Rosalie Wainwright plays a portable pedal reed organ.
On a visit to the Mawson replica hut in Hobart, Tas in 2016 with Graham Seal, we became interested in the music that was a vital part of their 1911 Antarctic expedition. Their main musical instrument was a portable, pedal reed organ. I started to research these small organs and their use in Australia. While in New Zealand in 2016 we happened upon the Woodville Reed Organ Museum run by the enthusiastic husband and wife team of Milton and Rosalie Wainwright. They have saved hundreds of reed organs from extinction. Many thanks to you both for sharing your music, stories and instruments.
If anyone knows if any of these small organs are still being played in their original environment (small country churches) please let us know as we are interested in recording them as part of our NLA 'Endangered Sounds' project.

Vivaldi's Spring on 100+ year old Trombones
Digging out some of the older kit to bring you this abridged recording of Vivaldi's Spring.
Neither trombone has a bell lock - it's just a compression fit between the slide and bell sections, and the G Bass Trombone doesn't even have a slide lock. Coupled with the lack of counterweights on the G trombone, it is very front heavy.
