Fountain in Lippstadt, Germany
SEE MY HISTORY GROUP ON FACEBOOK :
Lippstadt is a really attractive town in Nord Rhein Westphalia. I was very surprised at how much there was to do and see there. The centre is very nicely laid out and offers interesting walks. Definitely worth a visit of at least one day!
In the early 13th century Lippstadt, with a population of 2700, had four parish churches. There was an Augustinian abbey which had existed since 1281.
Heinrich von Ahaus founded one of his communities for women of the Brethren of the Common Life there.
In 1523 it formed a defensive alliance together with the neighbouring cities of Osnabrück, Dortmund, Soest and Münster.
Augustinians studying at the University of Wittenberg brought Martin Luther's doctrine home with them. Thus in 1524 Lutheran doctrines were preached at Lippstadt by their prior Westermann, and the town was one of the first to embrace lutheranism officially, though it resisted the rise of Calvinism in rural areas of Westphalia.
In 1821 the Papal Bull De salute animarum, made over to the Bishopric of Paderborn the Lippian parishes of Cappel, Lipperode and Lippstadt, which had previously belonged to the Archbishopric of Cologne without producing any ensuing agreement with the state of Lippe.
In 1851 the whole of Lippstadt, which up to then had been divided between the Kingdom of Prussia and Lippe, was added to the Prussian royal province of Westphalia.
In 1944 a women's subcamp of Buchenwald was founded in Lippstadt. It was also the site of a displaced persons camp in the years following World War II.
On 1 April 1945 the US 2nd Armored Division made contact with the 3rd Armored Division at Lippstadt, effecting junction of the US Ninth Army with the US First Army, and seized the city against scattered resistance
My channel on you tube : is one of the most prolific from Poland. I have produced around 1,900 original films.
My big interest in life is travel and history but I have also placed films on other subjects

There are a number of films here on the packaging industry. This is because I am the publisher of Central and Eastern European Packaging -- - the international platform for the packaging industry in this region focusing on the latest innovations, trends, design, branding, legislation and environmental issues with in-depth profiles of major industry achievers.
Most people may think packaging pretty boring but it possibly effects your life more than you really imagine!
Central and Eastern European Packaging examines the packaging industry throughout this region, but in particular in the largest regional economies which are Russia, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Austria. That is not to say that the other countries are forgotten, they are not, but obviously there is less going on. However the fact that there are so many travel related films here is not from holidays but from business trips attending trade fairs around the region. Every packaging trade fair is a new excuse to make another film!

Germany: Activists turn Berlin fountains blood red to protest migrant deaths
The Weltkugelbrunnen (English: Globe Fountain) at Breitscheidplatz was one of several fountains across Berlin that flowed red, Wednesday, as unknown activists dyed the water the colour of blood to symbolise the migrants who lost their lives attempting to enter the European Union.

Märchenbrunnen (Fairy Tale Fountain) - In A Berlin Minute (Week 160)
--- ---
The Märchenbrunnen (Fairy Tale Fountain) in Volkspark Friedrichshain was opened in 1913 and is the largest fountain of the Kaiser era. It was conceived by Ludwig Hoffmann. The fountain is surrounded by sculptures of characters from the Grimm Brothers' Fairy Tales, various animals and several children created by the artists Ignatius Taschner, Georg Wrba und Josef Rauch.
Did you recognize all the characters? There are Hansel and Gretel, Puss in Boots, Hans in Luck, Seven Ravens, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Brother and Sister, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty.
The music is a sped-up version of In A Tree by Jason Matherne:

Architectural Films - study #3 -- Haus der Kulturen der Welt - Berlin Germany
orangecountyfilms.net
The Haus der Kulturen der Welt (House of the Cultures of the World) in Berlin is Germany's national centre for contemporary non-European art. It presents art exhibitions, theater and dance performances, concerts, author readings, films and academic conferences on non-European Visual Art and culture. It is one of the few institutions which, due to their national and international standing and the quality of their work, receive funding from the federal government as so-called lighthouses of culture.
The building is located in the Tiergarten park and a direct neighbour of the Carillon and the new German Chancellery. It was formerly known as the Kongresshalle conference hall, a gift from the United States, designed in 1957 by the American architect Hugh Stubbins as a part of the Interbau exhibition. John F. Kennedy spoke here during his June 1963 visit to West Berlin. On May 21, 1980 the roof collapsed killing one and injuring numerous people. The hall has been rebuilt in its original style and reopened in 1987 at the 750 years jubilee of Berlin. To Berliners it is also known as the Schwangere Auster (pregnant oyster).
Outside the entrance, Henry Moore's heaviest bronze sculpture, Large Divided Oval: Butterfly (1985-86), stands in the middle of a circular basin. Weighing nearly nine tons, it was his final major work, completed just before he died. One of three public Moore sculptures in Berlin (the others being Three Way Piece No.2: The Archer (1964-65) at the Neue Nationalgalerie and Reclining Figure (1956) at the Akademie der Künste), Butterfly was initially a loan to (then West) Berlin in 1986, but the city council wanted the sculpture permanently, and asked Moore if he would donate it. The letter arrived just before his death and went unanswered. In 1988 it was sold by the Henry Moore Foundation to Berlin for 4.5 million Deutsche Mark (around $2.58 million at the exchange rate of the day), then a huge sum for a public sculpture. The sculpture was eventually badly damaged by a combination of environmental pollution and vandalism, and restored in 2010.

Volkspark Friedrichshain Walking Tour
Hey Guys, Heres a walking tour of one of the best parks in Berlin. Enjoy this Walking Around Volkspark Friedrichshain.
Info on Folks Park.
Volkspark Friedrichshain is a large urban park on the border of the Berlin neighborhoods of Friedrichshain and Prenzlauer Berg. The oldest public park in Berlin, at 52 hectares, it is also the fourth-largest, after Tempelhofer Park (300 hectares), Tiergarten (210 hectares), and Jungfernheide (146 hectares).
Märchenbrunnen (1913)
Mid 19th Century - 1945
The size, shape, and layout of the park have changed over the intervening years. In 1848, the Friedhof der Märzgefallenen (a cemetery commemorating those who died in the March revolution) was created. Another of the earliest changes was due to the construction of Berlin's first urban hospital, Krankenhaus im Friedrichshain, which was built in 1868 to 1874 in the southeast part of the park. The hospital, which was designed by Martin Gropius and Heino Schmieden, was originally directed by the notable Rudolf Virchow.
The Märchenbrunnen in Volkspark Friedrichshain, as it appears today.
An element of the park that has survived the destruction wrought during the Second World War is the Fairy Tale Fountain (Märchenbrunnen). Designed in 1913 by Berlin's city building director, Ludwig Hoffmann, the fountain contains 106 stone sculptures representing characters from traditional German fairy tales. The fountain was created for the children of Berlin, during a time in which rickets and typhoid were endemic, and took 12 years to complete. The Second World War had a dramatic impact upon the rest of the park. The Nazi military made use of the park, constructing flak towers in 1941, as well as bunkers, and as a result much of the park was destroyed by Allied bombing during the war.
At the end of the war Berlin was divided into four parts by the Allied Powers, and the Volkspark resided in the Soviet Sector. The reconstruction of the park was therefore undertaken by the German Democratic Republic (GDR). A plan was devised by Reinhold Linger, the GDR director of landscape and park architecture, to create two small artificial mountains in the park out of rubble from the bombed-out city. (Similar projects were undertaken throughout postwar Germany, and such peaks are called Schuttberge in German.) In 1946 the bunkers were destroyed, filled, and covered by over two million cubic meters of rubble from the ruins of destroyed buildings. The larger of the two hills became known as both Mont Klamott and Großer Bunkerberg, the tall bunker mountain, and is 78 meters tall. The smaller hill, Kleiner Bunkerberg, the small bunker mountain, has a height of 48 meters. With the passage of time and the growth of greenery, the hills now appear to be completely natural features.
The period from 1995 to 2004 saw a period of renovation and reconstruction, during which the Fairy Tale Fountain was cleaned of a great deal of vandalism that had taken place following German reunification. The swimming pools built in the GDR period have been replaced by a sports complex for beach volleyball, rock climbing, skateboarding, and cycling.
