WHAT TO DO IN KON TUM, VIETNAM | THISIZZTHELIFE
Join us exploring the town of Kon Tum in Vietnam. We explore the sleepy town and the surrounding area, including visiting a minority (Ba Na tribe) village. The countryside around Kon Tum is beautiful with patchwork fields, the Dakbla River and quaint villages.
Day One:
We spent our first day walking around the town of Kon Tum on foot. We visited a church, Eva Cafe and saw some of the countryside near out homestay (featured in drone footage).
Day Two:
The following day we travelled around Kon Tum town and to Kon Ktu village on motorbikes with out hosts and some friends that we met in our homestay.
Firstly, we visited Bishop's House in Kon Tum. We then travelled across Kon Klor Bridge and ventured out of the town to Kon Ktu village. Kon Ktu is inhabited by the Ba Na Tribe, which is a minority in Vietnam. The inhabitants there did not seem used to tourists and lots of people came out to see us! There is an amazing Rong in the village which is an unusual building with a very tall roof.
We went for a swim in the Dakbla river where the current was very strong! Finally, we visited the beautiful wooden church in Kon Tum Town.

There's really not much else to do in Kon Tum. This is the main attraction aside from all the other touristy knicknacks. This is it.
The Wooden Church (2) in Kon-Tum province
The wooden church was built between 1913 and 1918 by French priest Guise Decrouille. It also has a guest house and art gallery displaying photos and artifacts from the local ethnic people

The old French Seminary in Kontum, Vietnam
French missionaries were active in Vietnam long before the country became a colony during the second half of the 19th century. They arrived in the Central Highlands just as colonial ambitions were gathering momentum. On a recent visit to Kontum, stopped by the spectacular 1935 seminary Paris Foreign Missions (MEP) Seminary. It's a superb building with an interesting little museum as well.

Kon Tum & Pleiku, Vietnam, Dec 2015 | Twobirdsbreakingfree
In this video we take you on a journey through the major towns of Pleiku and Kon Tum, located in the central highlands of Vietnam.
Pleiku itself it not an attractive destination for travellers or tourists but it does offer an interesting natural wonder - a large lake known as ‘sea lake’ that is believed to be a volcanic crater lake.
Kon Tum offers its fair share of charm to visitors and is an ideal base for those wanting to explore the regions ethnic minority villages and learn more about these people’s way of life. Bear in mind that while a charming place, it is not on the mainstream tourist circuit in Vietnam and those with a need for high stimulation, such as is provided by popular tourist resorts, may do best to avoid this place. One can see many bahnar and rongao village in the area surrounding the town and within the town itself are several bahnar neighbourhoods.
The town is situated in a peaceful setting with a gorgeous mountain backdrop, as the Dakbla river flows lazily by. One can admire several ornate catholic churches here, including a wooden church. Learn about the ethnic minority groups and the region’s forests at the rather impressive Kon Tum museum. The town has a few orphanages that can be visited, which might be of interest to some. Visit the Nguc Kon Tum museum to find out more about this former prison. Explore the surrounding villages to see the beautiful rural landscapes, discover the fascinating village meeting huts known as ‘rong houses' and watch the people go about their daily lives first hand.

Last Day at Vinh Son feat. Beck
The Video itself:
I made this video after my trip to Vinh Son Orphanage, located in Kontum, Vietnam. Vinh Son Orphanage is an non-profit organization and they have approximately 3 orphanages under the name. The largest one, also know as Vinh Son 1, is located behind the iconic Wooden catholic church of Kon tum (it is so iconic that the image of this church basically pops up first when you search for Kon Tum in google images). The trip itself was mesmerizing and simply unforgettable, and I was deeply touched not only by their simplistic life style, but also their attitude towards life and their firm believe in the gracious heaven and its son. The reason I want to share it with you guys is because these kids are simply adorable and filled with potentials, and with helps from all of you, they will definitely hold tight of all opportunities that are ahead of them and they will simply make differences.
The Song used in this video is called Say Goodbye by Well Known American Singer and Multi-Instrumentalist Beck. The song also features in his newest studio album, Morning phase, which won Grammy award for best album.
