Wooster is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Wayne County. The municipality is located in northeastern Ohio approximately SSW of Cleveland and SW of Akron. The population was 24,811 at the 2000 census and 26,119 at the 2010 Census. The city is the largest in Wayne County, and the center of the Wooster Micropolitan Statistical Area (as defined by the United States Census Bureau). Wooster has the main branch and administrative offices of the Wayne County Public Library.
The College of Wooster is located in Wooster.

Wooster was established in 1808 by John Bever, William Henry, and Joseph Larwill, and named after David Wooster, a general in the American Revolutionary War.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , of which, is land and is water.
The local bedrock consists of the Cuyahoga Formation (shale) and the overlying Logan Formation (sandstone and conglomerate), both Lower Carboniferous and rich in fossils.
In 2011, 93.3% spoke English, 2.4% Spanish, and 1.3% German.
As of the census of 2010, there were 26,119 people, 10,733 households, and 6,244 families residing in the city. The population density was . There were 11,822 housing units at an average density of . The racial makeup of the city was 91.2% White, 3.6% African American, 0.3% Native American, 1.9% Asian, 0.7% from other races, and 2.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.2% of the population.
There were 10,733 households of which 26.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.1% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, 3.8% had a male householder with no wife present, and 41.8% were non-families. 35.4% of all households were made up...

Ambiance, Alert - Wooster, Ohio - July 1st, 2013
This is a monthly routine test of the siren system for Wooster and Smithville Ohio. The system consists of various 2001s, Whelens, 508s, a T-128, and a Darley Model 5. Wooster Sirens #1 and #4 can be heard in the video. Each siren in the city has a two way digital controller for each of the 2001s, while the Whelens and T-128 have their own control set.

Amazing Insects in Ohio
My husband and I observed this colony of unknown insects being attacked by a fungus in the Wooster Memorial Park on 9/8/2013.
Update (9/9/2013): We have since learned that these are actually Wooly Beech Aphids. They do have an interesting relationship to a fungus, however...they deposit such large amounts of honeydew (sweet aphid poo) that sooty molds will grow directly below the feeding colony and discolor the ground and any plants below. You can see the gray shadow below the branches in this video. That's the sooty mold!

School Fight Breaks Out Between Lexington & Wooster Ohio
-A large fight involving fans from both teams broke out at Lexington High School on Friday after a game against Wooster High School.... LEXINGTON - The Lexington Minutemen (8-1) suffered their first loss of the season Friday as the unbeaten Wooster Generals (8-0) defeated them 63-41 at home.
But as fans began to leave the gym a fight erupted in the stands between fans of both teams. The Lexington Police Department was called to the high school, though no arrests were made.
