divided by roads. Activities take place on its fringe, but the heartland remains open only to those
who travel by foot or on skis. It is this relative isolation that makes it so appealing both for the wildlife that
inhabits the region and for the people who thrive on the testing terrain.
7.The Falkirk Wheel
An engineering design wonder, this huge structure was built to connect the
Union and Forth and Clyde Canals for east to west coast access for boats. The technical genius makes this a fascinating
sight, and it's a great day out for the whole family, adults and children alike.
8.Edinburgh Zoo
It has been open since 1913, and it's still one of the top Scottish attractions. Edinburgh Zoo gives you the opportunity
to meet over 1,000 animals, and is the most exciting wildlife attraction in Scotland.
Of all the things to see and do in Scotland, this is one of them. The highlight is the daily Penguin Parade.
9. Culzean Castle
Formerly a rather dull fortified tower house, Culzean (pronounced Cullane) was transformed by the architect Robert Adam
into a mansion of sumptuous proportions and elegance. The work began in 1777 and lasted almost 20 years, the Kennedy
family sparking little expense in the decoration and craftsmanship of their clifftop home. Culzean -- a masterpiece in a
land full of magnificent castles -- was gifted to the nation and fully restored in the 1970s. Its grounds became Scotland's
first public country park in 1969.
10.Glasgow Cathedral
In Scotland, round about AD550 St Mungo, the first Bishop of the British Kingdom of Strathclyde, founded a religious
community around a small church, in an area that was to become known as Glasgow. The present stone building was built
during the 13th century, on the site where He is believed to have been buried in AD612.

Holland's Barriers to The Sea
The Delta Works in the Netherlands (Holland) is the largest flood protection project in the world. This project consists of a number of surge barriers, for examples:
1- The Oosterscheldekering is the largest of the 13 ambitious Delta Works series of dams and storm surge barriers and it is the largest surge barrier in the world, 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) long. The dam is based on 65 concrete pillars with 62 steel doors, each 42 metres wide. It is designed to protect the Netherlands from flooding from the North Sea.
2- The Maeslantkering is a storm barrier with two movable arms; when the arms are open the waterway remains an important shipping route however when the arms close a protective storm barrier is formed for the city of Rotterdam. Closing the arms of the barrier is a completely automated process done without human intervention.

The 'Reunite With My Son' Challenge! | Intro | Football Manager 2018 Let's Play
Welcome to this, my first series of Football Manager on the channel! As I say in the video, I've been an extremely long term football management sim player, and have played every iteration of FM, but don't have a whole lot of time spent in FM18.
We're starting unemployed, and in this video I'm giving you a breakdown of the challenge, as well as giving a bit more information about myself and what you'll see from the series.
Where we start, and how we go from there, shall be seen from next Sunday!
-----------------------------------------------------
The Challenge!
I have a son.
He's a Wonderkid, and based at Falkirk FC in the Scottish Championship.
He'll no doubt move on to a super club fairly soon - so we'll be keeping track of what exactly he does in his career, and we'll see whether we approve of his choices!
From unemployment, we must work our reputation up enough to merit taking the job at the super club he is playing for, and then win the Champions League with them!
There is a curveball in the challenge - there's a new wonder manager in the game in the shape of my son's grandfather! He's at Falkirk FC currently, so we'll see how long he stays there for, and whether or not he becomes a thorn in our side for getting the big job we need!
