City of Riddles - Polyglot
City of Riddles is an interactive theatre show where children take an active part in the creation of an imagined world. Giant-like in a miniature world, they move around a landscape dotted with small houses and a giant tower, lifting roofs and peering through windows to see inside. They meet the inhabitants of a medieval city, who are so engaged in a backyard battle for space, that they are blind to the growth of a giant force that threatens their entire world. Exploring peoples suspicions of strangers and the construction of the other, City of Riddles investigates how self-image is created through narratives imposed on us by family and society and how this influences our choices. Part art installation, part theatre show, City of Riddles redefines performance in schools, drawing the audience into the action of the story.
Through a dramatic narrative, the audience will be asked to take sides, to have opinions and to engage directly in a battle to save the city. The children must solve a series of riddles in order to change the narrative, utilising word play and enigma to create an intriguing and mischievous atmosphere in a fantastical world. City of Riddles is the newest work from Polyglot, creators of the award-winning, international touring smash hit successes Check Out!, Headhunter and Muckheap.
Polyglot also offers practical workshops for children in which their own artwork becomes a part of the City of Riddles. Please indicate when booking if you would like to take part!

Nick & Liesl @ the Maldon Folk Festival (Australia) Oct 31 2010
After arriving back from our 2010 European Tour with one short sleep to recover from jet lag & a thermos of coffee for the road we headed south to Maldon, Victoria to play at the lovely Maldon Folk Festival. This is a performance of 'Most of My Life (with the end of 'Marjorie') from our Sunday set in the Penny School.
Thanks to the Maldon Folk Festival for having us, we had a great time! Thanks to all the people who came to our sets and supported us. Also thankyou to the wonderful sound man (??) at the Penny School who did a great job.
Cheers,
Nick and Liesl xo
