Victorian High Country 4x4 and Camping - 2019 #4 Dargo, Crooked River Track, Wonnangatta Valley
We woke at Italian Flat to a scorching 41 degree day, so after a cooling swim in the river we headed to Dargo Hotel for a fantastic lunch. After stocking up on fuel and supplies we made our way out to Black Snake Camping Area for the night. Next day we took on the Crooked River Track before bouncing our way up Tea Tree Spur Track over to the Wonnangatta Valley.

Video of a short 4wd trip to the Victorian High Country I joined in December 2018. The first time I took the Super Cruiser in the VHC with the new Slinky Suspension Set Up and I was keen to see how it went. On this trip, I had my daughter with me and as the weather was quite miserable I found out my awning set up is not suited to travel with two people and a lot of rain so we cut the trip short after 4 days. However, we managed to travel Zeka Spur, stay in the Wonnangatta Valley, do the steep hill climb out of the valley via Herne Spur Track
and for the fun of it driving the also steep Collinwood Spur and then camp at Talbotville Campground. The last two day we then spent at Bright and enjoyed the Sunshine.

licola to wonnangatta into dargo weekend trip
On this trip we set out to licola Friday night where we rolled out the swag, woke up early and made the trek to wonangatta, found a few good lookouts, huts and waterfalls, we found a nice little camp along the banks of the wonangatta river where we rolled the swag out and got a nice spit roast going over the fire, after exploring the wonangatta valley in the morning and learning a lot about the history, we set off to dargo and headed on home, another end to a grouse weekend in the vic high country

On this trip, we camped at wonnangatta station which is located in the Victorian High Country. There is a lot of history in this area and I urge you to do a little research into the wonnangatta murders which will make your stay here a little more interesting.

Tragics High Country Omeo-Dargo-Sale
After morning tea at Omeo bakary the Tragics head up to Mt Hotham via the Great Alpine Rd. The air has a distinctive chill in it as we climb. After a few happy snaps we head back down to Dargo High plains rd. This road has some lovely views at the higher parts. Heading into Dargo we stop at the iconic Dargo hotel were we have a few drinks, eat and make plans for the route to Sale. Some chose to ride Firestone Rd whilst I stayed on the designated route.

This Vic High Country 4x4 trip departs Wonnangatta Station, and heading for the tiny town country of Dargo. are always an adventure. Specially when they start from Wonnangatta Station, deep in the Victorian High Country.
After leaving Wonnangatta Station and the anniversary of the unsolved 100 year murders, we headed for Dargo for a couple of days.
