Fortunately we found Wonderful Eco Tours which offer a one day trekking adventure through Doi Inthanon National Park. This day trip doesn’t involve any animals but includes vegan food for lunch and yummy local coffee! They also pick you up (and drop you off) right at your hotel. The price was reasonable as well at 1400 baht per person. Just book online and pay in cash when they pick you up.

Why you should visit Chiang Mai?
Doi Inthanon National Park in Chiang Mai unexpectedly redefined the word “beautiful” for us. Doi Inthanon National Park ranges between 800 and 2565 meters with the highest peak which is the highest mountain in Thailand. If there is one place you have to go while in the Doi Inthanon National Park, it’s the Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail.
Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail requires a guide at a price of 200 baht per group. But we quickly warmed up to the man who led us, a local Hmong hill tribesman who undoubtedly cared for and respected the mountain. Also Wachirathan Falls and Mae Klang Waterfalls are one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Doi Inthanon.
If you ever think of visiting Doi Inthanon anytime during the year, definitely plan for setting up a tent in the campsite.

Thailand's dreamy north has national parks galore and tons of amazing day trips to take from Chiang Mai. Our first stop on our hidden Thailand road trip is Doi Inthanon National Park, Thailand's tallest peak.
On the way, we stop by Pha Chor, an orange canyon located about an hour outside of the city. It's an easy, perfect little pit stop before we continue on our way to the Mae Ya Waterfall.
Though Doi Inthanon National Park has many waterfalls, Mae Ya is easily one of the most beautiful, the largest, and the most impressive. It's also the least crowded since it takes an extra 40 minutes to drive to from the park entrance, but it's worth it!
Finally, we finish at the King and Queen Pagodas near the top of Doi Inthanon after a gorgeous drive.

Looking for Things to Do in Chiang Mai? Try Doi Inthanon National Park
Hello friends,
We spent some time in Chiang Mai and were looking for some things to do other than just hang out in the city. We rented a car, and drove 1.5 hours to Doi Inthanon National Park, to get a look at Thailand hiking and see what the mountains were all about.
Long story short, it was super pretty, and a great way to get away from the heat (we actually wore jackets for part of the hike). There are waterfalls, trails, restaurants, snacks - just a lot of stuff to do in this park.
Admission is $9
Rental car $25
You need to hire a guide to just walk with you on some trails, which was $6 for a whole group.
We'd definitely recommend this if you like the outdoors and don't want to just be in the city of Chiang Mai.

If you get the chance to visit Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand, you should consider taking a trip to Doi Inthanon National Park the highest point in all of Thailand). There are taxi services available that will take you there, but they are more expensive than renting motorcycles and riding there yourself (much more fun if you are into motorcycles, but probably not a good idea if you do not have any riding experience). Dirt bike rentals costed us $25/each, food for the day costed less than $10/person, and entrance to Doi Inthanon National Park costed about $10/person. For under $50 we had ourselves one of the most memorable days of our lives! Don't forget a coat or long sleeve because it is cold up there (about 55-65 degrees Fahrenheit).
